2 nights at Buxton Getaway

Our family of three and a dog had a very peaceful time at 'Secret Getaway', Buxton Avenue. Luckily, the entire campsite was for us. However, even with other guests, I guess, the campsites are well-distanced and spaced out for privacy. Campsite-2, where we had camped had a small pond overlooking, which in the evening gave a magical feel to our experience. A river at walking distance and a free kayaking experience in the property added to the bonus amenities. The toilets were clean and adequate potable water was supplied. My dog Milo had a wonderful time chasing elusive kangaroos. Hosts, Victor and Luvina were wonderful and kind enough to come and meet us to check if everything was fine. 1 night at Canoelands Valley Camping

It's so close from Sydney, full phone connection throughout the day and night, great hosts and amazing views. Ticks all the boxes. We'd definitely be back soon.

5 nights at NSW Ski Gardens

If your thinking about visiting Wisemans ferry there isn't a better place to stay!!! The most picturesque views!! I would highly recommend getting a powered site. You get you own undercover area, bbq and gorgeous inlet into the river. The amenities are cleaned and the entire grounds are 10/10. Close by to the shops and a gorgeous pub- cold beer and great food. It is also a great fishing and swimming spot! We were just passing through here but our dog needed to undergo emergency surgery and were instructed that he can't be moved for the 4 weeks. The owners moved heaven and earth and allowed us to stay here for our boy could heal. It's truly feels like you are on a tropical island and hands down one of our best stays in Australia 10/10

Check in to check out was a breeze. Great facilities. Lots of space and bins at each camp spot. Beautiful river to walk along. Highly recommend :)

2 nights at C Colo - just beautiful

The area we camped at had a few camp sites but we were the only ones there so it was very peaceful. The campsite we had was secluded from all the others with a wall of greenery and purple flowers and the river to one side. Another boon was the campfire. There was an old milk tank cut in half which elevated the fire and was perfect for cooking over and also radiated some good heat. They also have some wood there for purchase so you never need to worry about running out. The owner is also very friendly and pops in each night to make sure you're all good and to share some cool history of the area. They also have some bangin' brownies. Only one downside for us was the trucks crossing the bridge nearby early in the morning but honestly, it won't stop us from being back, absolutely loved it.

My favourite place to come back to. There's just something about waking up to the call of lyrebirds and mooing of the cows. Nice big secluded 4wd sites too. Easy check in and campsite instructions as always.

Weekend Trip to Jila Camp Grounds

What a spot! We had a group of 8 with 4 different camping arrangements a combo of camper trailers, tents and roof top tents. It housed us all perfectly. The public toilet amenities and camp sinks were very handy and tidy. The river is absolutely gorgeous and so clear. We floated and paddle boarded down, slowly walking back up stream. There are a lot of fire spots to choose from however some are very close to each other. We had another group of about 10 about 50m away however they could have come closer if they chose to which wouldn’t have been fun. The sites were clean and in great locations! Phil was so easy to communicate with and the toilets got tidied daily. From what we could see the glamping tents/showers/toilets and cooking facilities that come with them were pretty epic too. Liked how there was recycling and bins on the property. Thanks for a fab stay.

Weekend Trip to Myrtle Ridge farm

We were the only campers on a very wet weekend which turned out to be beautiful! Bev was very welcoming and lovely, even moving us to another area of the site so we could have some shelter if the rain got heavier. The space was clean and nestled so close to Sydney for a quick last minute getaway. It’s like a secret oasis nested in the bush. Highly recommend!

Amazing scenic camping spot, plenty of room to spread out. Lots of wildlife that are unafraid of people but also keep their distance. The alpacas add to the feel of the place. The toilet and showers are basic but clean.

3 nights at Buxton Getaway

A quiet peaceful campsite, with a flushing toilet . 2 dams & a lovely walk to the river. Spacious sites with firepit, tables & chairs. Great communication from hosts, a great place for a few nights away from the hustle & bustle of the colity for me n my dog 🐾🪻

1 night at Otford Park nr Royal National Park

The place was great. Toilet and shower were very good. Good area for camping and we could see some wild Deers. Would stay there again for sure and 100% recommend it.

2 nights at Jila Camp Grounds

Great campsite not far from the city. Easy to get to and good communication from the host. Beautiful river and beach for kids to play in. Spacious camp sites and flushing toilets. No firewood provided however you can find lots of kindling and small branches.

The land is beautiful, lots of space and can find your own private area quite easily. Lots of kangaroos which was really fun

The campsite is located on the high side of the property that looks over into the valley & has stunning views of the Berowra National Park. There is a multitude of walking, hiking and mountain bike trails. There are also many nearby horse riding trails. The property backs on to Calabash Creek which is like a rain Forrest once you get down to the valley floor. Berowra waters is near by, whereby many fishing, canoeing, boating activities are available, coupled with some great cafes/restaurants. Campfires are allowed as long as there are no restrictions in place and they are supervised. Pets are welcome and can be off leash, however are the responsibility of their human parents. The property has ample room to accommodate larger groups that might want to hold milestone celebrations such as Birthday parties, whereby all sites will be closed to accommodate such events. Recently Calabash Haven hosted a party of 50 people for 50th Bday celebration. Feel free to inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs. All cooking must be undertaken at the fire circle. NO COOKING AT THE PARKING AREA AT ALL. Cooking at the fire circle not only maintains basic fire safety, but protects the precious flora and fauna at the site, as well as adds to your own privacy. There are some great areas for hiking, bike riding, bird watching and more. Set on the western foreshore of Lake Macquarie, which has the bush in its backyard. Find a patch of shade for a picnic in Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area where you can spot kangaroos and other wildlife. Please ask before feeding them! Camping toilets are available for use. Local kangaroos sometimes drop by. Plenty of wildlife with kookaburras, parrots, currawongs and even a shy wombat. Mini goats are sometimes on the property as well. There are many amazing local bush walks and plenty of fascinating history and things to do. Space for one car, tent, caravan or trailer 10m x 4m wide clear flat area with easy access next to outdoor seating and fire pit. For larger vehicles book site 2. 2 minute drive to cafes and shops and town centre, bus stop is 100m away, train station 1 km away. We are conveniently close to town so you may hear occasional noise yet mostly quiet. Lithgow tourism centre has plenty of information and activities to do. There are scenic lookouts, climbing, canyoning, bike trails or simply relax with great eateries and historical sites. Fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart.You may collect water from the creek. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. If you need more wood simply message me. There is a camping toilet with toilet paper and hand sanitizer supplied. Well behaved pets are welcome and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to adventure too far from your site and disturb the local wildlife or other campers. No cats as there are many native birds. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. If you are interested in free accommodation, we are open to exchange labour as they is always plenty to do on the farm.

Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost.
