Close to transport with direct routes to the city, easy access to Café’s, Bistro’s, hotels and shopping centres. A short 15 minute drive to the city, hospitals, beaches and fabulous shopping precincts. A 60 minute drive to the wine regions of the Barossa Valley and 25 minutes to McLaren Vale.
Steeped in history and wild life, Brownhill Creek Tourist Park offers the ease of access to many walking and cycling trails where ruins of the early 1900’s can be seen along with the 400 year old tree in the centre of the park called “The Monach”.

Please do not go down the 4WD only road to Beltana, proceed to the bitumen Road and follow the signs.
Beltana is a State Heritage listed town in Adnyamathanha country. Beltana
is important as it is the home of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, was influential in the establishment of the Overland Telegraph and was important is the states early settlement. Beltana has survived in spite of the challenges
and has an excellent walking trail detailing this history for visitors.
There is capacity to have a fire in a communal fire pit, but please bring your own wood. Dogs on leashes welcome.
This campsite offers a safe and comfortable place for campers who are travelling through on their holiday and need somewhere to stop overnight, but two nights is recommended to give you a chance to visit this historic town.
The town is significant is South Australian history and there is interpretative signage that provides the visitor with an informative trail.

We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy.
Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). Bring your own bedding. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided).
The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery.
Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing.
Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda.
Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. You can order a wheelbarrow load for $30, or bring your own. Dogs are permitted, but please understand, we are a sheep stud and need to ensure no disturbance from dogs. Please advise if you intend to bring your dog.

It was so peaceful and relaxing. The surroundings were stunning. The Caravan Park was nice, tidy, clean and all the amenities worked perfectly. The pool, playground, cafe & BBQ areas were always clean and well stocked. The staff were polite and helpful, always asking was everything ok and did you need anything whenever you passed them. Other campers were courteous and friendly. We will be heading back there again soon.

Lovely well kept site with amazingly clean facilities (hot showers, toilets, swimming pool). Owners were incredibly helpful and kind. Cafe on site as well. Phone/data coverage is very limited the further in the site you go (unpowered site section particularly) but it's only a short walk up towards the office to be online.

Weekend Trip to Eckert’s Old Place
Our group of 10 (some love proper camping, others not so much) very much enjoyed our time at eckerts old place.
Being able to have a quick shower, have access to a flushing toilet and shelter when windy/rainy made all the difference!
Will definitely be making a return, maybe when it’s a little cooler to cozy around the fire pit!

We had a great stay at Chris and Philip’s place. They were helpful with answering any questions that we had and checking in with us which was lovely. The property was beautiful and quiet, the cottage was clean and had everything we need including a nice spot of well kept grass to relax on. It was also amazing to see the history and read about and see the photos of the restoration that has been done at the cottage, we truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again.

Nice rolling hills to camp on, there are few flat spots and some on a slight slope. Plenty of space. Nothing significantly pretty about the place, but still nice countryside views. Area was tidy and mowed. Good amount of firewood for $25

I had a great stay and thank you to Russell and Alison for being so positive in opening up their property to motorcycle camping. I found a great spot to pitch my tent and it was nice to sit back and enjoy the afternoon, as well as the colour changes with the setting sun.

Our host was lovely and welcoming and the campsite was perfect. A lovely outlook of trees and open farmland. Peaceful with only the sounds of sheep and birds for company. We’ll definitely be keeping this one on our list of stays in future.

Great spot to stay off grid with 6-7 individual sites on the property. Some sites are close enough together that you could stay with a group but still have your own space. Only one other caravan there when we stayed so we were very secluded and couldn’t see them directly from our site. Good size long drop toilet area with motion lighting for night use. Very clean.
Hosts were friendly though we rarely saw them. $25 for a decent size container of firewood delivered to our site seemed pretty reasonable. It’s a natural area, so the sites have a small slope and you might need some extra caravan levellers pending your setup and site. Easy drive to Clare and Burra. Our dogs loved the property’s dam! Our favourite Hip Camp so far. 😊

Great little historic village, campsite had good amenities, clean and tidy. Lovely little hotel nearby that has just reopened for an afternoon ale on the veranda. The progress association has done an amazing job in restoring the town and displaying the history. Great base to explore the area.
