The Wild Islands, 100 Wild Islands, Wild Islands Coast. Regardless of the name, we couldn’t be more lucky to have this pristine wilderness at our fingertips. Considered to be “The most valuable islands you’ve never heard of”, the archipelago is one of the last remaining intact and ecologically rich island groups of its size in North America. We want to share it with you… responsibly. As members of 1% for the Planet and Leave No Trace Canada, we’re committed to conserving the islands and helping others to do the same. We believe that people can only fully appreciate the islands’ unmatched beauty and conservation value by experiencing them firsthand. Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean has been operating on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore for over 60 years! This makes Murphy’s Camping one of the longest-running tourism operations in Nova Scotia. Our campground lands began as a coastal fishing settlement where you’ll still find a fisherman’s wharf and the old salt fish tanks from years past when schooners would load this cargo bound for the New England market. Over the years the Murphys have provided services such as schooner supply runs, rum running, moon shining, boat building, blacksmith services, farm produce, and sport fishing. With the introduction of our brand new geo-domes and cottage, our establishment now offers 10 months of Wild Islands fun! A 1.5 km hiking trail is planned for September 2025, which will make it even easier to enjoy the Wild Islands Coast.

This campsite is one of our more rugged sites. As such, the site has some rocks located within and is slightly inclined. It is a favourite among cyclists and motorcyclists. Pitch your tent under an apple tree with a view of the marina. Enjoy an amazing view of the ocean with this ocean view campsite! This campsite has dimensions of approximately 12ft x 20ft (3.7m x 6.1m) This campsite can safely accommodate a tent size of 12ft x 12ft (3.7m x 3.7m). This campsite is situated on a slight side to side incline. We can provide you with leveling blocks free of charge. Simply inquire at the office. This campsite has dimensions of approximately 20ft x 30ft (6.1m x 9.1m) This site is suitable for RVs, trailers, and tents that require only 15 amp electricity and/or water on site. Most RVs and trailers can operate on 15 amp electricity. You will need to turn off your air conditioning, and make sure your water heater is operating on propane, and not electricity. If you are not sure about your unit, please contact our office and we will be happy to assist you. Our RV sites include use of our dump station free of charge. We offer a mobile dumping service for longer stays for an additional fee. Inquire at the office for pricing and availability. All of our campsites include a picnic table and campfire pit. This off-grid dome offers all the necessary creature comforts for a cozy and comfortable stay including a 2 kWh battery bank which powers your lights, mini-fridge, fan, heated blanket, induction burner with water kettle for tea and pour over coffee. Introducing our first cottage! This 16ft x 20ft (5m x 6m) seaside cottage offers an incredible nature lovers getaway. It's proximity to the ocean and elevated deck with retractable awning will allow you to relax in comfort as you sit back and enjoy the sounds of nature. This cottage is located on our new 21 acre property adjacent to the campground. The cottage offers a 3-piece bathroom, kitchen (Fridge, Induction Burner, Microwave, Kettle, and Kitchenware), queen size bed, and pull-out sofa, sleeping a maximum of 4 people. Leave your tent at home! The Upper Deck is a one room, 2nd floor shelter located in the centre of the action at our marina. Great views of the marina, ocean and communal campfires. The Upper Deck is located in the upper storey of the Lobster Tank Building which stands at the base of our dock. You will be located above the ocean with a 270° panoramic view! It is a rustic shelter without running water or a bathroom. It is equipped with lights, power outlets, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, tables & chairs, sofa bed (pull out couch), bunk beds, deck, and propane BBQ. It does not offer a private campfire pit, but you are welcome to join our nightly campfire which is only steps away. Guests are reminded to bring their own bedding, linens, towels, etc… Queen size sheets for the sofa bed, and twin size for each of the bunk beds. Animals are not permitted in the Upper Deck. This is a small, family run rv park, and not what I think of when I look for Hipcamps. There are both rv and tent sites, and many sites are on the water. The tent sites are mostly on the water and have nice privacy. There were 30 rv sites and 20 tent sites. The rv sites have varying degrees of privacy. We were originally booked in site 31 on the water, but decided it was too tight a space for our travel trailer (it is also very very close to site 32) and we moved to site 7, which was larger. Most of the rv sites are not super private, but in general they have nice spacing (but again, not what I think of for a Hipcamp). The people who run it were very friendly and helpful. You can kayak directly from the campground. While I don’t consider this a true Hipcamp, I would return, but would book directly through the campground website to avoid the additional Hipcamp surcharge.

All I can say is wow. I am a 28 year old transgender man and I have never gone to a place that I felt more free. People allowed me to just exist, without questions, without scrutiny. The staff were incredible, the bathrooms were clean and comfortable, and I was truly welcomed. I came to solo camp for the first time, and site #37 exceeded expectations. When I showed up early, I was allowed onto my site which was spectacular. There’s a certain fear when camping solo as a queer person, but this campground made it easy. Thanks again.

A nice spot to camp, gorgeous views. Everything was super clean including the washrooms and showers. Check in was hassle free. Camp sites are close together but we didn’t have any issues other than someone’s off leash dog charging our dog on our campsite. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

%100 I would suggest this location for a peaceful getaway! everyone there were very pleasant. We also took our dog Milo with us, and he enjoyed swimming in the lake much more. We were surprised to see less bugs,interesting animal sounds and cool crabs. Had the opportunity to gaze up at the starry, pristine sky 😊 Although we didn't have time, kayaking is absolutely something we want to do when we return! Although it was only a short walk away, we were disappointed that the fantastic view we had hoped for was not directly from our tent site.

The site I had had no direct ocean view unfortunately but that didn't ruin the experience. Murphys has a homey feel about it. The staff are excellent and there is convenient ice and firewood onsite for not too much. I stayed a night on #51 and 6 nights on #37. Both were tenting sites and I enjoyed them. The only minor complaint is the resident chipmunks. They dumped my garbage every day. Don't leave food on the picnic tables or you will be scavenged. They are relentless. Other than that Murphy's is a great place and it was a good week!
