We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

You are choosing to camp in a forested area that contains many hazards as well as potential threats. These include but are not limited to; Wild life (bears, bob cats, cougars etc), Fire is a serious threat to this region during summer months strict no smoking policy is in effect. The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We had the most magical weekend at the Forest Sanctuary cabin. The property is stunning and you can tell how much love, care and thought has gone into setting up and maintaining this site. Christian was very welcoming and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We’ll definitely be back very soon!

Weekend Trip to Hayward Farms

Brent and Sherri are kind hosts who made sure we had a good fire pit and pine cones for our kiddos to throw into the fire. This was very special for our families. Additionally: -Each site had its own portapotty which is nice for privacy. -The trail down to the lake was fun for our families and the lake is beautiful. Nice bench at the end. -We were given a complimentary 5 gal water jug.

We really enjoyed the quiet and secluded feel of this camp site, without being far from amenities! Site 4 was awesome, we loved the outdoor kitchen and cozy feeling of the tent! The area is clean and safe! They have corn hole set up, my wife and I really enjoyed it for something to do away from screens! Recommend the trail behind the stable, it goes to a beautiful lake access and bridge! Brent and Sherri are great hosts, very helpful and just a quick message away if you have any questions! We would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle without having to travel too far!

We had a wonderful stay with Christian. From the beginning, he was incredibly kind and thoughtful. Since we were traveling by bike, he checked in on us before we arrived and even offered to pick us up if we needed a ride. Anytime we had a question or needed anything, he was always happy to help. The place was absolutely beautiful, very well cared for, and surrounded by nature. It was peaceful, relaxing, and the perfect place to unwind. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. Highly recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed our stay here :) The Porta potties were on the cleaner side which was nice, the picnic tables needed a major wipe down as they were covered in bird poo, but we just wiped them and put table cloths on them and that worked fine. It was nice having a more private site, for some reason there was a mistake on the app and we ended up sharing the site for one of the nights but the people were super nice so we didn't mind. The clover covering the whole site was beautiful and my puppies loved that. There were trains that passed by during the day and through the night but they weren't very loud and they never woke any of us up. The only reason I know they were going at night is cause I was feeding a baby haha. Over all a super good stay :)

A fire pit and firewood are provided. What a great perk!

Clean toilet, and showers. The maps, and signage could use updating, we did 3-4 rounds trying to find our site. The road on site was very narrow and uneven. The tent pads could use some work. Other than that the site was great. It was nice, quiet, and isolated from other sites. Id definitely come back.

Leah and Caleb are great hosts and are very accommodating. Plus we met their dog, Marley, who our little toddlers' highlight of the trip! The RV is cozy, roomy and complete with the basics. We need to bring our own beddings and bottled water which is communicated ahead. The site feels private and we love being surrounded with nature.There is about 30 minute trail (toddlers steps) through Hayward lake reservoir trail. We enjoyed having to axe precut wood for campfire. My husband and I were thinking to get a trailer camper van in the future and this experience is a good way to find out if we really want it. Thanks for the stay!

About

Just a 30-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, Mount Seymour Provincial Park is a favourite among residents of the Lower Mainland, partly due to its viewpoints overlooking Vancouver, Mount Baker, and Say Nuth Khaw Yum (Indian Arm) Provincial Park. Visitors will find many trails of various lengths and difficulty—the hiking trails to Dog Mountain, Mystery Lake, and Mount Seymour peak are particularly popular. Lower mountain trails are used extensively by mountain bikers and hikers, while upper mountain trails near the ski resort area are restricted to hiking until winter trails are put in place in December. The park features extensive winter facilities for skiing, snowshoeing, and snow play. Camping options include just two group camping sites available for up to 16 people each.

Tips for snagging a campsite

When to go

Mount Seymour Provincial Park is open year-round. During the winter months, the resort area is busy with skiers and riders, while the park sees winter snowshoe and hiking enthusiasts. In summer, Mount Seymour’s lower sections are teeming with mountain bikers, while hikers occupy the upper sections accessible from the resort’s parking lot. Due to the park’s popularity and proximity to populated areas, day-use permits may be required in summer. Winter trails are put in place from mid-December through March 31 each year.

Know before you go

Due to the park’s popularity in summer, BC Parks has instituted a day-use pass reservation system. This is to limit overcrowding and impacts on the park’s alpine sensitive environment.
Mount Seymour Provincial Park doesn’t have wifi, and cell phone service can be spotty along the upper mountain trails.
Open fires aren’t permitted in the park’s backcountry.
The mountainous backcountry can be rugged and unforgiving, so visitors should be experienced and properly equipped. Anyone planning to travel in the backcountry (whether overnight or for just a few hours) should inform a friend or family member of their intended route and anticipated return time.
Winter snowshoe trails and ski trails marked by BC Parks do not require a permit or day-use pass.
