Binet Family Wines at Pokolbin Hill

Loved the location as it was near to every place we wanted to see. The view was breathtaking both on sunrise and sunset. Though we experienced a hiccup on 1 night and there's no sink in the toilet/shower area (not a big issue for us), the experience was very good. We got the whole campsite to ourselves, so it was a plus.

We had a lovely overnight stay at Binet. Power and water available made the early morning toasty warm to turn the heater on in the van. The sunset and sunrise was stunning. Amenities were new and clean. A nice added bonus was the wine tasting on site. Happy to come again. So much cheaper than accom around and our own bed. Win win.

Disappointed

Very disappointing experience and, unfortunately, absolutely no cooperation or understanding from the owners. Let me start by saying that I almost never leave a negative review, but this experience left us with a really unpleasant feeling. Yesterday afternoon, we booked an overnight stay for $120 at the winery. We arrived around 4:00 PM, with the idea of buying a nice bottle of wine and enjoying it at our camper while watching the sunset. Unfortunately, there was no one at the property when we arrived. After calling, we were told that someone would come. We ended up waiting for almost two hours before someone finally arrived to open the bathroom. After that, they simply left again, leaving us quite surprised and disappointed. We are not difficult people and decided to accept the situation and move on. We thought we would buy some wine the next day and stay for another night. Since the entire property was empty and we were the only guests, we asked if it would be possible to stay another night at a discounted rate. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no willingness to accommodate us or offer any kind of compromise. We were simply told that we would have to pay another $120. It feels very disappointing to have paid $120 just to sleep on a patch of grass. If we had known this beforehand, we could have stayed somewhere else for around $30. Unfortunately, there was no room for any solution or compromise, so we left the property early the next morning.

Camping Central to Polkolbin

It is an open area, horses in the next paddock and plenty of Kanga's. Easy walk to Hunter Valley Gardens and all venues around there. Still more work to do on the facilities but it was great having a toilet and shower. And being able to walk up for a great wine tasting. Thank you to Natalie.

Perfect location for visiting so many of the Pokolbin and Lovedale wineries.Pokolbin village very close for supplies. Camp site was so very peaceful with plenty of space. Clydesdale horses in next paddock, a mob of inquisitive roos at our door, black swans and pelicans on the dam, hills in the distance all made the site, picture perfect. Natalie our hostess was very welcoming. We'll visit again. 👍😊

It had the most beautiful view of the mountains and the sunrise and sunset were magic. Make sure to keep your dog on a lead as there are plenty of Kangaroos around. I highly recommend the wine tasting on site 😋

A really nice and hugely convenient spot to setup and go and tour the Hunter. Loved the outlook over the lake (or is it a dam), with the mountains of Pokolbin State Forest in the foreground and the birds, kangaroos and horses.

Views, horses and 5-Star amenities!

After staying at a few campsites through our trip to NSW, Natalie’s property and amenities were like a breath of fresh air! The brand new amenities made the stay and were well taken care of. And the closeness to a variety of wineries was awesome. A great way to see the Hunter Valley. Can’t wait to see what everything will look like when the renovations are all done and we will need to come back during the wineries business hours to try! The views, friendly horses and stars were perfect.

A gem….

While I know this is a little more pricey than other Hunter Valley alternatives. However, this site is extremely private. There is a lovely, premium hot shower and toilet on site (admittedly they are still doing some construction- however, it doesn’t impact) and best of all, one can walk to some outstanding vineyards / cheese factory. If you have a hound 🐾, it’s heaven. There was a tiny glitch on initial communications and I think some of the direction to the site wasn’t so clear, but all worked out well. When you come through the second gate, follow the driveway all the way past the dam on your right, to the second building with the gravel area.

The Binet family are incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts. I couldn’t recommend their property in Pokolbin more highly. The property is within walking distance of several wineries, including their own cellar door. Their wine tasting was one of the highlights of our trip, with some of our favourite wines from the entire Hunter Valley. They’re also in the process of adding more bathroom and shower facilities, which are modern, spotless, and very well maintained. The campsite itself offers both level gravel sites and grassy areas. A fantastic location, great facilities, and wonderful hosts. We would happily stay again.

Lovely camping spot on this big grassy field overlooking a dam. Extremely peaceful, yet central location, very close to all of the wineries and attractions of Pokolbin. There is a brand new toilet and shower which are amazing, but no basin yet (which didn’t bother us but might affect others).

We really enjoyed Natalie’s campsite for a great Hunter Valley location . It’s situated in a perfect precinct to get around easily., close to amazing restaurants, wineries & distilleries. Such a lovely atmosphere to also have a Cellar Door on-site. Also great there are bathroom facilities.

Beautiful location, the kangaroos and duck around the site were a great addition to our stay. Facilities are great and the view was incredible, not to mention the hot air balloons floating past. A great experience, will be back again.

Disappointed

Sadly I had a disappointing experience and would not revisit this site. Communication is the key to any successful operation and in this particular instance it was extremely lacking from my perspective. For the price it fell way short of a great experience, lack of communication meant I was unable to access the bathroom facilities. The site was pleasant enough but not outstanding, and certainly not worth the amount of money they ask for in my opinion. Location is convenient to wineries.
