Wellspring Mountain
39 sites · Lodging, Tents500 acres · NCWelcome to our Hipcamp; we are excited that you are here! Are you drawn to the outdoors and filled with fond memories of summer camp days? Wellspring Mountain has been a tranquil haven for 75 years, evolving from its early beginnings as an apple orchard turned wilderness therapy camp, its now home to Wellspring Mountain Botanical Sanctuary & The Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine. Come experience this captivating property that has brought respite and retreat for many over the years! The majestic Saddle Mountain, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, cradles Wellspring Mountain Botanical Sanctuary. Here, nature flourishes with lush foliage and a variety of wildlife that quench their thirst from spring water-fed creeks and streams. We are delighted to share this picturesque paradise with outdoor aficionados and nature lovers alike! Over three decades, our lovely grounds served as a boy's camp until it closed in 2010. We took up residence in 2015 and have worked diligently to bring the property back to life. Though there is still much progress yet to be made, even with limited resources, we've managed some impressive renovations! Only 10 miles away by road, the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than a mile from the property peak, if you fancy a mountain scramble! Our mile-long driveway connects to the Surry County's Scenic Bicycle Trail and there's an abundance of options for biking, hiking, and paddling within 20 miles from camp. There's never been a better time to experience nature at its best when you visit us! With endless outdoor and recreational spaces for you to explore, it's no wonder why many people can't resist staying on the mountain! Our visitor area offers ample recommendations that you won't want to miss out on. Plus, we're always happy to provide suggestions while you're here if there's something specific your family is looking for. Come see what all the fuss is about - adventure awaits! Babbling Brook Campground
10 sites · Lodging, Tents10 acres · Moravian Falls, NCIn the 40's and 50's this spot was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Even buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, get some rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

The Country, LLC
7 sites · RVs, Tents500 acres · New Castle, VAProud Veteran owned and operated business! Our farm is located within Jefferson National Forest in Craig County Virginia and one of the most scenic in our state. We have about 500 acres and only groomed camp spots with the closest two being 350 yards apart, so privacy is not a concern and what you will get. All but one of our spots are directly beside a crystal-clear creek (Johns Creek) and the other is nestled in the woods at the end of a field beside one of our ponds. Wildlife abounds at all spots, we even have Bald Eagles that are on our farm everyday. Once you see and experience our farm, we know you will absolutely love your decision for choosing us to stay with. We are very close to great hiking and biking as well. Only mins away from Virginia's Triple Crown of Hiking including McAfee Knob (the most photographed spot on the entire Appacian Trail). How The Country, LLC got its name: Being raised in Roanoke VA, I was “always” asking my parents if we were going to “The Country” where my grandparents lived in what we now call our little slice of heaven. After spending over 30 years away in the USAF (WTH...POL!!!), we returned home and couldn't wait to find a way to let others enjoy all our farm and the place I have always loved more than anywhere in the world! When trying to come up with the name, it came down to Granny and Granddaddy’s or The Country and you can guess which one we though would be the best! 😊 Portions of our farm are in its 5th generation (me) of ownership, and I hope it stays in our family for many years to come. That my friends is how and why "The Country, LLC" came to be and got its name! We will do everything we can to make your stay, no matter how long or short a special one! We pride ourselves in customer service, privacy, settings. You won’t find what we have anywhere else!!! Check us out on Facebook or call for more details, and book a reservation with us! We can't wait to see you and we're sure you will love it!
