We're only 10 minutes from Maitland and 25 minutes from the Vineyards, but the privacy of the camp site makes it feel like you're miles from anywhere. You've got direct access to the Hunter River with a sandy beach, great swimming holes and it's perfect for a peaceful kayak up or down stream, dependent on river levels at the time of your stay. Bring your own kayak or use ours for a small fee. For those a bit more adventurous, we take you via road to our drop off point and you paddle downstream (a leisurely 3 hours) until you arrive at the beach near your campsite. There are heaps of places to stop and have some lunch and a swim on the way. The site is a drive through level, grassy area and easily accessed by 2WD vehicle if you're not towing. For caravans and camper trailers, a 4WD is recommended but it's pretty easy going. Pets are welcome, but MUST stay within the site paddock if not on a lead. Our neighbours have stock and it's important we are always respectful toward them. A garbage bin and recycle bin is provided but you will need your own toilet. There is a designated area for a fire (when conditions permit) and we can supply firewood if required for a small fee. We’ve kept things simple and natural because that’s the way we like it. It’s a true bush camp — plenty of space, plenty of privacy, and no fuss. We just ask that everyone who stays treats the place with respect and leaves it as they found it, so the next campers can enjoy it too. The Land Hideaway is a private location on the edge of the Chichester State Forest on Jerusalem Creek, once called Munduk by the traditional indigenous Gringai. The Land has around four acres cleared for camping with access to an undercover 6x6m tea house and a long drop loo. There is access to (limited) power and lighting. For those looking for a nature retreat, a well constructed short walk will put you into Jerusalem Creek with its waterfalls pools and cascades. It’s a special treat hearing the local lyrebirds calling in the surrounding gullies. Deep pools for swimming or sliding on the rock shelf into streams. Plenty to explore, a short drive will take you into Jerusalem National Park and the Chichester State Forest l if you’re into biking it’s 18km to the Ride Dungog flow tracks and 20 km to the classic town of Dungog . We also have friendly cattle on the property who might wander by for a visit. The property has a number of picturesque dams and walking tracks available to our guests. There are plenty of flat areas for caravan and motorhomes to set up comfortably. Enjoy a campfire in the evenings and gaze up at the star filled sky! Guests are required to be fully self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Guests will love the rustic interior of the old working woolshed, converted by the owner into this idealic accommodation, complete with chic simplicity and a sign of times that once were. Sleeping a total of 5, extra camp sites can be booked for larger groups at a cost. With stunning views of the creek, enjoy the fire pit and cook your dinner under the stars (firewood can be purchased under 'Extras'). There is a full size picnic table and a kids picnic table outside, along with seating on the veranda and inside the shed. The kitchen is complete with a microwave, stove, portable gas oven, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer and a lovely country-style sink, along with dishware and cutlery. You will find all that you need to relax and enjoy a stress free getaway. The bathroom boasts a comfortable sized shower, free standing clawfoot bath (found on the property and restored by the owner) and a flushing toilet - enjoy the heated flooring on the cooler winter nights! The Woolshed is approximately 200 meters away from the main house, you may see the owners, their children and dog walking around or driving past from a distance, however The Woolshed area will be solely yours during your stay. The Woolshed itself has a lovely veranda with table and chairs, that provides a picturesque spot to sit and admire the view up the paddock. The Woolshed is rustic and open to the elements, so be mindful that it can be cold in winter and warm in summer. The shed has 4 extra large fans and for the cooler months an internal woodfire (firewood can be purchased under 'Extras'). All 3 beds have electric blankets, the 4th bed, a trundle does not so please pack extra blankets. Don't feel like making beds on holidays, let us do it for you (linen hire available under 'Extras'). The Woolshed sleeps 5 - 1 x Queen bed, 1 x single bunk bed, 1 x single trundle bed. If you are a larger group please feel free to book tent sites, available under 'Extras'.

Weekend Trip to Wattle Valley Farm

Spent and couple of nights here with a friend and enjoyed our stay. Big, open areas to camp with a decent amount of space in between camp sites. The are some sites up from the river and some in the forest so a nice variation. Showers and toilet blocks were nice with hot water and were kept clean. Wood for the fire is available but you can also forage for some dead branches. Flies were annoying but that’s Spring / Summer camping wherever you go tbh. Even keeping the site clean doesn’t stop them so just accept that you’re going to get a few if you’re going camping in these months. The noise levels from the wedding venue are quite loud so not the most peaceful place to camp but it didn’t really bother us as we had music on too or just listened to theirs tbh. Depends what you want. During the day though it’s quiet with plenty of song bird to listen to. Lots of different fishing spots to explore also. Caught one bass and saw a few carp. There’s an hour hike you can do and also some smaller walks. Definitely go down to the river as it’s peaceful and has some nice sandy areas to chill in. Phone signal is non existent here, not even a satellite went over to get a message through the whole weekend. Hosts were lovely and welcoming and explained everything in detail. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Depends what you want from your trip but if you’re ok with the above, it’s a nice clean spot to enjoy some outdoors.

Great tranquil spot, right on the river. 3 camp sites but you cannot see from one site to another, there was someone else came and stayed at another site and we only saw them drive in and then back out 2 days later. Short walk to a great swimming hole near the bridge or sit in water at front of camp. No toilets or showers, just take your own nice clean dump point in Dungog. No phone coverage but someone in group had a star link which worked fine if we needed to make a call, or you can drive up the hill to get coverage, but I just turned my phone off for the peace and quiet John comes down to check on you mid morning which turned into a nice chat, very friendly and knowledgeable man to talk to. Definitely going back again

Weekend Trip to Hunter River Bush Camp

A great, secluded private spot well away from the host's house. The track in isn't super easy, but with an offroad van you'll be fine. Make the effort to take the walk down to the Hunter River - perfect for swimming, fairly shallow although the current is surprisingly strong as you go further out. We couldn't get our dogs out of the river "Mum, five more minutes!" It is challenging to get your van level - we had to get her up nearly 150mm to get east-west level, and even then struggled to get north-south level. Would be the perfect private spot if the host could get a little section levelled out for the vans. Highly rate this place - but bring your ramps and a bit of timber to level up. We'll be back

Great place to stay. Other reviews mention the nearby road and while the road is fairly close, it is in a pretty isolated area and rarely had any vehicles go past while I was these. Other camping spot is far enough away for privacy but no one else camped while I was there. Easy access and good clean spot to set up camp. Good view down to the river with pretty easy track down to the water. Excellent communication from the host.

Such a great spot for a weekend camp. The facilities are so clean and just what you need. The farm is beautiful with some great tent spots in between the trees. We saw a wombat in the wild for the first time! Highly recommend.

Beautiful area to visit and a wide variety of camp sites available from grass paddocks to more hidden bushier areas. There was probably 8-10 camping groups when we visited and we all had plenty of space. The facilities were great and they even have a family shower room which was convenient for wrangling a small child at shower time. Wood can be purchased on site too. The bird life was fantastic and there is a river wrapping the property. Hosts were very friendly. We will come back for a stay.
