The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!! There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat! Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit! - TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent. Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy! **KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). 3 nights at Great Bras D'Or Waterside Camp

I booked, confirmed by email, three nights here as their ad offered full services, drove quite a ways to get there and was exhausted the first night when I arrived so went directly to the site and slept. Come morning, I went down to the house that the ad says has the kitchen, shower, toilet, water, electricity. All doors were locked. Took two hours for the owner to respond to my email and he responded that they were closed for the season and would offer a full refund. I requested a full refund then had to follow up to obtain it. Then I checked my records and see that I did not get the full refund. I had to email again and was advised by owner that I had to contact hip camp for the remainder. Waste of time I replied, for all of this. He then challenged me that I had somewhere to lay my head for the night for $10 and asked me if I liked the view. I only wasted $50 to get there, sleep, NOT shower and have amenities then had to find somewhere else and drive there. Terrible service.

Beautiful waterfront views from almost every site. We visited in early October so the campground wasn’t very crowded. Electric, water, fire ring and nice picnic table at our site. Older bathhouse with shower that was well maintained and clean. Would recommend staying here.

The dome was beautiful! We had such a wonderful time. It was picturesque and peaceful. All amenities were as shown in the posting. It was clean and cosy. The sauna was a nice touch and easy to operate. Our hosts were on hand if we had any issues and their communication was brilliant. We loved our short stay and can't wait to go again!

We had a wonderful stay st the Dome in the woods. It was such a beautiful and relaxing space. We were so excited that the space was dog friendly. The hosts thought of every detail including supplies to make our pupper comfortable! The location is fantastic with Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, and Halifax all driable within 20min-1hour.

Our family of four enjoyed the solitude this cabin on a small lake offered for a much needed staycation. We enjoying resting in the hammock and the gentle rhythm the decks rocking chair provided. We brought our own, but there are several fishing rods available and ready to use. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Looks like there’s going to be some upcoming renovations to the cabin so we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next at Grumpy Bear Hollow!

Weekend Trip to FORT NOVA

We arrived at sunset to Reginald’s farmhouse. Yard was mainly flat and easy to navigate. Sunset was beautiful, and we didn’t know when we booked that it was so close to the seaside. We ate an apple from the tree which was delicious. Farmhouse is a little museum onto itself and smells slightly of damp. Bathroom has all necessities and shower was excellent. Overall a perfect peaceful spot to stay! Host was a great writer and communicated well

Such a great place to stay. Jeffery and Tracey really thought of everything. We made the best meals in the outdoor kitchen, took in the full panoramic view from the deck and even got to take a shower! This place is perfect for someone who wants to have time away from the hustle and bustle but also have a few luxuries (The best one being the bathroom haha). Such a nice family too and you can tell they had fun building everything and are excited to add even more. Thanks for everything!

For me, Fort Nova was heaven and strategically located. The peaceful setting was great. That peace was interrupted at times as I hiked down the trail to the huge beaver pond each morning with coffee in hand. The interruption was, many mornings, from either an eagle or an osprey. Located an hour from Yarmouth and an hour from Liverpool, the farm was perfectly located to explore the entire southern part of the province. And, next door was a restaurant with a view of Jordan Bay.

If there is 5star hotel, there is a 5 star campsite as well and sleep by the sea campsite is one of them. Jeffrey and his whole family is very welcoming and thorough in explaining all the amenities in the campsite. I strongly recommend this place 💯

2 nights at Breezy Petals Camping Resort

This was my first attempt at camping out with my own tent while roadtripping to Nova Scotia. It was a good experience! Shower and toilet was available, and it was a regular flush, surprisingly. Unfortunetaly for my 3-person tent, the nails cannot go through the wooden platform, so I installed it on the side. If you're Glamping or using the already available tents on-site, it might be a better experience due to bugs, since this has 2 ponds around. Overall, for a first time, I was satisfied! I just hope that the "Bois Road" that takes you to there ends up soon being paved, because that is one dusty unpaved road. At least the site is distant from it, so it's no problem!
