Our property is 4WD access. You are risking your booking and vehicle if you turn up in a 2WD or family SUV.
See Extras for booking park and ride option if your vehicle is 2WD.
UPDATE as of late July 2025 - the creek is dry.. Some of our tracks are rutted and may become slippery in wet weather. We do basic maintenance to keep access open for 4WDS. Be prepared to apply your 4WD skills.
Kobble Creek West is accessible from several locations on our property boundary. Ideal for creek exploring and rock hopping. There’s even a small lagoon now awaiting.
Check out the short hiking trails on our property (there are hike options suitable to your preferred difficulty). Bring your machete for an even greater hiking experience!
You can relax by or in the spring fed dam, explore seasonal Kobble Creek, feed the chickens or goats, spot the abundant bird life, or sit patiently and a deer or fox may appear at dusk.
Enjoy the evenings sitting around the campfire as you gaze at the stars.
All sites have sufficient spacing from other sites to ensure acceptable privacy. You are welcome to enjoy our off-grid camping with the expectation that facilities are minimal.
NOTE: Surcharges exist for a number of circumstances, including day visitors and single-night bookings. These can be found in the Extras and must be added at the time of booking for your request to be accepted.
NOTE: Please also indicate that you are 4WD and your camping platform and size as you book. This enables us to site you appropriately.

We are 10km north of the town of Crows Nest on the Great Dividing Range. 50 minutes from Toowoomba and 2 hours from Brisbane.
The hill on the property (Flat Top) is one of the highest points in the area at 700m altitude.
From the hilltop, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding area, with views across the Esk Valley towards the Sunshine Coast and sunsets over the hills surrounding Crows Nest.
There are 3 separate campsites on the hilltop, and another site further down the hill alongside the main driveway.

Our property is 4WD access. You are risking your booking and vehicle if you turn up in a 2WD or family SUV.
See Extras for booking park and ride option if your vehicle is 2WD.
UPDATE as of late July 2025 - the creek is dry.. Some of our tracks are rutted and may become slippery in wet weather. We do basic maintenance to keep access open for 4WDS. Be prepared to apply your 4WD skills.
Kobble Creek West is accessible from several locations on our property boundary. Ideal for creek exploring and rock hopping. There’s even a small lagoon now awaiting.
Check out the short hiking trails on our property (there are hike options suitable to your preferred difficulty). Bring your machete for an even greater hiking experience!
You can relax by or in the spring fed dam, explore seasonal Kobble Creek, feed the chickens or goats, spot the abundant bird life, or sit patiently and a deer or fox may appear at dusk.
Enjoy the evenings sitting around the campfire as you gaze at the stars.
All sites have sufficient spacing from other sites to ensure acceptable privacy. You are welcome to enjoy our off-grid camping with the expectation that facilities are minimal.
NOTE: Surcharges exist for a number of circumstances, including day visitors and single-night bookings. These can be found in the Extras and must be added at the time of booking for your request to be accepted.
NOTE: Please also indicate that you are 4WD and your camping platform and size as you book. This enables us to site you appropriately.
NOTE: Each site has a stand alone camping toilet bucket, located behind a small shade cloth screen near your camp site. You’ll have a seat to sit on, a lid to close, and the need to throw some Leaves and grass in each time you go.

There’s a small cabin on site, you can book the campsite either with or without this. The cabin is quite basic, it has 12v lighting with a USB port suitable for charging phones etc, and a bunk bed with mattresses (double bottom, single top), but you'll need to bring your own bedding.

We are happy for you to come and camp on your own or book the entire place if you have an event, large groups are welcome. There is a designated area that can be hired for parties and private functions with marquees available if required.
Pets are welcome and must be under control and on a leash as there are farm animals kept on this property.
Camp fires are permitted in communal fire areas or at your camp in provided fire drums. There is a limited number of fire drums available, so you are welcome to bring your own. The only exception will be if a local fire ban is activated. We have firewood available for sale, or you can collect free firewood off the ground. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood. No chainsaws allowed.
Please note that there is no potable water on site. You must bring your own DRINKING water.
During extreme weather events the property can be affected, so if rain is forecast, please call before heading out.

