Whether you're bringing your own gear or opting for the Pop-Up Camp Extra, this secluded site is all yours - just you, your family, and friends. With plenty of space, even the largest RVs can park comfortably on secure, level ground. The Pop-Up Camp is perfect for first-time campers, those without gear, or anyone joining friends who are already set up. See our EXTRAS to learn more and book. Enjoy the freedom of camping with none of the stress - just arrive, relax, and make the most of your time in nature. Trout and fly anglers love our stretch of the river, as do bird watchers, nature lovers of any kind and just about anyone who loves the bush and being close to water. Campfires on the river and BBQs are loads of fun when permitted. We have kangaroos in abundance, wombats and platypus. We are just 1.8 kms from the O'Connell Hotel if you're in the mood for a good old country pub feed. Bathurst and Oberon are both 20 Kms either side of O'Connell with the word famous Mayfield Garden just 15 minutes drive away. Or, just relax and soak up the peace and quiet of the Aussie bush right on the river. Unless opting for the Pop-Up camp, guests must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. This campsite is quite a distance from the Farm Site. You will have the River Camp all to yourself without other campers around. *Pets are most welcome and must be ON LEASH*.  Campfires are welcome in fire pit.

While this site doesn’t have river access, it is full of charm, privacy, and Windy Oaks’ signature “all to yourself” peace. Even if there are guests camping down by the river, you won’t see or hear each other — each site is completely private. Stay close to the heart of the farm, with fresh veggies, free-range eggs and our goats and alpacas will be on-site soon too. Enjoy peaceful views of what we fondly call “Lake Purcell” — our neighbour’s picturesque dam, just metres from your camp (please note, the dam is not accessible at this time). It’s the perfect base for exploring Bathurst, Oberon, and the O’Connell/Tarana region. At night, settle in by the fire and take in the stars and stunning sunsets - no traffic, no noise, just pure country stillness. Don't forget to check out our awesome EXTRAS on the main page! *Pets are most welcome and must be ON LEASH*.  Campfires are welcome in fire pit.

Beautiful riverside campsite with a peaceful setting and great views. The night was especially memorable, the Milky Way was incredibly clear and made for an amazing stargazing experience. During the day, we could spot trout in the river, which was really fun even though we did not manage to catch any. A lovely spot to relax and enjoy nature.

We enjoyed our downtime camping at Windy Oaks Farm is a great place! There's plenty of space, and you get all the river frontage to yourself. The ground is nice and level, which makes setting up really easy. Thanks so much, Angela, for the friendly greeting and for giving us directions! It was also our friend's first off-grid caravanning/camping trip, and they enjoyed it, even their dog Luna too.

By the river, the kids (10 & 8 years) were able to fish (they got a few nibbles), skim stones along the water top, metal detect, and watch out for the bird life, etc., they loved their stay a Windy Oaks. Angela provided farm fresh eggs, so scrambled eggs were on the breakfast menu. Flat campsite, mowed and absolutely fantastic for self sufficient camping.

Great spot!! Angela was very welcoming and friendly- big, flat spot with plenty of room to maneuver 17tf caravan. Nice and open with amazing views and the river is beautiful. Will definitely be back!!!

Nice spot - watching Kangaroos was fun. Await instructions from owner as sat nav takes you the wrong way and assumes you can drive through a river - there is a nice pub nearby to wait so no great hassle. Host very pleasant indeed. She was worried that we got lost whereas we viewed it as part of the adventure.

Great place to camp, fishing, relaxing, the only thing that is better, are the host Angela and Tony. Helped me when I had car trouble. Finally, the pizza they offer is very tasty with locally sourced ingredients. High end pizza restaurants are not this good. We will visit again.

We just loved having a location that seemed like it was miles away from nowhere, but was actually only 25 minutes away from the nearest town. We ordered pizza from our hosts on our first night and it was the best. We were able to fish in the river and our dogs were able to join us. It was blissful to have some quiet time away from busy lives. Highly recommend!

The Farm Site at Windy Oaks
We thougrougly enjoyed staying at Windy Oaks for New Years. We both wanted somewhere quiet and that's exactly what we got. Both host were so friendly and accomodating. We were provided with fresh eggs as we stayed more then one night which was a lovely surprise and delicious 😋 We also witnessed the most spectacular sunset and storm roll in. Truly beathtaking. The Weiner's kept to themselves, while the kangaroos in the neighbouring paddock put on a show along with the gorgeous bird calls surrounding us. Hardly any flys or Moskitos and the skip bin available was greatly appreciated. If you want somewhere with beautiful views of Bathurst landscape, with a 20min drive to town and welcoming hosts this is the place to stay.

Fabulous location and hosts. Had the river frontage all to ourselves. Indulged in the breakfast pack, Angela makes the best baked beans and bread. Tarana markets were on the Sunday, great atmosphere and local produce. Wildlife in abundance. Just a great getaway, looking forward to coming back. Thanks Angela and Tony for hosting.

Beautiful camping spot on the gorgeous Fish river. There is plenty of room to camp on a flat level grassed area. The hosts were very kind and generous. We will definitely be back for a third time.

Ange and Tony were the perfect hosts, a clever mix of helping with where to find the right parking spot, advice on the local wildlife ( with two dogs) and keeping a low profile so we could have total privacy. Listening to and watching birds by the river, frog sounds at night, wallabies at dusk, the stars at night were all fabulous. The added bonus was a pizza delivered to my van. It was honestly the best pizza I have ever eaten, with locally sourced produce. I also enjoyed limited internet and phone coverage( if needed I could have walked up the hill). Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay here, the property is simply stunning. It’s perfectly secluded, right on the stream, and surrounded by beautiful scenery that makes you instantly relax. We dealt with Tony during our stay, and he was an absolute legend, really accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed, even checking in when the rain came through. And also giving some solid fishing advice We’ll definitely be booking again, our only worry now is that it’s going to be booked out all the time!

We loved camping at Windy Oaks and will definitely be back! Thank you for making us feel so welcome! We stayed at the River campsite. The site was easy to access, slashed, large and level. The river was easy to reach too. We ordered pizzas and a charcuterie board for the first night! These were all absolutely amazing and highly recommended! We also tried the breakfast hamper which didn't disappoint with homemade fresh bread and baked beans. Thank you so much for having us and sharing your beautiful spot with us

Camping by the river was fantastic. It was our group's only use. The quiet sound of the river was a soothing white noise that helped us fall asleep. The most impressive and enjoyable part was the breakfast box: a freshly baked loaf of bread and homemade jam. The butter was so soft, the eggs were fresh, the sausages bacon were simply indescribably delicious. Would we visit again? Absolutely. It will be our family's favorite camping spot. We're also incredibly grateful to Tony and Angela for their kindness.
