See eagles soaring above, echidnas, rosella and lots of kangaroos. Or, for the more adventurous, explore the nearby area and take a walk to the Big Hole and the Marble Arch. The kids will love playing in the Shoalhaven River (1km from property) where the rocks are ever changing as they are washed downstream. Wyanbene Caves are approx 6.5km away. Whilst you can enter the start of the cave, a permit is required for real cave exploration. We are centrally located being 90km from Cooma (partially dirt), 140km from Canberra and 100km from the coast at Batemans Bay. The closes town of Braidwood is 45km away. It boasts an IGA, fuel, coffee shops, boutique stores and lots more. We are at an elevation of between 700-800m so it can be quite chilly at night. Never mind, a sit round the fire pit will warm you up before bed. BYO firewood. There's plenty of kindling you can collect yourself in close proximity to camp areas. Being in the country, there are some creatures about that you may not want to encounter but need to be aware of. Snakes - black, brown, tiger, death adder. Keep your eyes open and wear boots or covered shoes. Not often seen in open paddocks. Hibernate during winter. Feral: Pigs, Dogs, Deer, Rabbits, Foxes (mostly unseen but leave their evidence around) Whilst you may bring your pets with you, they must be kept on leash at all times as neighbouring properties run livestock. There is 2km of good dirt road once you leave the sealed (but potholed at time of writing) Cooma Rd. You will need to cross the Shoalhaven River over a concrete causeway that is mostly dry. However, after heavy rain, the causeway can become flooded and impassable. Whilst this can be a little unpredictable for booking in advance, a full refund will be provided should your booking require cancellation due to flooding. Please bring your own potable water and your own toilet. Camp sites are continually being improved so please check out new campsites and facilities if you are rebooking for a future stay.

Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are numerous tracks with spectacular views around the property for bush walking or mountain bike riding. The tracks are surrounded by sub-alpine flora and fauna (such as wallaby's, wombats, lyrebirds) and nearby in the Tinderry Nature Reserve. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon. Summer temperatures are a pleasant 6 degrees or so cooler than nearby Canberra. You may choose between a number of options for camping depending on your camping desires and set up. There are numerous tracks around our property or nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. There is numerous species of bird life and regular calls from lyre birds. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. There is a composting toilet near the Civilisation site and also a tap (tank water). Camp fires are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. The exception is the bell tent glamping option,' Tin Can Ridge Glamping' which has a toilet included as well as firewood and shortly its own wood stove! Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. or gain access to the glamping tent with us escorting you. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

Our property is just 25 minutes from Canberra City but feels a world away, and offers a peaceful country paradise and wide open spaces. We have several sites for 100% self-contained campers, where you'll be spoilt with spectacular views of the Tinderry Mountains, access to undulating walking trails, and the Namadgi National Park nearby. On clear nights, the stars here are spellbinding. We have many animals here too! View our placid Scottish Galloway cattle (currently with calves!) pat our friendly poddy Cody and grab a photo opportunity. 5 fat Dorper sheep look like running rugs running around. A real country experience! An Angora goat and slashed tracks to access the beautiful 130 acres around the farm. The small village of Michelago is 5km from our property, has the fuel servo and a terrific General Store, which serves great burgers and milkshakes plus much more. 20mins to the town of Bredbo with its own pub is great for counter lunches and dinners. The Town of Cooma, the gateway to the Snowy mountains is a 40 min drive south. Also if you want to go camping with friends and introduce them to the great outdoors and they don’t have the gear ask about our hire service of all things needed to have a great camp, some are listed but more is always available to hire, just send me a message. Ian and Ros were wonderful hosts, their property is spectacular. We stayed on the highest point of the property. Ian led the way up the track the first time, quite a climb and some 4WD required but worth it! We ended up booking an extra night as we didn’t want to leave.

Moruya caravan park is amazing. Start from communication regarding your location. Always respond with one hour and happy to help you out. Second- water front side- amazing, quiet and clean. Whole caravan park is very clean including amenities. Laundry- so easy to use using your card to pay. No hustle with coin. We were there in winter- so if you want to have an amazing glass of wine next to fire 🔥, you can get a pit with bag of wood in the reception. Enjoy yourself

Ian’s block was great, perfect remote feel for not being super out of the way. The night there was great with beautiful views of the valley, crazy sunrise. Ian the legend came and towed me out when I decided to do a poorly chosen 3 point turn with bald tires. What a champ. Would come back in a heart beat for a multi night stay for sure.

Great river views, good site and amenities were wonderful, clean and even had a bath and large ensuite shower/toilet in amenities block. Walking distance to town, just over the bridge. We would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed staying here, amenities were clean and staff were friendly. The camp kitchen only has a barbecue which didn't impact our trip too much but just something to note, had a lovely stay

Location was great, close to town and beaches, not a big park so not too busy. Riverfront sites are large and lovely view. Pool and spa area great. Would definitely stay here again.

This is easily one of my favourite Hipcamp properties. It's exactly what it says on the tin - peace and quiet and a lot of space to find a suitable camp spot. Ian was amazing and a true blue Aussie who just wants to share his property with people that enjoy camping and know how to respectfully camp in a place like this. Great views and a great property. I had a 2wd and was able to get up part of the hill before the track needs a 4wd. Definitely recommend.

Weekend Trip to 1710 Smith Rd

We really enjoyed our stay — it’s a great spot for a quick getaway with spectacular views down the valley and an incredible sunset to complement. Ian came by for a friendly chat, shared some history about the property and even gave us a guided drive around to see a few of the other sites on offer. We had a heavier van with us, so we didn’t venture up the steeper 4WD tracks, but it was clear that the higher you go, the better the views get. Would recommend for anyone looking to unwind and sit around the fire.

Weekend Trip to 1710 Smith Rd

Absolutely loved staying at Ian's! We were lead up a remote 4WD track overlooking the surrounds on top of a mountain. It was a hard track so not for the faint hearted but exciting for a seasoned 4WD pro. There are other equally beautiful spots on his property that are 2WD accessible though so not to worry. Would definitely come back!
