Weekend Trip to Joadja Gorge Retreat & Camping

Absolutely loved staying here. The Paddock has plenty of room and well maintained. It had a lovely fire pit set up and lots of firewood to collect. Leanne was so friendly and made the effort to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed and knew where the toilet and firewood was. The toilet was clean and well maintained. The naturewalks were stunning as well. The perfect place to relax and unwind. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The Missingham Creek campsite was really nice and secluded. A little uneven so it was hard to find the perfect spot to pitch the tents but otherwise it was private, maintained and a great location for a weekend.

Weekend Trip to Truffle Farm Camping

We absolutely loved camping at the truffle farm. The cows and horses were incredibly cute and the little walk to the river was gorgeous, we felt like we were on the edge of the earth. The stars overnight were beautiful and the fresh farm eggs in the morning were a delightful touch. I'd love to be back!

Elsie is lovely host. The property is very peaceful and spacious. Our site next to the running creek was full of bird life and beautiful flora. Having our dog with us in a peacefull setting was very rejuvenating. And also very close to Milton and the beaches.

Beautiful spot. Wayne was super friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the camel experience - highly recommend! Also a great spot for some bird watching if you're a fan. Saw some golden whistlers, scarlet robins, tons of crimson rosellas, a wedge tailed eagle and more.

It was a private and quiet spot to bunker down for the night. Had plenty of space and a fire pit with a pile of wood to use. My daughter got to fed the baby calves and pat some horses which she absolutely loved. Had little phone service with Telstra but didn’t matter to us for one night.

We absolutely loved our stay! We were in a very secluded spot and barely noticed the other 2 guests, we had cows visiting us every morning, and Kate’s donkey tour is a must! Will definitely be coming back.

Wayne was very nice and personally led us into the retreat. There were not that many campers and the portaloo was very nice and clean! Happy to stay again and the area was really nice and secluded where we stayed!

Wandy Donkey Camp is so pretty, it has beautiful views in the evening and morning. There’s a petrol station really nearby too which is handy for basic essentials. Kate’s explanation of the entrance was brilliant. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back again soon!

Another perfect stay at Elsie's property. Plenty of firewood available and the weather was just perfect for the Easter Long Weekend. Plenty of swims in the creek for the kids and very short trip into Milton for supplies if needed.

This was our second stay at the Elsie’s beautiful property and we had a wonderful time, again! The Coral Trees site is perfect for us, alongside the burbling creek, and plenty of all-day sunshine, great for recharging our Vitamin D and our camper’s solar panels. All of the sites were occupied (it was Easter long weekend), but the sites are so well spaced, we felt as though we were there by ourselves. Love bringing our dogs with us. Plenty to see and do in the region, but we were happy to enjoy just “being” and soaking up the beautiful location. Thank you, Elsie. Hope to visit again soon.

We really liked our overnight stay in the paddock. Kate was quick to respond, very friendly and gave good directions. The paddock is large with nice views. There were about 4 others campers in the paddock but spots were well spaced out and everyone was pretty quiet.

Excellent!! Private spot, with lovely view. Woke up to Kangaroos in the field, heaven on earth! Kate was sublime, so accomodating, even after a 12 hour night shift, she took the time to show us the donkeys and goats. Will definitely be returning!!

Camping at The Wandy Donkey Farm was great. Kate welcomed us and showed us to our site, which had lovely views, particularly for stargazing, as well as adorable cows roaming free with little calves. Kate also showed us her donkeys and goats, which we were very grateful for.

100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. Dogs are accepted but please keep them on a leash as we have an abundance of wildlife, wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and birds, as well as our own dogs, horses, pigs, goats and a cat. 'Elouera Vale' Farm

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre where you will find all the shops, cafes and restaurants for your needs. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, one of our favourite foodie spots (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). While you're here please try the Cool Climate wines. The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention us). The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. Please DO NOT dig toilet hole, even though you leave it covered, it doesn't take long for the foxes to dig it up and leave a real mess!! Campfires permitted in designated areas. There is mobile reception. No shooting, archery or hunting. No trail bikes. Do not damage trees, there is plenty of firewood on the ground. Don't forget your mozzie repellent.
