🌿 The Hideout – A Unique Country Cabin/Caravan Escape -
The Hideout's rate is $120 per night plus a $90 one-time cleaning fee for a three-night minimum. Hipcamp shows a higher nightly total because it spreads the cleaning fee and service fees across one night, not your three-night minimum stay. For three nights it's $360 plus the $90 cleaning fee plus Hipcamp fees.
Looking for somewhere a little different? Welcome to The Hideout, a peaceful rural retreat tucked away in Gilston, just minutes from Nerang and an easy drive to the Gold Coast beaches, hinterland and attractions.
This is glamping with a difference — a private little setup "Caravan Cluster" with plenty of character and a genuine country feel.

Enjoy a slow morning coffee surrounded by fresh country air, watch the wildlife, or sit back and take in the stars at night. There are views towards two billabongs, and you can explore nearby nature and walking areas around Kirribilli Park Reserve.
Although it feels wonderfully tucked away, you're close to everything — Nerang/Mudgeeraba shops, cafés, restaurants, the M1, Gold Coast beaches and hinterland attractions are all within easy reach.
The accommodation is completely separate and private. Beyond the fence there is a quiet permanent resident approximately 50 metres away on the property that shares part of the driveway, but your space is your own. Steps are being constructed at the back to take guests down to the terrace/billabong however may or may not be completed at your visit time so please only use if all steps are completed.
A little something to keep in mind ⚡
The property has a limited electrical supply, so we're simply asking guests to be mindful with high-energy appliances such as heaters and cooking appliances. Everyday use of lights, refrigeration, TVs and charging devices is no problem.
The Hideout is suited to one or two adults. An additional queen-bedroom caravan can be made available for an extra fee by prior arrangement, with maximum occupancy of four adults.
If you're after privacy, nature and something a little quirky, The Hideout could be just the escape you're looking for.

Please be aware that the extra queen bed has a camping toilet (good for night time needs) and a small basin for washing hands however the main bathroom facilities are shared with the main setup (the fully functioning compost toilet etc.) - please see photos when available to fully understand the setup. If you're after privacy, nature and something a little quirky in an excellent location, The Hideout could be just the escape you're looking for. Toilet available
Composting toilet. Use as you would a normal toilet with the addition of a handful of sugar cane mulch (provided) after solids. The lid needs to please be kept shut between uses so that composting can occur. Toilet paper can be put in the bowl but no chemicals please. Spray bottle cleaner provided. Additional camping toilet is provided in extra van as a "night time" toilet so it is close at hand with hand washing sink beside
Pets allowed
Off leash. The back area of the site is fenced so a dog can be kept there. This area is adjacent to the back door and carport so please use those (door and portable fence) as a border also. The back end of the carport will need to be fenced off using the portable yellow fencing provided at the carport. An extra small dog will need to be assessed as to the suitability of the fence in containing the pet (and leash used if necessary - same for large dogs). Please pick up after your dog as would be expected and do not allow pets on inside furniture - thanks.
No campfires
Camping stove with coals and fire starters are provided for careful use.
Potable water available
Tap. The place is connected to water delivered by truck to holding tank - the same as town water ie. delivered and not captured from gutters etc. - however there is a filter jug in the fridge and a bench top water filter that can be used and refilled using the kitchen tap. Please use your own water if these arrangements do not suit you.
Showers available
Hot water , cold water only. Compact 10 litre hot-water system with water-efficient showers and continuous reheating. Recommend 3 minute showers and allowing 20 to 40 minutes between showers for reheating.
The kitchen sink also uses this small hot water system. Please be aware of possible limitations.
Cooking equipment present
Bbq, private, stovetop or hot plate, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, sink or other dishwashing station. The kitchen, while being small is well equiped and has an air-fryer, single induction hot plate, microwave oven, low wattage kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer and cooking/eating utensils and crockery. Please be aware that high energy appliances should not be used simultaneously (eg. toaster and air fryer or microwave and air-fryer/toaster) however if safety switch is tripped please just turn off offending appliance and flick the switch back up - the switches are located on the wall of the vans. There is a window over the main kitchen bench that can be opened to serve food through to the little internal court yard if desired (lift blind and open fly screen to then deliver through open window if desired)
Picnic table present
There is a table with seating for 6 in main outdoor area at the back while a small internal courtyard has seating for 2 and a table. There are additional "comfy" chairs at the back to relax in while taking in the view through bushland and down to the 2 billabongs.
Wifi available
The wifi is reasonable and better perhaps under some circumstances, if used outside - just hook on to netgear and use password to connect. Phone reception is good. The tv in the lounge room is a smart tv connected to the internet. Ask owner for wifi password please.
Laundry present
There is a medium sized washing machine and clothes hanging space outside of the back door. Please provide your own detergent.
Pack it out
There are bins present but it would be appreciated if you could please remove rubbish on your departure. A wheelie bin (with number 66 on it) is on the street in front of property on most Monday mornings and can be used to throw away rubbish.
