Conveniently located between Launceston and Devonport, Buckbill Banks Camping offers a beautiful, level camping area overlooking Quamby Brook Creek.
The 35-acre property offers views of Quamby Bluff, and various options to explore and relax. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Although we take several bookings at once, you are guaranteed a secluded nook, there is plenty of space.
Choose a wood fired hot tub site beside the creek or choose general creekside camping beside the creek. Imagine star gazing from the hot tub of an evening, whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the resident platypus in their natural habitat! Firewood is provided for the hot tub, you may buy wood on site for your individual campfires. The hot Tub is not for wild parties, but to relax and view the native wild life, quietly watch the platypus in their natural environment.
Please note, we accept one camper trailer/caravan per booking. If you are traveling in a group with multiple caravans, you will need to book multiple sites - but will still be able to camp close together although we dont allow big noisy, disruptive groups anymore! The property has good access for all types of vehicles.

Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions.
There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning.
The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition.
FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE A MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS ISSUE BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOME HAVE ABUSED THE FAIR RULES SO THIS IS NOW THE SITUATION.

The Craigbourne Dam is a all year round recreational fishing ground and stocks many species of fish i.e. Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout to name a few.

We had a lovely couple of days and nights at Lily’s place, really peaceful and quiet, great little set-up, yet still close to town. Lily is lovely, she met us on arrival to say hello and show us everything. There is drinking water and firewood, a BBQ and pizza oven, and a few little shelters to sit in too. A little duck pond to sit next to, lots of birdlife and the ducks gave us much amusement! We hope to visit again soon!

Quiet spot there is a road above but its not a busy road. We did not find the river very accessible (not that we tried) hubby did have a few flicks of the rod after hearing fish jumping but no luck.
Was still nice and relaxing overlooking the river and the reflections in the water, enjoyed a fire each night with the wood supplied.
Look for Richard the Rooster who nests in a tree across the river each night, he was happy to wake us up with his cock-a-doodle-dooing.
If you like a quiet spot for just you or you and some friends this is the spot for you.

Great campsie. Parked our RV in the paddock, some shadey spots. Watch out for a few geese poops, easy to get around. Had a great time feeding animals with the grandkids. They pepperberry tour/information was also informative and interesting. Lovely hosts.

Wonderful location, beautiful views. Close to interesting places to visit, eg. Fernvale , rhododendron gardens, Stanley and excellent restaurants. Loved the ducks and horses (who all lined up to watch us leave). A truly wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven!

Beautiful location and excellent value for money.
Just a few minutes from Bicheno which is a lovely town with all amenities and a stones throw from Douglas Apsley national park.
