This property was purchased nearly half a century ago. For the majority of this time the forest section you will be camping in was left undeveloped, apart from a few mountain bike trails. Recently, as a family, we have seen a large increase in the people traveling to the Sunshine Coast to escape the city limits. Unable to rock up to a campsite and pick our spot like we used to, it was easy to see a growing demand. We have taken everything we love about camping and done our best to give you a sense of what life on the Coast is really about. Please note: By entering onto the property you release all liabilities towards us as hosts. You are choosing to camp in a forested area that contains many hazards as well as potential threats. These include but are not limited to; Wild life (bears, bob cats, cougars etc), Fire is a serious threat to this region during summer months strict no smoking policy is in effect. Sea to Sea regional park is one block away for amazing hiking and mountain biking opportunities. This site is a decent size, but a tight turn into it. We have gotten a tent trailer in there...it was a just tight! Black-Bears are on property year-round. www.bearwise.org please secure all attractants. Porta Potti Rental is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. It's available for a flat 15$ fee. Please empty and clean it when finished. If needed, we can provide Electricity via extension cord. Drinking water tap on site . The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Our parents, Mark and Sarah, got behind the vision and are excited to be part of this project with us. We would describe our property as: home…and a really fun place to grow up! Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more. We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) Surroundings and local attractions: Our property is situated in a low traffic rural residential area within ¬ 3 km to Sandy Pool Regional Park (5 min) A family favourite! ¬ 10 km to the Cowichan Valley Museum (Duncan Totem Tour) (13 min) ¬ 14 km to the Pacific Northwest Raptor Center (15 min) ¬ 19 km to the Hand of Man Museum (20 min) ¬ 20 km to Lake Cowichan (16 min) for swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc Note: Lake Cowichan is also home to ‘The Tube Shack’ where you can rent tubes to float down the Cowichan River and catch the Tube Shack Bus back to your car. Welcome to our secluded little farm paradise. We are located on the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ Peninsula on the main drive, West Saanich Road. We have 3 accommodations offerings here on HipCamp: (1) Tent camping in the fenced forest meadow (2) Car camping at selected sites around the farm (3) The Barn Loft private guest suite {1. The Camping Meadow} The meadow is a 1/2 acre fully-fenced, flat forest dell. There is a water spigot and an electrical outlet. It can host up to 3 tents. It is tent camping only - no vehicles allowed in the meadow. West Saanich Road can be a bit loud at night in the summer. If you have sensitive hearing, we encourage earplugs and/or camping at the farthest west end of the meadow. {2. Car Camping} The Cedar Grove is a private camp site with room for a regular vehicle (not an RV) and a tent. It is our only spot where you may camp next to your vehicle. {3. The Barn Loft Guest Suite} The Barn Loft Guest Suite is a beautiful restored hay loft with a double bed, a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette, and a living room and dining area. It is equipped with a composting toilet. Those staying at the Loft can also use the shared farm washroom. {Shared Washroom} The washroom is the shared washroom inside the farmhouse on the ground/basement floor, with a flush toilet and luxury shower. It is a short walk from the camping meadow, inside the heritage farmhouse. Please note that while inside the farmhouse basement, only the washroom is available for public use. Entering other areas of the basement is prohibited, as these are private living spaces. {Farm Fun} We have five horses, a tiny pony, chickens, a few goats and a flock of sheep. You are welcome to respectfully meet the animals with us - it is not permitted to meet the animals without a guide. DM us if you want to say hi to the animals and we will arrange a time. This property was purchased nearly half a century ago. For the majority of this time the forest section you will be camping in was left undeveloped, apart from a few mountain bike trails. Recently, as a family, we have seen a large increase in the people traveling to the Sunshine Coast to escape the city limits. Sea to Sea regional park is one block away for amazing hiking and mountain biking opportunities. This site is a decent size, but a tight turn into it. We have gotten a tent trailer in there...it was a just tight! Black-Bears are on property year-round. www.bearwise.org please secure all attractants. Porta Potti Rental is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. It's available for a flat 15$ fee. Please empty and clean it when finished. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more. We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) The Camping Meadow} The meadow is a 1/2 acre fully-fenced, flat forest dell. There is a water spigot and an electrical outlet. It can host up to 3 tents. It is tent camping only - no vehicles allowed in the meadow. West Saanich Road can be a bit loud at night in the summer. If you have sensitive hearing, we encourage earplugs and/or camping at the farthest west end of the meadow. {2. Car Camping} The Cedar Grove is a private camp site with room for a regular vehicle (not an RV) and a tent. It is our only spot where you may camp next to your vehicle. {3. The Barn Loft Guest Suite} The Barn Loft Guest Suite is a beautiful restored hay loft with a double bed, a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette, and a living room and dining area. It is equipped with a composting toilet. Those staying at the Loft can also use the shared farm washroom. {Shared Washroom} The washroom is the shared washroom inside the farmhouse on the ground/basement floor, with a flush toilet and luxury shower. It is a short walk from the camping meadow, inside the heritage farmhouse. Please note that while inside the farmhouse basement, only the washroom is available for public use. Entering other areas of the basement is prohibited, as these are private living spaces. {Farm Fun} We have five horses, a tiny pony, chickens, a few goats and a flock of sheep. You are welcome to respectfully meet the animals with us - it is not permitted to meet the animals without a guide. DM us if you want to say hi to the animals and we will arrange a time. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) Welcome to our secluded little farm paradise. We are located on the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ Peninsula on the main drive, West Saanich Road. We have 3 accommodations offerings here on HipCamp: (1) Tent camping in the fenced forest meadow (2) Car camping at selected sites around the farm (3) The Barn Loft private guest suite {1. The Camping Meadow} The meadow is a 1/2 acre fully-fenced, flat forest dell. There is a water spigot and an electrical outlet. It can host up to 3 tents. It is tent camping only - no vehicles allowed in the meadow. West Saanich Road can be a bit loud at night in the summer. If you have sensitive hearing, we encourage earplugs and/or camping at the farthest west end of the meadow. {2. Car Camping} The Cedar Grove is a private camp site with room for a regular vehicle (not an RV) and a tent. It is our only spot where you may camp next to your vehicle. {3. The Barn Loft Guest Suite} The Barn Loft Guest Suite is a beautiful restored hay loft with a double bed, a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette, and a living room and dining area. It is equipped with a composting toilet. Those staying at the Loft can also use the shared farm washroom. {Shared Washroom} The washroom is the shared washroom inside the farmhouse on the ground/basement floor, with a flush toilet and luxury shower. It is a short walk from the camping meadow, inside the heritage farmhouse. Please note that while inside the farmhouse basement, only the washroom is available for public use. Entering other areas of the basement is prohibited, as these are private living spaces. {Farm Fun} We have five horses, a tiny pony, chickens, a few goats and a flock of sheep. You are welcome to respectfully meet the animals with us - it is not permitted to meet the animals without a guide. DM us if you want to say hi to the animals and we will arrange a time. Weekend Trip to Forest Sanctuary Cabin
Stayed three nights for my partner's birthday long weekend! We had Christian's property all to ourselves for most of the stay, which definitely contributed to the zen vibes we were hoping for. It's nice to be able to spend so much time "doing nothing" without a sense of guilt, haha. We brought a bluetooth speaker, but only used it on a couple occasions (when cooking). The opportunity for silence and stillness can be a rare thing. The cabin is not fully finished but it has everything one could hope for. Bed and sofas are on wheels so a good chance for your closet interior decorator to shine. I recommend bringing headlamps or at least external batteries for your phone torch for convenience at night (we brought board games). The wood stove is easy to manage once you get the ropes, and Christian does a good job of teaching. We were toasty throughout our stay (evenings around 10C or so), but it doesn't hurt to bring extra for your sleep, when managing the fire might be harder. The kitchen is well equipped and we had a blast grilling up steaks. No issues with the outhouse. We didn't get enough sun for the solar showers but it's a neat setup. Overall a wonderful stay. Beautiful piece of property and it's clear how much care Christian has put into it- and continues to. Honestly hard to say how different our stay would be with others camping nearby, but the experience we got was very memorable.

