Great spot for our loud primary-school-aged kids: space to bike, explore, find insects, have a hammock snooze... Was quiet, but close to town (Dig Cafe make a nice brew), great walks along the river, short drives to many of our favourite small towns.. Overall a great weekend, and we would love to be back again some time. The peacefulness at the site was some of the best we've had in a while; thanks Blair!

Great site. It was very peaceful with lots of bird life. Plenty or room for our two tents. The shack is thoughtfully fitted out with a stove, pots and pans, plates, etc, and several cables for charging phones. The phone signal booster on the roof worked a treat. Overall, its a great spot. It was so nice being able to sit on a shady verandah to have a morning cuppa watching all of those birds.

Cosy nook with amenities aplenty! Every time we wanted for kitchenware, a side table, or bug spray it was already there. Blair gave clear and easy instructions for the hot water, gas and power. We had a beautiful weekend on this lil corner of bushland. The trees are full of inquisitive birds. A quick hot shower at the end of the day was such a treat while camping. You'll still be able to hear the occasional car on the nearby road, some distant music from neighbors, but the block is large enough to feel secluded and peaceful. Wonderful spot of nature.

Great spot with everything you could possibly need! Well kept hut and toilet/shower - very clean. So nice to sit around the fire at night and watch the bird life during the day. Close to Newstead, Maldon and Castlemaine too.

Absolutely awesome. Having a toilet, cooking facilities and a warm indoor place was fantastic. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to go for a glamping style experience. I have a swag which I absolutely love but also value the niceties of civilization. This place was perfect for what I wanted and I will be returning. Blair was an amazing host and super helpful.

We had a fantastic 4-night stay at Newstead Nook. You can really feel how much love and care has gone into creating this beautiful spot—everything is so thoughtfully set up. The cabin was a perfect base for our small group, with all the comforts you could want. Having hot water on tap was such a treat, and the shower was very much appreciated.
We especially enjoyed the wonderful birdlife around the property. The birding brochures in the cabin were a lovely touch and helped us identify many species we hadn’t seen before. It’s such a peaceful and inspiring place—private, comfortable, and surrounded by nature. Highly recommend, and we’d love to come back again.

Absolutely loved staying here with my mates! It was raining mildly the first day and the little shack was perfect to keep warm by the fire and do colouring/drink warm cups of tea. We were surrounded by nature and felt nicely secluded even though we were a couple minutes from town and only a 25 min drive from Daylesford. We would 1000% come back and stay here again!

We had a lovely weekend at Newstead Nook. Such a great little conservation block, with plenty of walks and towns to visit so close by. The cosy cabin was welcome shelter from the much needed rain, and we loved the hot shower!

This was a great spot for peace, quiet, solitude and birdwatching. It was great for the experience of being immersed deep in the bush, while also having facilities to stay comfortable… and a short drive away from town. Blair was great with communication and the place was spotless and well set up.

Repeat visitors to Blair's amazing spot. Surrounded by gum trees, private and peaceful. Great facilities with the cabin, its verandah, an outdoor toilet and shower with hot water. Couldn't recommend more.

If you are looking to find peace and immerse yourself in nature, this is the perfect spot. Tucked away on a gravel road, the campsite is absolutely beautiful. So much bird life and the occasional kangaroo ! The addition of the facilities in the shack make for an easy, relaxing visit. Plenty to do in the surrounding area or just sit among the trees and breathe. We absolutely loved it and would love to go back in winter and make the most of the woodburner!
Blair was great to communicate with from the start and there were very clear instructions for how everything worked.
Perfect antidote to the stresses of real life.

We stayed for 7 nights in our campervan and enjoyed every moment there. Blair was a wonderful host and has a lovely well kept property and with the added bonus of the shack, toilet and hot shower we couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful getaway. Lots of different birds and we had a visit from an echidna and some kangaroos. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning there again. Thanks again Blair.

We had a relaxing stay at Blair’s. The shed had all the essentials, and the privacy of having a site to ourselves was such a luxury. Shame the dam wasn’t fuller but can’t fight an Aussie summer! Blair was kind enough to recommend some local swimming spots. Thanks so much.

One of the most stress free camps I’ve ever done! Beautiful private space, and fantastic amenities. Was great to have the shack to escape the sun for a bit as not much shade on a hot sunny day. Waterholes nearby for a dip too. We had so much fun and will definitely be back. Thanks so much Blair!

Beautiful little spot. Very private and quiet. Lots of birdlife. The shack was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We slept in our van but the shack gave us somewhere to hang out while it was raining. Will probably come back and would definitely recommend. Blair was a great host and communicated very well.

We really enjoyed our stay at Newstead Nook, in fact it surpassed our expectations. Blair was great to communicate with and we enjoyed having the convenience of the small fridge, stove and lovely wood burner especially on a cool Autumn night. We were delighted to wake up to two kangaroos in the morning and an unexpected koala up high on one of the trees on the property. Definitely highly recommended and on our return visit list.

An excellent stay, the shack provides the luxury of having a small kitchen and lounge that fits around 2 people when camping - the best of both worlds, especially if the weather turns wet. Blair was prompt and clear in his communication. Location is a bit removed from town on a rural block with full privacy, and an easy drive to Newstead, Maldon and Castlemaine.

We loved staying at Newstead Nook. It’s beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the work that’s been done with planting to make it better for the wildlife. The shack and the facilities are well designed and easy to use. It had everything we needed.

Great little slice of paradise in the bush - private, peaceful and has everything you need. The shack is brilliant and the outdoor shower and portable toilet very handy.
Blair is excellent and explained everything re: directions and how to use the facilities clearly.
Highly recommended spot if you're after some peace and quiet amongst the gum trees

We absolutely loved Blair’s place. So peaceful, and quaint. The shack is well-equipped, and a great base. It was very hot the weekend we visited, but we’d love to visit again in cooler weather and try out the fireplace in the shack. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!
