Waratah itself offers breathtaking natural beauty, with picturesque lakes perfect for fishing and a stunning waterfall right in the center of town. Take a refreshing walk to its base or embark on the scenic trek to Philosopher’s Falls, where the magic of the Tasmanian wilderness awaits.
Steeped in Australian history, Waratah was home to the first tin mine and the birthplace of electricity in the region. Explore the town’s rich heritage through its historical landmarks and fascinating stories from the past.
Please note that there are limited restaurants and food options available in Waratah, so be sure to bring your own supplies to ensure you're well-prepared. There is a Farm Shop onsite for a few basics. All self-contained RV's are welcome, and you’re free to pull up anywhere on the property that suits your vehicle, but all campers must be fully self-contained.
NOTE: Paddock parking - the paddock varies from even to uneven and ground can be soft in wet weather.

The 35-acre property offers views of Quamby Bluff, and various options to explore and relax. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Although we take several bookings at once, you are guaranteed a secluded nook, there is plenty of space.
There is a wood fired hot tub beside the creek, which all campers have access to. Imagine star gazing from the hot tub of an evening, or enjoying a morning soak whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the resident platypus in their natural habitat! Firewood is provided for the hot tub, you may buy wood on site for your individual campfires. The hot Tub is not for wild parties, but to relax and view the native wild life, quietly watch the platypus in their natural environment.
Please note, we accept one camper trailer/caravan per booking. If you are traveling in a group with multiple caravans, you will need to book multiple sites - but will still be able to camp close together although we dont allow big noisy, disruptive groups anymore! This was our first ever Hipcamp stay and it was the perfect experience. The property is absolutely stunning. The camp site was very flat with lovely green grass and surrounds, a creek, a swing, a large picnic table, fire pit and dog friendly. Kathryn is a gorgeous human - so kind, warm and friendly. She told us everything we needed to know, provided fire wood with fire lighters and matches, as well as delivered a warm jar of homemade jam that made Sunday breakfast extra special. We didn’t want to leave and my boys are already asking when we can go back. Thank you so much for having us Kathryn and Alex and for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.

Kath and Alex have created a truly wonderful site. We loved our 2 night camp. Super peaceful and private, we fell asleep to the sound of the waves across the road. Enough room for the dog and toddler to have a good play and we loved walking through and picking the last of the berries! Kath and Alex were lovely and really accommodating. They’ve taken great care an ensured there’s really easy access to the beach too.
We’re already planning to come back with friends!

We had a wonderful stay with Kath & Alex – one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Beforehand, we received detailed information, which made it easy to find the farm without any trouble. Kath welcomed us with a jar of homemade jam (so delicious and perfect for breakfast the next morning) and showed us our camping spot.
The paddock is very spacious and set in a beautifully peaceful natural environment. Our kids absolutely loved the swing and the small adventure trail down to the beach. In the evening, we were able to use the cosy fire pit and picnic area for dinner.
The next day there were no new guests arriving, so we were able to stay longer and enjoy a relaxed start to the day. We would have loved to stay longer, but unfortunately we already had another place booked that we couldn’t cancel.
We can highly recommend Woodleigh – the perfect place to stay on Bruny Island – and we’re very grateful for the lovely time we spent there.

Beautiful host and a lovely farm. Grounds are a little undulating but easy enough to find a level spot. We felt very safe leaving our van and belongings there while we toured the area.