This was by far the BEST camping site ever! Everything was spotless and very easy to find. The facilities were super clean, especially the toilet, which was incredibly well maintained. The water jugs were very practical, and the site itself was quiet, private, and easy to access. The host was extremely kind and respectful, and he gave us great recommendations for places to visit that turned out to be amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

We are located on the edge of the wilderness just 30 minutes north of Victoria. Our camping area is very quiet and private. We are next to a spring fed lake that contains trout and small mouth bass and it is great for swimming during the summer months. There are no motor boats permitted on the lake, however it is perfect for paddle boards, floaties and kayaks. There are several walking trails throughout our 10 acre property and the Trans Canada Trail is just minutes away. We have a large lawn for playing frisbee or bocce ball and a corn hole pitch (also known as beanbag toss). There is a fire pit, pinic table, 2 patios with tables, chairs and umbrellas and a pit toilet. A sink and potable water are also available. We are situated in forested land on the edge of the wilderness. There is deer, bear, cougar, beaver, martins and an abundance of birds in the area. This is a great location for those hiking or biking the Trans-Canada Trail. Adults and small dogs only. Currently our sites are only available on weekdays and is unavailable from November to the end of April.

Located just a 3 minute walk from Butchart Gardens and a short hike to Tod Inlet, we have 1.5 acres that is about half forested with fir and cedar trees. The rest of the property has many vegetable gardens, orchards, and our ducks. In the past we have hosted many bikepackers on their journeys and now welcome those hiking, bicycle touring, motorcycle touring, or car camping. Our tenting-only sites are all located in the forest and each site has room for up to four people. Water is provided directly at the sites and we provide good quality drinking water as well. Plugs are also available for charging phones and ebikes. A short walk away from the campsites there is a dishwashing/meal prep bench and sink. There is a day hammock to enjoy the forest near the tenting sites. We also have a flush toilet on site. Nearby attractions include Butchart Gardens (3 min walk), Butterfly Gardens (4 min drive), and greater Victoria (about 20-25 minutes away). Swartz Bay ferry terminal is about 20 minutes away (Vancouver, Gulf Islands), the Mill Bay ferry terminal is about 5 minutes away (connects to Mill bay and destinations north of Victoria), the Coho to Port Angeles is about 20-25 minutes away. The nearby village of Brentwood Bay is about a 5 minute drive away and offers a grocery store, pharmacies, various restaurants and cafes, a pub, and other conveniences for your stay.
