Property: A 695-acre council registered tourist back-to-basic bush camping and 4WD park located in the picturesque Scenic Rim region just over an hour drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Perfect for 4WD enthusiasts, bushwalkers, mountain bikers, and anyone that just wants to get back to nature.
Amenities: We encourage self-sufficient bush camping. There are chemical toilets near the campsites. Hot showers and a flushing toilet if required are back at the main car park. showers 7am to 5pm as there is no night driving
We do not charge for children under 5 years of age. Please do not add this age-group to your booking. Children's rate is charged from 5 year to 16 years. You will need to adjust your booking as Hipcamp adult rate charge starts from 12 years old.
Generators are permitted to recharge batteries but not permitted to be on constantly. Please advises if required for medical reasons.
We are pet friendly however must comply with "dogs in Public Laws" be on leads at all times. We are a glass beer bottle free park. We do sell bags of wood and ice

* Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge.
* Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight.
Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party.

Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot!
The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS.
The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites.
Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent.
We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top.
Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking.
We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you.

Previously the property was a cattle farm and piggery owned by the same family and passed down the generations. More recently about 25 years ago it was rented to a builder who had a saw mill operating here. We purchased the property about 10 years ago with plans of creating Estate Lodges Caravan & Camping.
Our pet-friendly property offers unpowered sites for campers to enjoy all this area has to offer. Explore our bush walking tracks, enjoy some bird watching and see what wildlife you can spot! Your evenings can be spent around supplied fire pits gazing at the stars. We have soft drinks & firewood for sale.
Please note, access to power may be possible to arrange, at an additional cost. If you require power, please let us know when you send through your booking request and we can advise further.
There is access nearby to horse riding, hot air ballooning and skydiving. We are also closely located to Canungra golf course.

We were only planning on staying a couple of nights but due to circumstances beyond our control ended up being here five nights. The location is fabulous, close to so many shops, there are choices of pools, the amenities are very well maintained. It’s quiet considering the volume of patrons. We stayed in a motor home site then a cabin. We swam, we used the BBQ’s, we ate in the bistro, used the laundry all of which were great but the outstanding thing for us was the staff- particularly reception. They accommodated our tricky situation with ease and we appreciated it immensely. Thank you very much.

Loved camping here, we stayed on a campervan site and the amenities and facilities at Nobby's Beach Holiday Village we great, clean and tidy, neat and the caravan park was kept in very good condition. Highly recommend it and its in a very good location. We could easily walk across to the road to the beach and local cafes and shops.

Beautiful view in amongst the trees.
Nice toilet/change room for camping guests.
Basic grassed area for camping on, power if needed.
Nice spa area however extra fees to utilise.
Could consider allowing guests a complimentary spa/sauna as part of the price (could increase slightly), as just for the campsite it’s a bit pricier currently.

For us, there was a natural beauty, a peaceful tranquility and a hospitable hostess. We enjoyed being able to soak in the sunrise colours over the valley then the changing scenery of each sunset. We also enjoyed listening to the birds and watching the parrots develop their nest.
Yes, it is by a road, however, we live near a highway, so the “bits of traffic” was not an issue for us.
Yes, we would recommend this spot as you are the only campers, and ( though the property can host others) we still had our space, views and privacy.

We got unlucky with the weather, sadly no view. There had been so much rain so the entry and exit was tricky and the grass long and wet.
Yes you are close to the road but you are staying in a suburb, not the bush so there is going to be noises.
The hosts are lovely and helpful. I can see how it would be amazing on a clear day.
Unlucky with the sauna not working on the day either but spa in the rain was still good.
