Watton Airstrip

29 sites · RVs, Tents265 acres · Watton, NSW
Watton Airstrip is a stunning property, nestled on the banks of the Macquarie River. Featuring nine riverside campsites, along with paddock and bush sites, all 4WD accessible and two equally stunning 2WD accessible sites. You’ll share our spaces with kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, deer, platypus and more. Enjoy some optional extras, including Tammie's home made bread, farm fresh, free range eggs, or one of our range of grazing platters, home made jams or hot chocolate kits. Or pamper yourself with a Crystal reiki session, or tarot reading. The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Lie back in your swag at night and let the star struck, velvety sky envelope you, or make a booking at the nearby Bathurst Observatory to see the stars up close. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via the Bridle Track. Better still, book into a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Fires are allowed (fire restrictions permitting). Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. We do ask that pets are supervised at all times and that they do not interfere with farm animals or local wildlife.

On the Stone River Retreat

1 site · RV, Tent100 acres · Bathurst, NSW
Unwind in the seclusion of this private and safe bush camping site on the banks of the Wambuul-Macquarie River in the remote Killongbutta valley located half-way between Bathurst and Orange. It’s a place where time stands still. Enabling you to reconnect with nature as you slow down and embrace the sounds of the river, wildlife and sheoaks when they ‘whisper secrets to the wind’. Many stories and dreamings have come from this place which guarantees to inspire your imagination as an artist, writer, poet or musician. You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and firewood is supplied. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes, chainsaws, and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. We look forward to providing exclusive access to our river site for campers who will appreciate and respect this place which is our home.

White Gum

1 site · RV10 acres · Orange, NSW
Orange is about 3.5hrs from Sydney. There's lots to see and do around the region. Visit local wineries and cellar doors, head out for some fine dining, enjoy glorious parks and gardens, step back in time with charming heritage villages. With a high altitude and rich volcanic soil from nearby Mount Canobolas, the Orange wine region enjoys perfect conditions to produce cool climate wines. Local boutique wineries make a variety of wines, including award winning shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Our restaurants offer seasonal menus or you can time your visit with Orange F.O.O.D Week in April or Orange Wine Month in October. Learn about the history and heritage of the region by exploring the Orange Heritage Trail. A camera is a must if you're visiting Carcoar and Millthorpe. Blind Freddy's Bushranger Tours take you to the actual locations in Central West New South Wales where the likes of Ben Hall, Frank Gardiner and Johnny Gilbert roamed during the gold rush era of the 1860s. The site is on the bottom half of 10 acres about 15-20 minutes from town. It has a beautiful outlook and the plot itself overlooks our little spring-fed pond. This is a quiet rural area and there is only one caravan site so privacy is a benefit. The site has access to rainwater, electricity and rubbish facilities. No toilet amenities available however we do have a dump point (you must be self-contained with your own camping toilet and shower). Orange is a beautiful area and is classed as cool climate so we do have mild summers and at least a smattering of snow in Winter most years. (You would need to ensure your caravan has some source of heating.) There is bush land behind the property that can be explored, and several local walking tracks and waterfalls. If you love watching the beauty of all four distinct seasons and dislike the heat, this area may suit you perfectly. No pets or campfires please.

Getting Away Camp

11 sites · RVs, Tents250 acres · Bocobra, NSW
Approximately 45 minutes from Orange, 4 hours from Sydney. The region between Molong and Parkes offers scenic views, bush walking, bush camping, picnic areas, mountain biking trails, and 4WD touring. To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. It's 15 minutes to the pub in town if you're up for a coldie or a meal. Our farm is a work in progress.

Bissys Permaculture Eco Retreat

9 sites · Tents97 acres · Cargo, NSW
We are located in the cool climate area of Central West NSW not far from Orange on a 97 acre property at Cargo. Our property is majestic with its views and surreal with the isolation and peacefulness of the land. Not to mention the night skies and closeness to the wildlife that visits. This place is for people who understand and appreciate permaculture design and principles. There's the opportunity to see the food forests and market gardens amongst other things in their developmental stages. Tours can be organised. The farm is set in a valley with rolling hillsides and a forest at the top of our land. It's nothing to stand onsite and hear the many noises of animals both calling out and scurrying across the terrain. There are plenty of places to visit both onsite and in surrounding areas. BYO amenities. We are dog friendly but they need to be well socialised as there are other animals on site. We run Bissy's Permaculture Cafe in town and any guest who books and stays at our place is entitled to one free coffee per person - see us on arrival. :)
