4WD only (clearance of 20cm+ needed). Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo, and a short drive to swimming at Turon and Coorongooba National Parks, sightseeing at Glen Davis, bird watching near Glen Alice and the terrific cafe ‘From the Paddock’. Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!) Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients) on so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance. If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently. Each campsite is a VERY long way from other sites - usually about 800m. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 950 acres of untouched bush. You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Rocklee is a good site for star gazing. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use exisiing fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you. (You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks. Sorry!)

Escape the Hustle in Nellies Glen – Megalong Valley Before you book: We accommodate car campers and hikers. → Car camping bookings are limited to ensure guests enjoy a quiet stay without being impacted by others, and to reduce the impact on our roads and environment. Please ensure your vehicle has sufficient clearance for off-road access. → Hikers are almost always welcome. Hiking sites are for those walking the Six Foot Track from Katoomba or Jenolan Caves. Nellies Glen is a stop along the Six Foot Track, spanning the grassy flats of Megalong Creek that the locals (wombats) call home. This private campground is ready for your next getaway. Right among the Aussie scrub and surrounded by the escarpments of Narrowneck and Ngula Bulgarabang, you'll feel a million miles away — but you’re not. A 1.5-hour walk from Katoomba along the Six Foot Track, or a half-hour trip from Blackheath, will land you at this stunning spot in the Megalong Valley. Explore the Six Foot Track, Devil’s Hole, or other Narrowneck passes on foot, and find your own special slice of Megalong Creek for a refreshing dip. Sling up a hammock, watch the sunset over the escarpment, and see the stars fill the sky. If you’ve driven into the valley, be sure to check out the local wineries, restaurants, and tearooms. This laid-back property is all about privacy — allowing you to connect with your surroundings and respect the bush while having a great time. We’re a family-friendly property and love seeing kids and dogs running around — but we’re not the place for loud music or late-night parties. Exclusivity can be arranged for organisations such as schools, community groups, workshops, or low-key weddings. Otherwise, please note that we or other campers may be present in other areas of the property.

The property consists of a straw bale house, Tipis, Cottages, 5 stars shared facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets - disable toilet ), outdoor kitchen (gas bbq, pizza oven, all kitchen utensils, pots ), solar system and worm farm septic system. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. They are designated walking tracks around the property with all variable lengths & difficulties. Swimming pool, water hole to cool down in summer Pets friendly Access all-wheel drive Events possible Please enjoy some of the reviews our previous guests have left for us: "Wanderlust has a beautiful hidden valley and thanks for sharing with us.
