Fantastic swimming or lazing in the running water. -Push bikes, Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is 5min away if you jump on at Borallon Station Rd. Some cattle tracks for the kids to ride along in the paddock also. -Wivenhoe, Somerset Dam in the area for water sports -Wildlife watching, this paddock sustains a large variety of native animals, if you’ve got a keen eye -Bottle Tree pub is just down the road, - bit more than walking distance tho :) -Take it easy.

Every 3rd Sunday is our market day, the renowned Blackbutt Bakery is always at your disposal and a great pub for a pub grub night. The horse trails network is 500m up the road and has signage with town 1 hour ride away which I can take you on a ride to on the 3rd Sunday Market Day! I have access to the rail trail via private property, or otherwise you can utilise Staines Road to get into Benarkin State Forestry or the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Dogs are also welcome who are well behaved and on a leash if others have horses with them. Please note that you MUST ensure your dog has tick prevention prior to arrival. Bookings require pre approval please. This is non negotiable to prepare for your stay. All welcome to visit and please enjoy a campsite that will only ever have 2 bookings at a time in the 1 acre camping area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing peaceful stay This campsite is beautifully maintained and feels very secure. It’s completely private and incredibly quiet — the perfect place to relax and switch off. I was curious about the wood-fire heated outdoor bath, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Heating the water with fire and bathing under the stars after a hot day was absolutely incredible. Such a special off-grid moment. The nearby river and creek are also stunning — perfect for cooling down and enjoying nature. Overall, my stay was so relaxing and peaceful. I also want to apologise — when I was leaving, my car bumped into one of the wooden benches near the fire pit. The timber was heavier than I expected, and I wasn’t able to put it back perfectly. I’m very sorry for that. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful place. I’d love to come back again.

Thoroughly enjoyed 5 nights camping at The Gums with my dogs. I am a repeat customer and love the serenity there. The almost 4 hour return trip is always worth it. Received a nice supply of wood which I pre-ordered and got to meet more of the host family who are lovely people and really take care of their property and their campers. It was great to see the Monarch butterfly (plus other butterfly’s) thriving on the milkweed plant. Monarch butterfly numbers are dwindling in Australia so this was such a blessing to see. Had fun searching for their caterpillars also! Enjoyed watching the resident Willy wagtails with their two offspring, the resident kingfisher and magpies plus all the other birds and reptiles spotted during our walks.

I absolutely loved the Valley Views campsite and it was such a peaceful location. Had the cows and new calves visit me one morning which was extra special. Laura and Neil were very friendly and took me up to the campsite. Unfortunately there were a lot of thunderstorms around each night so left a day earlier than anticipated but intend on coming back when the weather has settled.

Was a great experience, well maintained spot to camp on. Host was very respectful and made sure we where aware of the wet weather coming. Was also very responsive to talk to. And firewood is only 15 bucks a load. Would recommend this spot to any hipcampers looking for a nice private spot in our beautiful country. I will be booking here again.

I travel with Dogs, so this spot is spacious enough that we can relax when we need to, swim & go for trail sniffs if we want to, watch the birds & jets, or shelter from sun/rain as necessary under one of the multiple structures or abundance of trees 🥰🐶 Thanks to the kindness of the hosts (who are also Dog lovers) & the locked gate, we always feel safe here!

Weekend Trip to Sandy Creek Camping

We had a lovely little overnighter at "Kippa's Rest". The area is flat and well shaded with plenty of fallen timber for firewood. There are two other campsites within a few hundred metres, but we didn't hear anything from the neighbours, unless we were up on top of the rise gathering firewood. We contemplated a 3min drive down to the Bottle tree Hotel at Glamorganvale, but we stayed in and enjoyed the serenity instead. Lots of bird life and zero light pollution - we'll take our telescope next time.