The Grandchester hotel is a short 10min walk away and offers cold drinks, great meals and friendly country hospitality.
Spicers Hidden Vale is approximately 6km away and perfect for bike riders.

It turned out to be such a romantic camping trip filled with wonderful memories.
It rained heavily starting the day before departure, so I contacted them, and they told me the place wasn’t affected by the weather, so we decided to come anyway.
We arrived on a rainy day and it rained a lot for the next two days. On the day we were supposed to go home, the sun finally came out, so we extended our stay by one more day.
It’s a place that is incredibly beautiful both in the rain and in the sunshine. The restrooms and shower facilities were extremely clean and perfect.
Since we stayed for three nights, it might have been even better if there had been a sink for dishwash, but it was still perfectly fine without one.
We truly had a happy time here.
We will definitely come back again.

Weekend Trip to Nine Mountains Glamping
What a fantastic stay we had, even though the weather gods were not on our side. The views were absolutely amazing and made the whole place feel really special. The full kitchen setup was awesome and had everything we needed, which made cooking and relaxing easy. The obvious highlight was the dual bathtubs and hammocks looking out to the mountains — such a great way to unwind. The yurt itself was really spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing and secluded getaway.

Bare’s Hideaway was a lovely farm style camping experience! The paddocks had great views and were well kept, with flushing toilets and hot showers close by. Paul and Tracy were amazing hosts, making sure we had everything we needed, even taking us to see the new born piglets in their farm.

This gem is way bigger and better than the photos show! Such a quiet, peaceful and natural outlook with clean and charismatic facilities built out of recycled materials. The just were lovely and have though out everything, each day Paul and Tracy would drive past to check if we needed anything and Paul was nice enough to take us to feed the pigs, piglets, sheep and goats. We will be back for sure for such an authentic farm stay.

What a lovely spot at Bares Hideaway! Given the small number of campers they accept, there was plenty of space to spread out. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of toilets and showers. Wherever you chose to set up your camp, you were never far from amenities.
During our stay there was a large group there for a celebration but they were far enough away not to bother us.
We will look forward to coming back again!

Overall a nice quiet spot with good views and the company of the animals. Couldn’t really fault anything, only downside was wasp nest surrounding the showers which gave myself a sting when turning on the pump. Other than that not a bad spot for a night or two.

Our first visit to Bares Hideaway and won't be our last! Paul is a top bloke and very easy to chat to. There are a few different camp site options with something for everyone. We stayed at the Shell camp and were interested to see the goats, sheep and pigs. There are a few old buildings to have a look at and the amenities were excellent! We will be back! Thanks guys

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bares Hideaway. The location is beautiful. The facilities are basic, but very clean and functional. The people who greeted us were friendly, polite and helpful. For the price it was better than I expected, and I would happily stay again. The only downside for me was that none of the farm animals came to visit when I was there. I am happy to reccommend this place to others.

Lots of great sites in a natural gully, lots of flat open terrain in the Windmill Paddock by the (dry) creek. Hot showers and lovely clean flush toilets. Suits families with kids for that off grid bush adventure, one bar 5G so you’re not entirely out of comms. Highly recommended!

Nice and peaceful property. Stayed near the dam, there is a road nearby but no traffic at all. Grass was maintained, not too long. Porta loo’s very very clean (probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen tbh). Handy little camp kitchen area. Owners were very friendly too

We had the pleasure of meeting our host, Ryan, who was both warm and welcoming. His knowledge of the area and its history was impressive, and his passion for the land was truly evident. The care and dedication he puts into maintaining the HiCamp site really stood out.
The location itself was wonderful, offering the serenity and natural beauty of the Australian bush. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the sense of having the space entirely to ourselves.
