Welcome to Casa Cucina or the River House, a whimsical, quiet space to chill and enjoy the unique environment, calm and beauty. PLEASE NOTE UP FRONT, Our page says 1 site, this site can hold 4 caravans and 2 tents at any one time, in one group. Each Van/ tent allows for 2 adults. For more than one van, you add to the booking on the last page of booking. If you are unsure, please inbox me BEFORE completing your booking. We are 1 hour East of Melbourne along the M1, (and a couple of kms off the M1). Situated in West Gippsland, Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses from the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, as well as ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. As a reminder, all campers will need to be Self Contained as we have no toilet facilities, no access to fresh water, cold showers only and no cooking facilities. Also remember if you wish to have a fire in our firepit, you MUST bring your own wood.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sharon & Richie’s hip camp! It was so beautiful and peaceful. Richie went out of his way to ensure we found a great spot on his property. We wished we could have stayed longer, it was our favourite spot we stayed in on our recent trip!

This was our second 🦊 Camp for our end of year celebrations at this spot. Great choicec once again. Secluded, quiet, well set out campsite to be able support a group of young guys have a great time to blow off a little steam at the end of a very busy year. BBQ'ing, swimming in the fantastic billabong, camp fires, beer, whiskey, music, impromptu cricket match and lots of laughs were had by all. Chris's place by the river is beautiful. The sound of the river and the birds was breathtaking. The grounds were extremely neat and tidy and the little hut was very quirky and interesting. We sat in there one afternoon when it got quite windy so it was very handy. Chris was very quick responding to any communication and very friendly.

Second time at Graces land! What a treat to be close to Melbourne and yet feel like you’re much further out! Enjoyed our stay here! Initially staying 3 nights however weather turned upside down on the last evening and didn’t want have our gear drying for the rest of the week if we stayed the last night, great amenities and Grace and her dogs are very accommodating and kind. Great place!

We had an amazing relaxing time here. Grace and her family are such warm and welcoming hosts, happy to help, share stories, checked in to make sure all is well, recommended good spots for hikes, sunsets etc. Best eggs ive had! The property is stunning , clean clear air, rolling hills, no matter the weather the energy was perfect. A very special spot, Nature at its finest, a serene escape indeed. Facilities were on point, very clean, hot showers, excelent toilets, good shade from the trees, spacious sites, plenty of privacy. Highly recommend. The fenced off area is well maintained and can comfortably fit 3 vans. It is also pet friendly, so dogs have plenty of space to roam off lead. There is also a cute little room where you can hang out if the weather is not being nice.

Such a beautiful serene setting, with lots of grass to relax on, tables to sit under trees and a lovely river flowing past. Chris made us feel so welcome, and we loved the addition of the pretty river house, which we sat in when the weather was a bit too windy. Everything about this place was just lovely and we highly recommend it.
