Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we anticipate our Fire Danger Period for the 2025/2026 Summer Season will commence in the coming weeks. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. In event of the TFB toggle needing to be used on Hipcamp, this will advise all guests booked on that day and to all future guests. We will toggle it off once the TFB is removed. Pitch your completely self-sufficient sleeping quarters on our peaceful, flat, 7 acre property which backs onto the Bald Hill Nature Reserve and is less than five minutes drive from Kyneton’s historic Piper Street which is full of delightful restaurants and cafes. Take under an hour to drive up and explore beautiful Bendigo, experience delightful Daylesford nearby and meander around the wonderful wineries of the Macedon Ranges. Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions and must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA website 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. We have four separate camping locations on the property; you can easily have up to four RVs on sites 1, 2 and 4 and two on site 3. We have tried to ensure privacy for each location but you may be able to see other guests and/or the house through the many trees. Please be aware that there are two dams on the property so children should supervised at all times. My own children swim in the dam and there is a kayak available but lifejackets must be worn by children in, around and on the water to minimise risk. Pets are welcome. The kangaroos may prove quite enticing for some pets and as such we recommend dogs be kept on their leash. Site 4 has ringlock fencing and farm gates which can be helpful to contain your pets. Please be aware that the Kyneton Gun Club has their monthly clay target shoot on the 3rd Sunday of each month (2nd Sunday in December) from 11am until 5pm during which time you will hear them clay pigeon shooting. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. Guests under the age of 25 must be accompanied by their parents.

There is an abundance of birdlife at the camping location, including kookaburras, fairy wrens, greater shrike thrushes, robins, bellbirds, wedge-tail eagles, magpies and owls (namely boobooks). We are within easy reach of Toolangi State Forest with many walks and trails, including the WirraWilla Rainforest Walk and the Kalatha Giant Mountain Ash tree walk. This area is also popular for 4 wheel driving and there are plenty of tracks in the nearby state forest if you have the correct gear, vehicle and an appreciation for the wilderness. Healesville, Yarra Glen and Kinglake are equal distance away (18-20 minute drives) with services, plenty of cafes, restaurants, wineries and shopping: Healesville: Coles, IGA, Aldi Yarra Glen: IGA Kinglake: Foodworks Relax around the fire in the evenings (out of the fire danger season) and enjoy some great star gazing. Sorry, no pets. There is a toilet block onsite with a camp toilet but you can bring your own camping toilet if you desire. The private bathrooom is located in our rustic house less than 50 metres away (via an independent entrance). It includes a toilet, shower (over a bath) and a vanity, with fluffy towels and essential toiletries. An à la carte vegetarian or vegan breakfast with "tent service" is included. Homecooked dinners and Devonshire teas are also available by arrangement. Guests are welcome to use our 10 metre swimming pool (in summer), chiminea and BBQ area with sweeping views of the valley below.

Stay in a very comfortable and well appointed bell tent on in a beautiful tranquil bush setting on my 12 acre property. Nestled in a little valley. Lots of wildlife, beautiful walks and swimming hole is just up the road. The site is off grid but still has all the creature comforts. Shared bathroom with one other site with hot shower etc. wood heating and gas bbq provided

I very much enjoyed staying at Shack’s Bottom Padock - decided last minute to come here due to the total fire ban issues at the Grampians where I had originally booked. Damian was a great host - thank you for the fire pit and watering can, and also for checking in on me when it got a bit stormy.

We had an amazing time at the site by the lake. The group of 8 were evenly spaced out on comfortable flat grass. Ammenities were great to have and is a luxury during this occasion. I will definetly come back with a rod and reel next time!

This place is seriously beautiful, and the host was friendly and welcoming. The sites are spaced wide apart, and come with their own fire pit and toilet. The creek is gorgeous, and if you're lucky like I was, you'll see a platypus! There's a lot more to comment on but I don't want to ramble, so I suggest booking asap!

Loved the privacy and seclusion of the bottom paddock. Lots of room for our caravan and for our dog to run around in. Ally and Damian were the perfect hosts! And only a 5 min walk to the beach too… just perfect!

What a beautiful spot! Aaron welcomed us and showed us to camp where we had wood in abundance for the fire. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but love to come back and float/swim in the lake. Jem, the host was awesome in answering all my Q’s ahead of arrival as we camped with big group.

A spectacular place to stay. From lying in bed in the large tent watching the sheep and birds, cooking over the open fire, and enjoying the breeze while in the outdoor bath, we enjoyed every moment of it. Greeted warmly by the host on arrival. Adequate amenities provided for cooking and cleaning, and plenty of blankets to stay warm. Easy to buy firewood from the hosts - we let them know beforehand, and the firewood already at our campsite ready to use. We also really enjoyed the short hike up the hills to be greeted with amazing views. Would highly recommend, and hope we can come here again soon.

Absolutely amazing campsite. Not only it ticked all the boxes in my list, but also doing extra. Lots of space to choose from, clean and modern facilities, very helpful staff. And yes, fishing is good. We got a huge eel! Definitely would recommend and surely will come back.
