The Highfields Pioneer Village covers an area of 20 acres of picturesque grounds with over 70 buildings of historic interest, pleasant surroundings and picnic facilities. It is located just 15kms north of Toowoomba. Our property is part of the Highfields Pioneer Village* complex located just 20 minutes from Toowoomba. This campsite is a wonderful place to rest whilst taking in the scenic surroundings of the village which is the home of the Big Cow. Visit the Toowoomba Fire Brigade Museum which houses an historic collection of memorabilia, documenting the story of the people who have worked every day to keep us safe from fires since 1877. The collection includes Uniforms, Badges & patches, historical records & photographs and over 6 Historic Fire Engine Vehicles, Apparatus, Models & Collectibles. Visit the iconic Ambulance Museum that tells the story of Ambulance services in Queensland. We are within easy reach of Highland Falls which has some great walking tracks and view points of the falls. Pets are also permitted in this bushland area but must be on a leash. We are just 3 mins from local shops, McDonald's, KFC. This is the perfect spot for those who want to wind down and escape the hustle and bustle. We have amenities available and pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times. Sorry, no campfires. Bush Camping. The Cafe onsite is now open on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. *Tickets to the Village are optional and can be purchased onsite from the Kiosk. Recommended time to view the Pioneer Village is at least 2 hours. The Pioneer Village complex is open from 10am to 4pm Daily. Glossary of Terms: Potable Water: means drinking water in a jug, bucket or other pot, it does not mean water hook up. We are Bush Camping we do not provide water hook up, sorry. We are a short walk or drive from NASH Horse Treking for those who want to do a pub lunch ride on a horse. It is a fantastic experience so Google them to book. We are a very short 900m bicycle ride from the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BRVT) which is one of the must-do cycle treks in the southern hemisphere. If you or your crew need a place to stay while riding the trail then this is perfect for you. The town of Esk and two major dams are very close by where you can browse the antique shops, waterski, or fish to your heart's content. We are also close to Fernvale where there are big Sunday Markets.

Lalapanzi is a private 17ha (40 acre) bush block with two dwellings and some ancillary buildings. The property is 10 km outside of Toowoomba in the Flagstone Creek valley. Lalapanzi Heights is a secluded semi-developed exclusive campsite about 400m away from the dwellings and a base for bush hiking, exploration, bird watching or just relaxing. Your bookings are exclusive, so once you have booked, the other sites are blocked off. 2WD accessible to parking area. 4X4 access to camp site in dry conditions at drivers own risk. The road is not suitable for caravans. Walk-in access approximately 400m uphill pathway. Campfires are not available during fire ban season. A limited amount of firewood is provided but it is recommended that you bring your own if you are staying more than one night. Dogs permitted on leash, but are not allowed in the Rondavel.

Welcome to “Karinya” which means peaceful and happy home. We are delighted to share our property with those that appreciate nature and want to take some time out amongst the gum trees. We are on a koala and wildlife corridor so respect for our wildlife as well as our domestic livestock is essential. We are conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway but once you set up camp, you will feel miles away from anywhere. Relax at camp or wander down to the creek to swim, fish or kayak (if the seasons are favourable); birdwatch, hike or mountain bike along the ridge; wander our flower field (seasonal picking available at additional cost); visit with the cattle and miniature ponies; stargaze and enjoy a camp fire (if there are no fire bans). If you want to explore the region, we are only 18klms from Toowoomba or Gatton and you can slip up Springbluff to easily access Highfields/Crows Nest area. Plenty of space to choose your camp, with very limited numbers accepted. Potable water available but Council requirements mean you must be fully self contained. Nearest dump point will be Gatton Showgrounds. The criticism of our space by some campers has been the nearby railway line. We have become immune to it but for some the passing coal trains is annoying. They are sporadiac - sometimes frequent, other times not. If you don't like trains, perhaps Karinya is not for you :( Leave no trace.

We stayed at site 14 and it was perfect, tucked away at the back of the property where it was quiet and secluded. The two lovely dogs came and kept us company for the stay and loved the attention we gave them. Lots and lots of pats were given, we loved having the dogs company. Would highly recommend staying here.

The camping was fantastic. Was a little confusing when first arrived, but worked it out pretty quickly. The number on the letter box at the top of the dirt road threw us, but you just turn down the dirt road and you are there. We camped down the back under the trees. was nice and shaded. You can hear the trains which are extremely loud of a night but i didn't mind that at all, was quite soothing. On the second night you couldn't hear them at all, they blended in with every other nature sounds. They do have toilets on the property, just be mindful of fellow campers using them as well. The water in the creek was very clear and inviting, was magical early morning with the sunrise watching the ducks and water birds, was peaceful. The birds have nests in the trees. Great to watch as they fed their young ones. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved every second exploring and swimming. Was great getting back to nature. Thank you Kym for a great stay.

It's a nice spot the train noise didn't bother us. The creek was good for a swim. Plenty of trees around for shade. The ground where clean and mowed. Handy spot with shops at withcott only 5 mins away.

Peaceful rural setting, plenty of space, old but clean amenities. Pay entry to the village once, and were able to re-enter every day during our stay. Fantastic historic village - sooo much to see! MUST see is the transport museum, but everything very interesting. Would definitely come again. Probably not when as cold at night as last week!

Excellent off grid camping with 3 small children. We stayed at site 14. Endless supply of firewood. Close to Atkinson dam for a swim. If you want to be left alone from the world then site 14 is the spot. Simon is a 5 star host.

I went with a group of 8 and was allowed to swap from site 5 to site 9 as soon as we pulled up wich was super good for us because we could play music and be loud without any issues the farm dogs are super friendly and playful overall it’s a great spot especially if u want to go to the pokies while camping

The camping area was nice but not close to the water like I had hoped. I was a little confused about the fact that we had to bring our own toilet but there was a few toilets there but I didn't mind bringing our own. It was nice that no one else was camping there and I guess that's what you are paying for although I thought the price could be cheaper considering the lack of facilities. The trains were quite frequent and noisy but we were definitely pre-warned about that so not that bad really. The fire pit was great and it was nice being able to gather fallen logs from around the site area.
