In this cozy glamping setting, you will be serenaded by birds of every kind and will often see deer drinking by the stream close by. This cabin is OFF GRID (limited solar power) but has a wood stove (bundles of firewood available for purchase), propane outdoor portable grill, and enough solar power for very small electronic appliances. Sleeps 3 adults comfortably (or 2 adults & 2 children however msg us if you have any questions). Indoor bathroom with compostable toilet indoors. Many attractions and conveniences only 10-15 mins away in Port Sydney, Bracebridge and Huntsville. Nearby is a the beautiful public Mary Lake beach and boat launch in Port Sydney. There is NO HUNTING permitted on the property. Please expect bugs, flies and mosquitoes. Deck is mostly enclosed to make star filled nights that much more enjoyable. There is also a sugar shack and garage on the property for viewing purposes only. There is an outdoor propane shower and a large cooler available for your convenience as well. If you’re feeling adventurous you can hike around the surrounding forest; stay within the property boundaries and you will discover the hydro cut and its valley view, the ravine, the waterfall, and a footpath that leads to a bridge at the back of the lot. Or simply just relax and enjoy the soundings on the deck area. The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic table, and grassy area. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. Enjoy beautiful sunsets here overlooking the western side of the lake.

Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Learn more about this land:The Rustic Cabin is for those looking for something different. The cabin is off the grid. Oil lamps, wood stove, outhouse, hand pump at the kitchen sink are just some of the amenities that make this property unique. Total privacy surrounded by nature and a beautiful river. PLEASE NOTE as of DEC.1/20 - You must be a camping type of person. You must drive a 4x4, all-wheel drive, or front-wheel drive with good winter tires. You will have to walk in. You will need to haul water. We do have a sleigh. The Rustic Cabin is a wonderful place to really get away for rest and relaxation. The front of the cabin is an open area of living room, dining room, and kitchen. Sliding glass doors open up onto the porch with comfy chairs and a swing. The kitchen is well equipped. We ask you to bring bed linens and towels. There is no hydro at the cabin. Lighting is provided by oil lamps. There is a hand pump at the kitchen sink for water except in the winter. We suggest you bring your own drinking water or you can pick it up at the main house. Staying here is a very unique experience!!!!! No smoking inside the cabin. Long weekends are a three-night rental. We do not allow pets.
