4WD only (clearance of 20cm+ needed). Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo, and a short drive to swimming at Turon and Coorongooba National Parks, sightseeing at Glen Davis, bird watching near Glen Alice and the terrific cafe ‘From the Paddock’. Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!) Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients) on so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance. If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently. Each campsite is a VERY long way from other sites - usually about 800m. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 950 acres of untouched bush. You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Rocklee is a good site for star gazing. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use exisiing fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you. (You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks. Sorry!)

The Hartley Vale Garlic Farm was established in 2018 as an organic garlic farm now owned by James and Michelle and their two children. The farm features a hempcrete building named 'The Stinking Rose' used for drying and curing garlic, that also acts as a big room for garlic feasts during planting (March, April and May each year). The building also houses toilet and shower facilities for guests when camping on site. On some evenings, the sky puts on a real show of golden sun rays with pink, purple and blue clouds while swallows flit across the garden beds catching moths. Our guests like to sit around their campfires watching the spectacular show while kids and dogs run around without the burden of leashes or noise of city traffic.

Please note that Hipcamp has increased my fees by 50%. This is on top of whatever they charge you. So contact me for special camping packages that include other optional extras that may save us money. Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes. I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are snakes and ticks. - we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it. Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

Brazenhead is a 15 minute drive to the closest shops, 20 minutes into Bathurst, 30 minutes from Sofala and 1 hour from the historic Hill End. The creek is a good spot to try some gold panning, go exploring and also has some deep swimming holes for you to enjoy. Pitch your tent or pull up your camping vehicle next to our creek! You will have complete privacy, only the kangaroos and other wildlife to share your trip with. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire. We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on. Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections. If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades! No pets please.

Looking for some peace and tranquility? We'd love for you to enjoy a spot in front of our creek on our 53 acre property, Brazenhead, which is surrounded by 1.3kms of the Winburndale Rivulet. Brazenhead is a 15 minute drive to the closest shops, 20 minutes into Bathurst, 30 minutes from Sofala and 1 hour from the historic Hill End. There is ample space for groups, with wide open spaces but also plenty of trees for shade. Fires are permitted in the spots provided and according to local fire restrictions.

Our camp sites are only available during October for the Bathurst 1000, at this time. 3 Veg Farm is a small organic urban market garden on the edge of Bathurst. Established in late 2020, with over 1000 native species planted it is slowly emerging as an eco sanctuary. More than 50 different cold climate seasonal vegetables and flowers are grown on 3 acres and sold at the Bathurst Farmers' Markets, as well as from the farm gate shop and box deliveries around town. You can preorder a box of veges for your dinner. Watch the daily goings on of planting and harvesting, or get involved and learn all about permaculture - workshops and/or volunteering available. (Please note that this is an urban farm beside the train line on the edge of town, not a wilderness, so some industrial noises and trains can sometimes be heard around the clock.) Bathurst shops, restaurants and Mt Panorama are just 5 minutes drive away. Explore our heritage as Australia's oldest inland city, and there is a lovely little pastry cafe right around the corner. Bathurst is central for exploring the outlying goldmining & historic villages of Sofala, Hill End, Rockley, Carcoar as well as the Bridle Track and a beautiful drive along Fish River to Tarana and Evans Crown walking track. This is a safe space for women travellers and LGBTIQ+ folks. This campsite is located amongst rolling green hills, with some campsites having frontage on the creek and access to the Turon River nearby. Laze around by the creek on hot days and relax in the lush shade. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. Some campsites will require 4WD. Enjoy camping, walking, nature walks, gold fossicking and detecting, bird watching, fishing and swimming in the nearby Turon river. This is a great place for general camping activities and family fun in a mostly private campsite, in the ruggedly peaceful and quiet Australian countryside. Gaze at the stars as you warm your feet by the campfire at night. Campers must bring everything they need and take all waste when they leave. Campfires must comply with the local fire restrictions and guidelines and must be restricted to the fire pit provided. Bonfires are not permitted at any time. Pets on leashes welcome.
