Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT/mud tyres only and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own chemical camping toilets. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. We reserve the right to view/verify your toilet before allowing you access to the elevated/remote sites. Well behaved dogs welcome as long as they are on a lead when moving about the property. The common area (old shearing shed) has composting toilets, communal fridge, microwave, jug, drinking water, sink for washing up and table/chairs. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.Stonesthrow Bush Camping suits self-contained 4WD campers with camper trailer/tent. Campsites should be selected based on weather, personal preference and size required. Bring all that you need and remove all rubbish upon leaving. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). The property is very private, offering peace of mind and security. When booking - please read the property rules carefully.  Dogs are welcome however we ask that you please discuss this with us first.

Stonesthrow Bush Camping
Peace and quiet a "Stonesthrow" away from Brissy and GC. Steve was absolutely lovely and a genuine person who loved a chat. The property is just gorgeous and tucked away with some good views up top. You do need your own toilet to camp up there though. Nothing better than having open camp fires too! Would 100% reccomend.

Legend of a host Steve. Poured down whilst we were there but everything stayed accessible and no signs of significant flooding. Highly recommend.

Perfect place so close to Brisbane
Amazing views and peaceful spot. Although there were other groups we couldn’t tell. Perfect place for a weekend away less than 1 hour from Brisbane. Steve and his family are great hosts and will make you feel very welcome.

Gorgeous campsite! Loved going to sleep to the sound of a bubbling brook. Great walk about the grounds with horses to meet along the way. Many thanks to Richard and Steve and Jan for hosting us.
