Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. Please keep your animal on a leash when not supervised or going for walks around the farm. The cabins are meant for those wanting to turn off their phones and delve deep into relaxation. Bring a book, star gaze, sun bathe, meditate or pull out the laptop and plug into to electrical and wifi to get the job done. Included: - We have two cabins both nearby one another. One is a double bed and the other has two single beds with all bedding provided - Access to a clean compost toilet/portopotty. Toilet paper provided. - Nearby the portopotty is a hand washing station which is also where you can wash any dishes you might need to. - Drinking water from a beautiful well (from the hydrant near the porto potty) - Internet is available. Ask when you've been booked! -Electrical outlet -Outdoor solar twinkle lights and a rechargeable night light for inside. -Outdoor kitchen minimal supplies: double burner propane stove, pot, pan, French press, cutlery, mugs, plates, bowls. Please bring the rest for yourself. Encourage you to bring your own cooler with icepacks. Keep all food hidden from on farm dogs (especially chocolate). Not Included: -Fresh veggies, bread and eggs available for purchase from our farm store, or volunteer and get some in exchange. - If you plan to bring groceries, please bring your own cooler and ice! - Extra blankets, adequate bedding is provided, bring extra if needed. - Sunscreen and mosquito repellent - Firewood (ask to buy some as we have some on site) -Excessive waste management, small garbage bag available, bring additional garbage bags and take with you for longer stays Please read and sign the waiver inside the cabins upon arrival.

Welcome to our property! We are on a scenic farm with lots of Rolling hills bordering the Ganaraska forest.The 11,000 acre Ganaraska Forest is one of the largest blocks of forested land in southern Ontario. The area provides abundant recreational opportunities and is managed for a sustainable yield of wood products.We have four campsites available for tent and RV campers. If you’re bringing an RV or trailer, we can accommodate vehicles up to 50ft in length. The site is flat and electrical and water hookups are available. Amenities include a toilet, water, and wifi. Activities nearby include hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and swimming in our saltwater pool during the summer!Pets are welcome! Campfires are allowed as long as there is no fire ban.

Weekend Trip to Tryfan Forest

We stayed at the Hemlock Grove site with 7 people, 3 cars and had plenty of room! We had 2 hammocks and 3 tents, this site is great for hammocking. Brent was very accommodating and provided all the information we needed. Unfortunately we got hit with some bad weather, but I would recommend Tryfan Forest to anyone looking to enjoy a quiet weekend on a beautiful piece of land.

Wonderful place for weekend getaway! Excellent privacy. Have garbage cans which is a huge plus. Most sites don’t offer them. Well decorated washroom, with sink and water. Off leash friendly, our dog was very happy. Most importantly there is this beautiful pavilion, with lights at night and big enough for at least 10+ ppl. Everything is just perfect.

Dale's yurt-style tent was an excellent spot for us to meet up and rest for one night before our canoe trip in the Kawartha Highlands. Dale was quick to respond to my questions and went out of his way to provide wine glasses. The electric fireplace was a welcome feature on a cool night. We made breakfast at the well-supplied outdoor kitchen. The light at the outhouse was a nice touch, though it could have used some cleaning. Thanks a bunch, Dale.

We had a wonderful time here. The place was private, beautiful, clean and cozy. Dale was an amazing host - super responsive, flexible and a pleasure to deal with. If the outdoor shower setup and the outhouse can be fixed up a bit that would make it even more comfortable, but overall it was a great value for the price and I would 100% recommend this.

My 5 yr old loved every single moment here especially the beautiful animals. She fed them, played with them and even held a bunny. It was a dream come true for her. Beautiful, well maintained site. Great for big groups or off leash pets. Amanda has put a lot of work into making guests feel comfortable and welcome on her property. The outhouse, gazebo, volleyball nets and night lights all over the site are great. Also very close to Ganaraska forest for hiking trails. She was also very respectful of our privacy. Will be booking again!👍🏻

Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

Wow! We came in mid October to see the autumn colors. What a great experience! First off the hosts are amazing and very helpful. The lodge itself is very comfy, the bed is super clean and comfy as well. There's enough firewood for the whole stay (2 Nights). Oh and our dog loved it as well! The place is around 20 min drive away from any nature hike, and there are plenty in the area. Highly reccomend

First time here and the host was very welcoming. We picked a spot close to the water but there was no car access to the site so we had to change it at the last minute. The host was very accommodating and made the changes without any issue. We like the site we chose and would come back again.

Weekend Trip to Three Ponds Homestead

We had an amazing time here. Wendi is super friendly and thoughtful, she checked what we needed and reminded us about the cold. The horse experience was the best part. Grooming them felt so calming and the horses are beautiful and very friendly. The firewood amount is really generous and lasts a long time. The campsite is spacious with lots of privacy. At night it was perfect for stargazing, I saw so many stars and even a few shooting stars. The toilet is very clean and everything here feels well cared for. I also admire how much Wendi and her family have built in just a few years, they are really living my dream life. Overall this was way better than camping in a provincial park. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back.
