Campfires can be enjoyed through the cooler months and when permitted by the Rural Fire Service
Unfortunately our 3 metre cliff face river frontage prevents access to the river for activities such as boating or kayaking; nor do we offer farm style adventures.
"The Riverbank" as a destination for a relaxing time to unwind or a base from
which to explore the beautiful Hastings area.
The Abundance Nursery and Cafe with it's splendid lily pond view is a great spot to enjoy a meal or a coffee and only 3 kms back along Rawdon Island road.
The pretty country town of Wauchope is only a 12 minute drive and is home to Timbertown, a theme park boasting steam train rides and a glimpse of the timber getting industry of a bygone era.
Drop into the Vibe Coffee House, pick up "the best" coffee and a sensational meal before perusing the many treasures of Wauchope's specialty shops.
A day trip to the Comboyne plateu is a rewarding experience and enhanced by enjoying a meal at the magnificant Byabarra Cafe on your way through.
Whilst the meals equall those of any capital city restaurant, the view of the valley will take your breath away.
And then; there's Port Macquarie (20 mins) and sorrounds! one of the most scenic and attraction packed areas of Australia's eastern seaboard. Stunning beaches, amazing walks, top class restaurants, the list goes on.

We are a 4 minute drive from the historical town of Gladstone, which has a bakery, butcher, general store, retail shops, fruit and veg shop, nursery, cafes, restaurants, an op-shop, second hand wares shop, galleries, outdoor swim centre and of course the local pub.
Gladstone Markets are on the 3rd Sunday of the month. It's a 20 minute drive to South West Rocks, Hat Head and Crescent Head. Just 45 minutes north of Port Macquarie and 1 hour south of Coffs Harbour.
Please arrive before dark, or advise arrival time if not possible . You must be fully self contained, there are no facilities. Please no tents or swags.
Enjoy a beautiful campsite near a large dam, watch the ducks, rosellas, cranes, herons and the occasional Jabiru, feed and nest in the trees. A great spot for bird watching.
Pick your own spot, maybe near one of the fire braziers, but not directly under the trees if windy. No livestock on property but we have visiting kangaroos, tortoises, green frogs, and eels in the dam if you want to fish for them.
Mid Coast Flying operate a private 800 metre airstrip on the property, and Trial Instructional Flights (TIFS) are available, for $150 for 45 minutes. Please speak to Ross when you arrive.
You can pick your own site.
Unfortunately we may have to close after torrential rain events. We are also pet friendly, however there are no bins, so please pick up after your pets in the camping area.
Water is available near the hangar as you drive in.

Our property is located 45 minutes west of Port Macquarie and 20 mins from Wauchope. Located on the edge of the small community of Long Flat.
Mountainview offers approximately 15 acres/700mts of riverside van sites which cater only to self-contained vans. Public toilets are within easy walking distance in the local township of Long Flat where you will also find a great pub and general store to resupply (1 km from property entrance).
The property features a gated entrance and graveled road for your convenience and safety. We have 13 designated van sites available with plenty of space for privacy. If you are booking with others, please let us know so we can site you together.
We are unable to accommodate tent sites.
The river is a perfect spot to swim, kayak or fish with plenty of wildlife around to see, river shoes are advised for your comfort. The river can sometimes be swollen and fast flowing. Please watch children at all times.
Camping fires are only allowed outside of fire restrictions. Fires must be in a proper container / bucket. Please leave site clear. If you forage for wood please clear site of whats left before leaving This property is pet friendly though we do ask that owners leash and clean up after their fur babies. Dump points are located at Wauchope and Port Macquarie. We ask that all rubbish is taken with you upon leaving. Please be mindful that we do have neighbours and we ask that you be respectful and keep all noise to a minimum after 11pm and before 6am.
Please DO NOT cut through our neighbours property to get to and from pub. This is classed as trespassing and you will be ejected from property.
If broken glass is left behind on the site it will result in an instant ban.

As we are located on the North Shore of Port Macquarie, and to access the property you must cross the river using the Settlement Point Ferry
The Hibbard Ferry operates (6am - 10am / 2pm-7pm) Mon -Fri and all day on Saturdays and Sundays is only 300 m from the campsite, making it easy to pop into town, explore Port Macquarie’s attractions, or visit the region’s wineries. For longer stays, a discounted ferry pass can be purchased on your behalf.
NOTE THERE IS A COST WHEN USING THE FERRY
North Shore Beach is a 5-minute drive away, and the local gin distillery is just a 15–20 minute drive up Maria River Road.

Our kids had such a magical time. Fishing, farm freedom, feeding the animals, playing in the pool and making friends with other campers. Clean bathrooms.
The hosts are lovely. The games room is an added inside space to relax in the evening and we liked cooking our breakfast on their supplied outside cooking area. Highly recommend for those who love the outdoors with modern conveniences.

Lovely quiet and well maintained camp sites on the bank of the Hastings River. Mid April, but still warm enough to swim in. The campsites are well spaced apart and have lovely views over the river and surrounding mountains. Perfect for a restful few days.

Well laid out campground. Peaceful, quiet and with a great host. Close to the local town for coffee, pub etc. highly recommend if you what get away from it all for a few days. we stayed for over a week, loved it.

Great site! Fab location just a short walk from the beautiful lagoon & beaches - we loved Horseshoe Bay Beach & bodyboarding on the waves! A gorgeous sunset! Wish we had time to stay longer!

The obstacle course was epic! My 8yo had the time of her life and I must admit I had a ball too!
Direction were clear however a map image of the campsite (such as the one at Reception) would be useful. The campsite was open and largely flat - only problem was chosing where along the water to set up camp as there were so many options.

I shouldn’t be surprised but have to say that it is difficult to find a quiet, clean park with all the bells and whistles - especially in the middle of peak camping season. Thanks to all the visitors - what a great mob! Happy to be amongst a bunch of fellow travellers enjoying the spoils of the beautiful SWR in a world full of turmoil. Hope to be back soon!

Our recent stay at Port Macquarie Riverside was such a Godsend of a space to find and be able to rest. We enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts. We enjoyed sitting opposite the Hastings River. We enjoyed being surprised to see a dolphin swim on by three times for two days in a row. We enjoyed the quiet and appreciated that they went to the effort to install a compostable toilet for use. Yes, there was a little local traffic at the nearby boat ramp, but still on the side of a quiet country road. It was great for us..... and close to Port Macquarie but without all the people :)

We stayed over Easter and had a great time. Plenty of space, well manicured areas to set up on. Ross was a great host, checking in to see if we were ok and providing plenty of laughs. I even had a trail flight lesson with Ross which was amazing. Highly recommend staying here.

We've always loved camping at Stoney! Being able to relax under the stars by the lake or lagoon makes it feel like a million-dollar site. It ticks many boxes for us - not too expensive, dog-friendly, fires allowed, and freedom to camp where you want to with heaps of space available. Plus a lake to swim in and an aqua park to enjoy!
We were disappointed this year to find that Hipcampers now can't access the showers, which have been changed to coded doors. But we understand that this has helped to create some order in peak times, and if you're self-sufficient, it doesn't make much difference to the experience.

Great little spot for a family. Kids loved everything about it including the ferry over, the animals and helping feed them each morning, the pool, the flying fox and trampoline. Would definitely come back again!
