Welcome to Hakuna Matata Resort! Hakuna Matata means “no worries”, and that is what you will feel. Kieran is your host, and he will add to the facilities and general ambience of the property to make sure that your stay is beyond your expectations. He endeavours to ensure you leave with a memorable experience and a desire to return. Hakuna Matata Resort offers glamping, camping in your own tents or in supplied ready-made tents, and even sites where you can park your own van or camper trailer. But there is also the 'wow' factor that pictures can't even give you. BUT overall, the intent is that you have an adventure that only the Aussie bush can provide ... simple but done well! The 144 acres of the Hakuna Matata resort are situated 2.5 hours north of Sydney and 1 hour NW of Newcastle. Relax, unwind, and get away from it all. Give your mind the refreshment boost it craves in serene, native surroundings. Never camped in the Aussie bush before? Don’t have the gear to go camping? Or just want to go camping without the hassle of putting up the tent and taking it down as well as all the other gear? Timon has 2 ready-made canvas tents on raised platforms with roofs. One tent has 2 single beds and the other has a double bed. Sleeping bags and pillows are also provided. There is a firepit and cooking gear for your campfire. There is also a covered seating area with table and light, toilet and water tank with potable water. Timon is down the back track of the property so very secluded. Great for small groups. You will need to bring your own firewood, matches, toilet paper, rubbish bags, sunscreen, insect repellant, and food and drinks. Otherwise, everything is ready for you!

Zazu: Large Group bush Camping

Zazu a private area for large groups. This space is big enough for 30 people to camp in their own tents but is on a slight slope with some level areas. It has a fire pit, water tank with potable water and a cool outdoor shower. Campers can use the toilet 100 metres away in Simba. Alcohol and smoking is permitted but please take your rubbish with you, including cigarette butts and bottle tops.  Also, please do not throw glass / cans into fires, annd ensure you pick up any accidentally broken glass. We expect that groups take all their rubbish home with them so please bring bin bags. Stroud landfill (10 kms away) is open on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. For group bookings, we may collect a cash bond on arrival from the guest who made the booking and this is returned if there is no damage or rubbish remaining at checkout. We know that partying means alcohol for many people. We ask that you are just respectful of others and the property. We have a swimming dam and we ask that people do not drink at this area and also do not go in the water while intoxicated. Although you are in the bush and neighbours are a long way away, we request that noise is kept to a reasonable level. You can party for sure!! But bass in particular travels in the valleys and neighbours can get annoyed. We ask that you respect us if we ask you to either turn down the bass or the noise overall. Generally, it is expected that music will be turned off at 1am and bass will be turned off at midnight. Pumbaa: Camping in the Bush

Pumbaa is the camping spot with everything … a covered raised deck with outdoor lounge, lights and gas bbq, separate covered area with wood-fired pizza oven and table and bench seats, water tank with potable water, fire pit and toilet. It is a flat grassed area for camping in your own tents for up to 35 persons. It is an area of 20 x 45 metres located near the back of the property (isolated so peace and quiet) at the ‘log walk’ of the assault course. There is a 120 metre walk to the outdoor cold shower. Please note that Hakuna Matata resort charges camping PER PERSON PER NIGHT.  Guests are permitted to bring their own firewood or we offer bags of firewood for sale. Fires are fine as long as there is no fire ban in place. Alcohol and smoking is permitted but please take your rubbish with you, including cigarette butts and bottle tops. Also, please do not throw glass / cans into fires. Also, please ensure you pick up any accidentally broken glass. It is expected that groups take all their rubbish home with them so please bring bin bags. Please do not leave your rubbish in our street as you leave the premises!! Simba: Camping in the Bush

Imagine experiencing a gorgeous sunset through the trees, then a blistering fire under a sky full of stars. All with your large group of friends sharing bbq food and your favourite drinks. Simba is perhaps the most picturesque of the camping areas and can cater for up to 40 guests. With its 60 metre x 40 metre space, there is plenty of room to pitch your tent or park your campervan. Simba has a picnic table under a covered area, fire pits, a gas bbq under another covered area with a couple of seating options, and a toilet. It is a 150 metre walk to a cool shower. Simba is a really beautiful place to camp! Alcohol and smoking is permitted but please take your rubbish with you, including cigarette butts and bottle tops. Also, please do not throw glass / cans into fires, and ensure you pick up any accidentally broken glass. It is expected that groups take all their rubbish home with them so please bring bin bags. They are stunning camping areas with the amenities you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Please discuss with Kieran about what is available for your stay. Rafiki: bush parties camping

