This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. A great site for families that you can call home and plan day trips around the area, or hang out at the campsite. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. We have 3 campsites that are spread out on 4 acres of grass. 1 site is used for temporary summer trailers, 2 are for camping. Pets are welcome, but keep them on a leash. Please remember to remove all garbage and recycling from campsites, a compost bin is available on site by the garden. A portable toilet is available from May 15 to the end of thanksgiving weekend in October. And please note that we are located beside an active rail line that is used by the Go Train, VIA Rail and freighters, there are trains that pass throughout the night. Weekend Trip to Slate River Dairy

My friend and I went up for a short trip and found Wilma's farm here. It was a great experience! The lady who checked us in was not Wilma but she knew what she was doing! She was very kind to us and was very clear about the rules. She even gave us a list of things to do around the area. We checked in during the day but came back to camp at night. We felt very safe there and because it was cold we camped in my car. I would recommend this place! The workers are very sweet and we felt comfortable being there as two women in an unfamiliar place.

1 night at Moonraker Treehouse & Cabins

Absolutely phenomenal experience. Claire provided clear, thoughtful, and detailed instructions and information every step of the way, from our questions prior to booking, to the instruction booklets on site that ensured a stress free stay. The property itself was very easy to find and navigate, and the treehouse was absolutely magical. You can feel the love and care that the hosts have put into the property in every detail, and we felt as though they covered every aspect of comfort we could possibly ask for, providing plenty of wood, blankets, and simple, but much appriciated amentities. The treehouse is also within comfortable walking distance from the parking area but is still private, which allows for the most breathtaking and scerene viewing of the mountains and birds in the area. I can't say that I have ever stayed somewhere that has compared to this, and would easily choose this experience over any luxury hotel, even considering our snowy morning. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night, and would definitely recommend booking two or more nights so you can take advantage of the hiking trails and appreciate it too it's full extent!!
