Weekend Trip to Silver Creek Escape

This is a brilliant location with great facilities. Excellent hosts. Right next to a national park at the end of a dead end road. Power and water with a compost loo. You can pre purchase firewood and treat yourself to farm eggs and wonderful sourdough loaf. Make sure you have a long power lead and a torch for the loo. We will be back.

From the moment we booked, there was direct communication with Robert. He met us at our arrival time and showed us to our site, which was well kept and tidy. This site did not disappoint, with a view looking out to the vineyard, visiting kangaroos at different times of the day. Will definitely visit again in Autumn or Spring as both sunrise and sunset will paint different lights to the view. Although all sites were occupied, we certainly didn't feel like we were onto of each other. Robert was very friendly and informative about the area, there is also a covered area to sit if the weather is too wet. Like others that have stayed, we did venture through the vines to the winery next door, the view at the top of the hill was stunning. Close to towns and wineries of Yarra Valley too. Robert, thank you for your generous hospitality and allowing us to share the tranquility of your property. M&M

3 nights at Yarra Valley Vineyard Views

Loved camping here, as it was quiet with Fantastic views of grape vines, low cloud, rainbows and sunny vistas. Rob gave great ‘to do’ suggestions for the local area. He also willingly checked my tyres, as I was ‘supporting an imbedded and unwanted nail!’ :) Thanks Rob and Suzie.

Weekend Trip to Kinglake East End

I loved tent camping at Maggie’s, if you want a digital detox this is the place to do it. Sitting beside the fire listening to kookaburras laughing and enjoying camping next to the bush. Watching the stars in the clear sky. Even saw a meteor. Thanks Maggie will be back for a longer stay.

Weekend Trip to Mt Hope Vineyard Estate.

Easy to locate and responsive upon arrival. Good little spot. Not extremely private as you are within line of sight from the house on the property and neighbouring houses but certainly far enough to have no issues at all. Booking site states camp-fires allowed and firewood provided; however, this appears out of date given no firewood or established place for a camp fire. Despite this owners were happy for us to have a small camp fire on the ground which we were appreciate of.

Shacks Paddock is immaculately cared for, the sites are mowed and are enormous, in an amazing location away from the Hussle and bussle and the value can't be beaten and Damian is an incredible host provided by fire pits to your site for free....this will definitely be a regular!!

1 night at Hut Amongst The Gum Trees

Absolutely LOVED our stay at the Antechinus hut. It has everything you need, stovetop, teapot, quiet, private, plenty of fire wood provided. The room stayed so toasty warm with the little fire heater. So much land to explore, especially loved spotting the roo and wallaby tracks around the dam. Megan was also such a lovely and relaxed host and made us feel more than welcome. We will return!

We loved the serenity and being in nature. We especially loved the comfort of the powder room! And we loved the fire pit. It was our first camping experience with three dogs and the camper trailer. We had plenty of room for camping and the dogs loved exploring the property. Thank you Lesley for a relaxing stay. We would love to visit again!

Weekend Trip to Hut Amongst The Gum Trees

This little cabin is cosy, more spacious than the pictures make it look, and warm the fireplace kept it very warm all night. The cabin feels disconnected and private, and is a good distance away from the main house. There is a great outdoor firepit, plenty of water, the cooking essentials, and a clean outhouse! The hosts are absolutely lovely and welcoming, and id stay there again in a heartbeat.

