Relax around a campfire on a peaceful dam and listen to the kookaburras. Dip your toes into the cool water whilst sipping watching the sunset. It is 10km to the upgraded Fitzroy River/Thompson Point boat ramp and pontoon. Enjoy some excellent fishing and crabbing on the river, bird watching and bush walking up the many hills. Only 1/2 hr. drive to the beaches (Emu Park and Yeppoon), National Parks (Mt Etna Caves, Mt Archer Baga, Limestone Creek), and Rockhampton (Kershaw Gardens and Rockhampton Free Zoo). Campfires in the firepits provided on each site. Pre-cut fire wood for sale on site. Pets are welcome, however the must be kept within your allocated campsite area and supervised at all time. (Dogs are not allowed to chase livestock or native animals). Quiet genset are also allowed. Definitely no boats to be backed into the dam for washing purposes. Fish cleaning and boat washing facilities at the solar bore near front entrance. Telstra mobile reception. TV reception with antenna. We a setup for fully self contained camping, however there is a basic bush shower/toilet available for our campers. The dam is a pristine eco area and no soap/detergents/chemicals to used in/around it. The dam is stocked with silver perch and bass – catch and release. Camp site caters for 2 Adults and up to 4 kids per site. Come and Take-A-Break.

You can even paddle past Captain Cook’s landing point and on towards the headland to watch the sun set over the ocean (a rare sight on Australia’s East coast). Follow the trail or take your mountain bike along boardwalks and across stepping stones on the 1.5 hr, 3km Red Rock Trail. You can start your adventure at the end of Springs Beach and head south along rocky trails peppered with pandanus palms all the way to the far end of Red Rock Beach. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. There is access to drinking water and a picnic table for meals. Plenty of space for bushwalking or sit back around camp fire or just read books. There are some great mountain views to be seen while walking around and site seeing, and Eurimbula National Park is close by.
