Wombat Flats Campsite is an exclusive, private camping area at the back of our 100 acres. We only book one group at a time, so you will have the entire site and facilities all to yourselves! The campsite borders Watagan National Park and guests can access the park directly through our back gate for bushwalking activities. Our farm itself includes walking trails, a dam and plenty of native wildlife, including birds, wombats, wallabies, echidnas and reptiles. We are devoted to horses and care for a diverse herd that includes some rescue brumbies and other beautiful equines you may meet on your walks. The closest cafe (Bistro Eden, a popular spot for coffee and food) is 15 minutes drive, and the closest Coles/Woolworths is 20 minutes drive away at Morisset. The Hunter Valley is an easy 1 hour drive away, with many wineries and restaurants to choose from. Fishing activities in Dora Creek or Lake Macquarie (15 - 20 minutes drive) are a popular pastime, as are beaches activities (45 minutes drive away). One site only! You will have the entire site and facilities all to yourselves. Wombat Flats Campsite is a flat grassy space on our farm. It sits beside Kingfisher Dam with the Watagan Mountains National Park as a backdrop. Our farm is 100 acres and Wombat Flats campsite is to the rear of the property, approximately 400 metres from our farmhouse. The site is bathed in morning sun and afternoon shade is provided by the magnificent Cheese trees at the rear of the campsite. It is perfect for guests who want peace and privacy in a bush setting with hiking access to the national park or around the farm. **Please note maximum number of caravans/camper trailers is 2 **

Windy Weekend
We had a great time around the fire over a very windy weekend! the valley provided a good amount of a wind break and a picturesque view of the valley and surrounds. Quiet and private with no neighbors to worry about and facilities that were perfect for our needs (rainwater to a basic camp kitchen and bathroom with a view) . Our very friendly Hosts, Adriell and Brian were great & maintain a very well kept area! A few dog visitors from neighboring properties but no trouble at all. The property has a very nice proximity to the national park and surrounds if you wanted to get out and about too. Not much ground wood around but Johns timber was good value for money otherwise BYO.

Great time!
Our stay was incredible And full of adventure. We enjoyed having access to a little bit of shelter and the wood stove just in case we had wet weather. It was a very important camping trip because it was our first with a nine-year-old and a four-year-old. Will definitely be back!!!

Fantastic little escape!
Perfect little spot for our getaway 😎 The hosts were lovely. The location is close to necessity bits but quiet & peaceful! It was a shame we had had so many wet rainfall days leading up to our stay, as it was very wet & muddy but we had a great time all the same. Can't wait to book another weekend away in the warmer drier months! 🏕😊

What a well set up camp site!! Even with unfortunate weather we still had a great time. The under cover area, with the fire place was perfect! The site is so peaceful and it’s such a bonus to have it all to yourself! The hosts had great communication and were very friendly. Showed us to the site, made sure we had what we needed and then left us to be. We look forward to coming back!

We loved our time at Wombat Flats. The campsite was wonderful – very private, beautiful views of the surrounding forest and protected from the wind. The resident birds were very friendly (strikethrush and lots of fairy wren and kookaburras). The shelter setup was great with everything we needed - the Ozpig was a winner for all our cooking and kept us warm at night. There are some great challenging cycling loop routes you can do in the area if that’s your thing (gravel cycling and mountain bike). John is a terrific, responsive host who knows a lot about the history of the area. One of the best Hipcamps we've been to.