With close proximity to coffee shops and local stores of Romsey and Lancefield Providore, you have only a few minutes to drive to stock up on local produce. Walking the trials around Hanging Rock is a 10-minute drive and Mt Macedon lookout 15min. No power or water tap. But there is a spring to collect running water. This site has easy access to drive in with plenty of space to turn around. 2 different flat areas to choose from to set up. This property has two sites that can be booked, two different listings - (see Fowkes family flower farm for other listing) Only a 20-minute walk to the town of Kinglake and a minute drive. This site offers plenty of open space to safely have a campfire. Plenty of fallen branches and trees to cut up for firewood. Or purchase wood from the local food works, closing at 7pm OR the servo closing at 9pm. This site is on a 105-acre farm, with a private spring water swimming hole, water can be collected from the running water spring. The farm is home to a mob of kangaroos, please watch from a distance. You will also spot and hear wild deer. The site does have plenty of grassed area, but we will let you know there is a bit of black berry bushes that we will start removing over time. (This area we cannot use chemicals close to the water ways.) We have 2 goats Eve & Rain to help with the weeds and greeting our guests. This site has a lot of history from bottling water from the old factory, (no longer in use), Potatoe and berry farming and raising sheep. You will feel so relaxed in a private and tranquil site. We manage 2 sites on this farm and 2 sites on the neighboring farm. Taxi service - The Graceful-Goat to get you around to the local eats and wineries. The Kinglake market is on the 4th Sunday of each month 10-2pm except December which is the Sunday before Christmas - twilight 2-7pm No market in January. The St. Andrews market is every Saturday, 9am to 1pm just 12 minutes down the mountain. Whittlesea market is on every Monday 9am - 1pm *You will have access to Fowkes Family Farm to purchase and pick flowers and come along to feed the sheep.

Daylesford Hepburn Farm Camping

Enjoy the serenity! Bring your horses and your dog, bring your guitar, a good book, even bring a golf set and a bucket of balls. You will have 80 acres of stunning country all to yourselves. Only one booking taken at a time. No one else will be anywhere near! Self-contained campers only, please bring in what you need, and take all waste with you. Base price covers up to 8 people, with capacity capped at 12 people. The land is characterised by rolling hills, covered by mostly open grassland, with patches of gum trees for shade, and a dam and creek. There's also a native eucalypt forest right across the road with miles of fire trails for walking and horse riding. In the cooler months, the land turns from shades of gold to greens. There are no facilities, its just you and the land (bliss!) so ensure you have everything you need with you, and take all your waste when you leave. If you fancy fresh fish for dinner, just down the road is Tuki Trout Farm, or nearby Cairn Curran Reservoir and Tullaroop Reservoir are great for fishing. The tourist villages of Newstead, Clunes and Maldon are all a short drive away, and Daylesford is just 35km drive. Campfires are permitted when fire bans are not in place. NOTE: We do offer the neighbouring 50-acre paddock for hunting/shooting - with conditions. We have opened up a beautiful flat expanse at the rear of our five acre property and made it available to self contained campers and caravaners. We are travelers ourselves and often find it difficult to find peaceful yet secure spots that allow us to explore capital cities and the lovely areas around them. Most cities tend to have caravan parks in the outer suburbs and these can often resemble concrete jungles and be very busy leaving you feel like you have to pay a top premium to be cramped into a space. But what options do you have if you want to explore a vibrant city like Melbourne. See a show, do some shopping, eat out at some of the World's greatest restaurants. Yes, we all should splurge every now and then even when on the road. Our property lies at the very start of the Yarra Valley. It is surrounded on three sides by the magnificent Helens Hill vineyard. In the Summer months you can watch the fruit come onto the vines and in the Winter the views open up to see the kangaroos bouncing though the rows and often silhouetted against the skyline sunsets. We are less than 5 minutes to Lilydale town center. Supermarkets, restaurants, service centers, parts stores, hardware are all on the doorstep, yet looking out over the vines you wouldn't know. Lilydale is 38 kms from Melbourne CBD and there is a train station with ample day parking making it super easy to explore the heart of Melbourne and return 'home' to your country retreat for the night. Myki cards available on site FOC. There is a dump point only 3kms away at a local caravan park for those that need it and at our property water can be available to fill your tanks if needed for a small donation. There is no water or power connection on the sites but you can release your grey water to nourish the grass. Lilydale has a large laundromat available to you. We have a beautiful covered eating area with BBQ available so if the weather turns inclement you can still eat out yet under cover. All campers must be 100% self contained. These are remote sites with no connections and there are no toilet facilities available. We have restricted our area to a maximum of 6 sites to ensure that everyone has their space. Sites are not marked and locations will be on a first booked basis. Owners will direct you to your areas. The area is beautifully flat and does absorb water well but care must be taken to not tear it up after heavy rains. Please seek assistance from owners rather than tearing up the grass as a tractor is available. We can cater for large sized vans and even large motorhomes. Tents are welcome. The property is pet friendly but not fully fenced so your furry friends would need to be on lead. We have our own dogs on the property. Hipcamp being USA based describes the sites and vehicles in USA terms and lengths. There is no way to alter this but please be aware. We cater for Aussie sized caravans and 4wd vehicles. 14 or 15m long all up, no problem. Just in a 4x4 with roof top tent and awning, we have you covered. Cruising the country in a Commodore with a pop top, all good here. Please be aware that we do share a boundary with a working vineyard and they do occasionally have a tractor or crew out in the vines doing some work. There can be a bit of farm machinery work every now and then but this is beyond our control and generally very minimal as vines dont take much looking after unless its harvest night.

