Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via the Bridle Track. Better still, book into a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Fires are allowed (fire restrictions permitting). Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. Hillside Harvest

6 sites · RVs, Tents75 acres · Borenore, NSW
Hillside is a 75 acre working orchard growing cherries, stonefruit, apples and pears. Amongst the rows of fruit trees is a small block of eucalypts and three dams, one of which is quite large and suitable for swimming, paddling and fishing in. Dawn and dusk brings a variety of birds and kangaroos and skies painted in colour. In summer and autumn you can pick your own fruit. In winter put on your coat and take a walk whilst breathing in the fresh, crisp air. In spring, buds burst open and all the trees are covered in beautiful blossoms. The orchard is in the heart of Cabonne Shire, the fruit bowl of Central West NSW. Orange is renowned for its wineries, restaurants and cafes. At our farm stall you can grab a coffee, light lunch and a great variety of local produce including fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, olive oil and jams. Just minutes away, Mt Canobolas and Lake Canobolas offer great bushwalking and mountain biking.

Windy Oaks Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · O'connell, NSW
Windy Oaks Farm is a small 30 acre property with about 700 metres frontage on the Fish River. We grow saffron and garlic and other veggies, have a small orchard and plenty of eggs daily from our lovely chooks. Trout and fly anglers love our stretch of the river, as do bird watchers, nature lovers of any kind and anyone who simply loves the bush and being close to the water for a refreshing dip. BBQs down at the river are loads of fun, as are campfires when permitted. We have kangaroos in abundance, wombats and platypus. Windy Oaks is just 1.8 kms from the O'Connell Hotel if you're in the mood for a good old country pub feed. And right opposite the pub, coffee, cake and other delicious brekky and lunch treats are to found at Get Roasted - O'Connell's newly reopened cafe. Bathurst and Oberon are both 20kms either side of O'Connell with the world famous Mayfield Garden just 15 minutes drive away. Or, just relax and soak up the peace and quite of the Aussie bush right on the river. We live in one of the very few regions in Australia that boasts the perfect climate, conditions and soil for growing saffron - the most expensive spice in the world! Saffron harvest time is around the end of April for just a few weeks. This is a great time to see these spectacular flowers called crocus, come into bloom, where they are then handpicked for their valued bright red stigma. They are then dried, providing these most exquisite and highly sought after saffron threads. Just 20 minutes from Bathurst, Windy Oaks is a great option for motor racing enthusiasts who prefer not to stay at the large, crowded campsites around town. There is a very popular campground only 3 minutes from Windy Oaks that is always occupied and packed elbow to elbow during holidays and race weeks. Why not secure your very own exclusive patch on the river which would make for a great escape to relax after a noisey, busy and exciting day at Mount Panorama. There are several options along the river on which to camp. Photos 33-42 are showing some of those possible sites. But remember - you will have the place to yourself!
