Rosebrook River Camp gives you your own private retreat, far away from the crowds but only a few minutes from the beating heart of the Hunter Valley.
Our property is situated in the locality of Rosebrook, a fertile area steeped in a rich dairying history. We're only 10 minutes from Maitland and 25 minutes from the Vineyards, but the privacy of the camp site makes it feel like you're miles from anywhere. You've got direct access to the Hunter River with a sandy beach, great swimming holes and it's perfect for a peaceful kayak up or down stream, dependent on river levels at the time of your stay. Bring your own kayak or use ours for a small fee.
For those a bit more adventurous, we take you via road to our drop off point and you paddle downstream (a leisurely 3 hours) until you arrive at the beach near your campsite. There are heaps of places to stop and have some lunch and a swim on the way.
The site is a drive through level, grassy area and easily accessed by 2WD vehicle if you're not towing. For caravans and camper trailers, a 4WD is recommended but it's pretty easy going.
Pets are welcome, but MUST stay within the site paddock if not on a lead. Our neighbours have stock and it's important we are always respectful toward them.
A garbage bin and recycle bin is provided but you will need your own toilet. There is a designated area for a fire (when conditions permit) and we can supply firewood if required for a small fee.
We’ve kept things simple and natural because that’s the way we like it. It’s a true bush camp — plenty of space, plenty of privacy, and no fuss. We just ask that everyone who stays treats the place with respect and leaves it as they found it, so the next campers can enjoy it too.
Whether you’re here for a quiet weekend, a bit of fishing, or just to switch off from the world for a while, this is the place to do it.

Rosebrook River Camp gives you your own private retreat, far away from the crowds but only a few minutes from the beating heart of the Hunter Valley.
Our property is situated in the locality of Rosebrook, a fertile area steeped in a rich dairying history. We're only 10 minutes from Maitland and 25 minutes from the Vineyards, but the privacy of the camp site makes it feel like you're miles from anywhere. You've got direct access to the Hunter River with a sandy beach, great swimming holes and it's perfect for a peaceful kayak up or down stream, dependent on river levels at the time of your stay. Bring your own kayak or use ours for a small fee.
For those a bit more adventurous, we take you via road to our drop off point and you paddle downstream (a leisurely 3 hours) until you arrive at the beach near your campsite. There are heaps of places to stop and have some lunch and a swim on the way.
The site is a drive through level, grassy area and easily accessed by 2WD vehicle if you're not towing. For caravans and camper trailers, a 4WD is recommended but it's pretty easy going.
Pets are welcome, but MUST stay within the site paddock if not on a lead. Our neighbours have stock and it's important we are always respectful toward them.
A garbage bin and recycle bin is provided but you will need your own toilet. There is a designated area for a fire (when conditions permit) and we can supply firewood if required for a small fee.
We’ve kept things simple and natural because that’s the way we like it. It’s a true bush camp — plenty of space, plenty of privacy, and no fuss. We just ask that everyone who stays treats the place with respect and leaves it as they found it, so the next campers can enjoy it too.
Whether you’re here for a quiet weekend, a bit of fishing, or just to switch off from the world for a while, this is the place to do it.
So come on out, take a deep breath, and slow down for a few days. You’ll soon see why we love it here and why it’s hard to leave once you’ve settled in.

An easy 20 minute drive from the M1 (Pacific Motorway) Morisset exit, Wombat Flats Campsite is an exclusive, quiet and private camping area at the back of our 100 acres. We only book one group at a time so you will have the entire site and facilities all to yourselves! There is no traffic noise: all you will hear is the sound of the bush! The campsite borders Watagan National Park and guests can access the park directly through our back gate for bushwalking activities. I was lucky enough to have the whole place to myself. There is a very short walk to the river which was perfect for me to have a fish in the afternoon. Nice flat area to set up my camp. Recommend for anyone who is a self sufficient camper

Had a great stay at Mick’s place. Awesome setting with easy access to the river and all to yourself. My dogs loved it. The cows and their calves were entertaining to watch while having a cuppa! It was lovely to meet Mick. He is an excellent host, friendly and great communicator. Made us feel very welcome.

Cranky Rock camp is fantastic! Even though it was the end of a long weekend when I arrived and there were plenty of other campers, the sites are all very large and there is plenty of room for all. The facilities (composting toilets) are clean and well maintained. Communication pre-arrival was excellent. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Drove down into the campsite during a 37 degree day. Heavy tree cover was a saving grace and did help in making it cooler. Campsite is very spacious and quite secluded from other campers. Robert was extremely helpful and helped us in guiding the campsite and also left a few things for us like some hot plates for cooking.
The bathroom is kept extremely clean and had no smell.
There is plenty of firewood available around the campsite.
The drive into the campsite was a bit tricky. It is an uphill drive on rocky terrain. We drove in on an all wheel drive and was able to drive relatively stress free. However I would reccomend that you drive in with a car that has some clearance as there are a few rocks on the trail.
There is a hill a few hundred metres away from the site which does have Optus and Telstra coverage. However for the most part service is limited.
I would definitely recommend this campsite and a big shoutout to Robert for being so kind and helpful.

We really loved camping on Brian and Sallys farm- the spot was totally private, beautiful scenery on the farm and surrounding area with lots to do, but most importantly it was very peaceful and amazing not having wifi/signal to totally unwind. Loved seeing lots of wildlife including wombats!
Both Sally and Brian were so welcoming and showed us around the hives and invited us in for a lovely chat!