Penzance Bushland Retreat

... Hi there and welcome to our home, Penzance! We fell in love with our slice of heaven in 2010 and adore every back breaking inch of it. It was an over grown mess at the time, covered in broken bricks and beer cans. We've tried to keep the bush aspect while creating a park like surround with plenty of grassy space. We have big plans for our land and hope to build a steam museum in our other area over the creek. Excitingly, we will also be establishing a blacksmiths forge in that area, which was moved piece by piece from an historic farm at Avoca. Kinglake East End

91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property & family.

Hut Amongst The Gum Trees

Perfect place to stay for nature lovers. With an inside wood heater and verandas this hut makes a cosy winter stay away. A 40 acre bush block with a Trust for Nature Covenant. This box-ironbark woodland block has 2 dams and plenty of wildlife, a great place for bird watching. A self guided nature walk on the property provides you with an introduction to the local ecosystem. The hut has a double bed (bedding provided), gas stove with two burners and a grill, a long drop toilet, water tank (not drinkable) but drinkable water will be provided. The hut is close to one of the dams. Only one booking at a time so you won’t be sharing camping site with anyone. Owners live on the property but out of view and ear shot. A picnic set, kettle, camp stove and saucepans available for use. Solar lights inside, internal wood heater outside fire pit. Note no shower. Basic amount of wood provided for internal heater and cost $10/crate external fire pit, a crate should last one evening’s fire. Take the opportunity to explore the night sky with a large telescope. A guided 90 minute star gazing experience using 500mm diameter telescope is offered for $50/session to guests of the antechinus hut. Depending on the time of year you will see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. This is only offered when conditions allow, clear skies and no moonlight. Note this activity involves use of step ladder due to size of telescope. There are great bike rides off and on road, close to Cairn Curran (15km) for fishing and kayaking, also plenty of bushwalks and bird watching sites nearby. Newstead 5km away whilst Daylesford, Maldon and Castlemaine are about 25km away.

(800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. Barrm Birrm is a special place, full of wildlife and native vegetation, so we ask that you leave the place exactly as you found it. We are 10 minutes from Kinglake township and 15 mins to Yarra Glen, which means a quick trip if you need supplies. The highway is close by which makes it handy to get out and about. Wildlife we have seen on the property includes Wallabies, Echidna, and an abundance of bird life. Laugh with the Kookaburras at sunset. Dogs are welcome however due to wildlife and the bush location, we ask that you please keep them on a lead at all times. If you are planning on bringing a dog with you, please let us know in advance. We also have horses (separate from the campsite) that campers can feed a carrot if they wish! Water is available from our stables water tank. It is Tank water so not crystal clear but think of it as euculyptus tea! NB: **We do have neighbours and the highway near by so there will be some noise . Would suit campers who want to kick the footy, wade in the river and maybe go 4wding or out and about fishing.