Bush party time!!! Rafiki is the party place of Hakuna Matata resort. Enough space for 50 guests and a superb stage-like covered deck area with lights, gas bbq, bath tub to put your ice and drinks in, and seating and tables for eating. There is a pizza oven, fire pits and toilet. Bring your own decorations to make this your themed party place. Rafiki is secluded from other areas of the property. There is a cold shower about 200 metres from Rafiki that can be used by guests. Rafiki can be accessed with a 2wd vehicle though lowered vehicles are not suitable. Swimming and water activities can occur in the dam at the bottom of the property, but swimming after dark is not allowed, and we ask that no swimming occurs before 9am. There is no drinking alcohol in or around the swimming dam. Alcohol and smoking is permitted but please take your rubbish with you, including cigarette butts and bottle tops. Also, please do not throw glass / cans into fires. Also, please ensure you pick up any accidentally broken glass. We expect that groups take all their rubbish home with them so please bring bin bags. Kiara is a cosy cabin in the middle of the bush. If you want the relaxing vibe then this place is for you. It has a fresh and modern approach, but nature remains the main focus. It's a perfect place to relax and enjoy some quality private time. It is away from other areas in the property, so you will have total privacy with a place all to yourself. It gives true meaning to being out in the middle of the bush, with just the noise of birds, wildlife and the breeze of the wind. Kiara has all the essentials for your stay, including a queen-size bed, outdoor deck with chairs looking out amongst the treetops, games, writing desk, fire pit, hammock, outdoor cool shower and a toilet. There is also an outdoor kitchenette with fridge, gas bbq, wood-fired pizza oven, crockery and cutlery. There is no wifi provided but some places on the property have reception for both phone and internet. There is also no power in the cabin ... but there are rechargeable lights and fans. For heating there are extra blankets ... the rest is up to you   : ) You’ll love the place … but make sure you leave time to explore the rest of the property’s wildlife, starry skies, walking tracks and brilliant sunsets!! Kieran set us up in a secluded spot away from other sites, the dam was spectacular and clean and full of wildlife. It was a peaceful and relaxing time away. Highly recommend!!

Great spot top Location great large groups or so plenty to see and do. Host was very helpful would definitely come back. The drive definitely bit ruff but Manageable with a car just take your time .

Great stay. Facilities were great. Very relaxing time spent here. Kieran was an excellent host. Very helpful, polite and friendly. Stayed at Rafiki instead of pumbaa which had a great undercover area and close toilet. Would be perfect for large parties.

Different camping areas in the bush
What a fantastic long weekend away! From the get go Kieran was such a warm and welcoming host, we knew from the first interaction we felt comfortable and would have a good camping trip. We count ourselves lucky that we were placed next to the pond where we could wake up to the sounds of the morning birds and watch the lilies open up every day. There was a viewing platform overlooking the pond where you can sit and watch the sunset and overall the site felt private and away from the hustle of everyday life, which is exactly what we were after. We had fun challenging ourselves on his assault course a little way up the gravel road and there were toilets and shower facilities nearby to where we were camping. Another plus to this property is that there is a servo a 5 minute drive away to top up on ice, fuel etc. and a small town a 10 minute drive away for a top up on groceries, drinks or a cafe visit if you wish. Overall this camp site is up there on our favourite places we have been to, just dont do what we did and follow the immediate map link that hipcamp provides because you might find yourselves down the wrong road, just manually type in the address Kieran provides 😊🤘

We had an awesome time at Kieran's place; the cabin is perfect and has a great deck and kitchen space. We did lots of walking around the property and enjoyed a ride around the place with Kieran :) The sunset from the viewing platform was spectacular. Thanks for having us!

Mufasa: Glamping in the bush
absolutely wild and amazing place to stay..loved the facilities there because it was all that you need. Close drive (10min) to a town with a great butcher and other local stores and everyone is so friendly. The property itself is more than you can ask for, Kieran is absolutely the friendliest and most accommodating to anything needed and I highly recommend the bath!

We had the best time here, Kieran was great and super helpful with anything we needed. The campsite is beautiful. I'd recommend travelling here in a 4x4 or a car with some height as our little fiesta got a bit beat up on the driving track. Recommend a visit to the farmers wife distillery (8 mins down the road)

Excellent stay! Kieron was was very helpful with directions and quickly changed the gas bottle for us on the BBQ when it ran out. The facilities are great. Would recommend staying here.

We had a great time in our stay in mufasa tent. Hot bath in the bush at night was an amazing experience. There were lots of firewood to make a fire. We had the place for ourselves and enjoyed privacy very much. Unfortunately, the tent zip wasn't working properly so we ended up having a possum in our tent in the middle of the night but still we forgot to put food in the fridge so it attracted the possum. He was really chubby and cute actually :) Another thing was we couldn't make the hot water work in the kitchen or shower. Apart from these two things, overall we had an amazing experience. Thanks Kieran for being a great host.

Amazing cabin situated on beautiful land! The place was incredible, and better than the photos. We saw plenty of stars at night on top of the hill, had the most amazing showers out the front, and enjoyed walking around the property listening to the birds.

Our experience at Hakuna Matata was fun thanks to the people we were with, the weather and the picturesque common grounds that we played games and drank a few beers on. We booked on late notice and were able to secure a spot which was a relief during the New Year period. Unfortunately the campsite we booked online was not the campsite we stayed on and instead of green grass we booked, we were put far back in the bush on a recently cleared piece of land. Although nice to be surrounded by bush, this site was bushy, unkept, full of tree stumps and dusty. When we asked to be relocated to the camp site we actually booked, we were told it had 30 people arriving on it that day so it wasn't possible. I believe the property to be more of a party destination rather than a relaxed campsite for couples but if you're after a party with mates where you can be kept alone, this is perfect. Kieran has a cool property and there's awesome athletic obstacle courses around the property, which could benefit from some upkeep. The property is how it appears in the pictures however it needs some upkeep and maintenance so guests can experience it to the fullest. You aren't camping near the dam and I wouldn't say it's a short stroll down there but it provided a great backdrop and was nice enough for cooling off. Good potential but could use some maintenance. For example, the pontoon in the dam was unusable as it was covered in bird poo.

Zazu: Large Group bush Camping
I booked the site for 20 people, including children, to celebrate my husband’s 30th. Many of the guests were first time campers, and the site was perfect. You can’t tell how beautiful it is in the images, and totally isolated. The toilet was very clean. Kieran was a great host, checked we were all good and then left us to enjoy the party. The road up is quite rocky and difficult for small cars but doable with caution. We had a great weekend so thank you Kieran!
