A large sheltered area, our camp kitchen, includes fridge, barbeque, electricity, kettle, table, chairs and more. Enjoy bird watching, visiting wallabies in the late afternoon, or looking for fossils in the seasonal creek just a few metres away. The historical town of Stroud is only 10 or so minutes away if you need supplies. Karuah River is close by for swimming and fishing, and the Barrington Tops National Park is approximately 50 minutes away. Ride Dungog is located at The Common in Dungog, for mountain bike enthusiasts. The area includes 650 acres offering trails for all different levels. While visiting Dungog, there are boutique cafes and shops, a historic cinema, and a lot more to see as you wander through the streets. Unfortunately we no longer have parties, including 18ths, 21sts etc.

Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway! We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river. There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing. All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. The Land Hideaway is a private location on the edge of the Chichester State Forest on Jerusalem Creek, once called Munduk by the traditional indigenous Gringai. The Land has around four acres cleared for camping with access to an undercover 6x6m tea house and a long drop loo. There is access to (limited) power and lighting. For those looking for a nature retreat, a well constructed short walk will put you into Jerusalem Creek with its waterfalls pools and cascades. It’s a special treat hearing the local lyrebirds calling in the surrounding gullies. Deep pools for swimming or sliding on the rock shelf into streams. Plenty to explore, a short drive will take you into Jerusalem National Park and the Chichester State Forest l if you’re into biking it’s 18km to the Ride Dungog flow tracks and 20 km to the classic town of Dungog . Tired punters can settle around a fire pit and dine alfresco in the Tea House. There’s much to enjoy and it’s only a bit over an hour from Newcastle. Premium and exclusive natural camping at its best. Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops. We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022. Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park. You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is. You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful. Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester. Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park. This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds. We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you. When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand. Welcome Ayr Farm Riverside Camp, a working farm with river access. We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. There is power and water you can access, however there are no toilets, so campers must be self contained and leave no trace. A 4wd is recommended if you want to camp by the river, but there are plenty of 2wd accessible areas to camp nearby overlooking the river. I run sheep and cattle on my farm, set in a picturesque part of the Hunter Valley bordered by the Hunter River, which feels far away from it all but is close to both small communities and larger hubs. In addition to the sheep and beef cattle I have a small dairy herd of 8 jersey cows, milking once a day, which you would be welcome to watch. I also have chickens, working dogs and a small market garden which includes a greenhouse, glasshouse and seed-raising area, as well as an abundance of native animals and birdlife on the farm. The property is a short drive to shops, cafes and pubs, quaint country villages and Maitland/East Maitland with city amenities. The beaches of Newcastle are an hour away with train service from Maitland and the many attractions and events of the Hunter Valley are on your doorstep, with Sydney being easily accessible for weekend adventures. Weekend Trip to The Bower Farm

Booked entire site for ourselves and it was so good having the glamping facilities right next to our swag and tent. Makes camping easy when you have extra surfaces for food prep and washing up. Loved the creatively constructed bathroom shower area and of course the hot tub was a hit with all and on our second night was quick to warm up again. Would recommend this place to friends along with the responsive and helpful hosts :-)

Weekend Trip to Willowbank

This was our 4th time at Willow Banks, first time with the Grandchildren. They absolutely loved it as much as we do. Thank you to Jo and Ian for once again being wonderful and friendly hosts. A big thank you to Ian for the tour of the property, we absolutely enjoyed hearing and seeing the history of your family property, was a privilege. We absolutely loved waking up to see and hear the cows and their calves, kids loved feeding the horses an apple. Definitely will be back, camp grounds are so well kept and private. The river is so tranquil and relaxing.

Thankyou for another gorgeous and relaxing trip to Willowbank. The sites are huge and extremely well kept, the river was crystal clear for swimming and sitting on the riverbank watching nature is just magical, we love the peacefulness and the fact you are nowhere near your neighbours and you are close to town should you need anything. Willowbank is a true, beautiful relaxing getaway and our hosts are super lovely. See you in November! 😃

Return guests 3rd time, can not fault Willow bank. From the the host that go above and beyond, escorting you to your camp site and ensuring you are well looked after. The sites are spread out and private along the river bank and the river is beautiful. Lucky to see the fire flies this trip and absolutely love the serenity. As always a big thank you to Jo and Ian for there hospitality., Highly recommend to everyone. Willow Banks is that brilliant we are returning again next weekend with the Grandchildren so they too can experience the wonder of Willow Bank.

From the get go we were greeted by Joanne and Ian, great people friendly. The site was amazing with fire pit and wood already onsite. Heaps of shaded area but enough sun up the top to keep the solar batteries charged. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to try the other sites. Fantastic location to Stroud and Gloucester.

Weekend Trip to Willowbank

We were pleasantly surprised by our campsite, it was on lovely grass, nowhere near another caravan, shady trees in front of us and a lovely stream within 50mts. It had a fire pit for our use as well. Our dog enjoyed the whole area, from paddock to stream. We will definitely be back, specifically for the scenery and peace and quiet.
