Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Approximately 45 minutes from Orange, 4 hours from Sydney. The region between Molong and Parkes offers scenic views, bush walking, bush camping, picnic areas, mountain biking trails, and 4WD touring. To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. It's 15 minutes to the pub in town if you're up for a coldie or a meal. ​Our farm is a work in progress.

NOTE: If you get bogged it is on you to get out of it, Australia hasn’t had this much rain in a very long time. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Getting Away Groups

This listing is for large group campouts and events. You will have the property to yourself for the duration of the booking. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. We ask that you arrange and pay for your own portaloos. I am happy to liaise with the hire business to help manage delivery and pick up of the portaloos on your behalf. Your group will need to be self-contained with own showers and drinking water. The campsite can accommodate 2WD including caravans and camping vehicles. There are also other areas accessible to 4WD only. Please message me for more info. Was easy to find but not much space, a lot of it was over grown and inaccessible even in a 4WD. We could only really find one okay spot with a fire pit and that’s it. Probably don’t recommend for $10.

Pulled up in a overgrown rocky paddock, creek was nowhere to be seen. Very disappointing spot. Highly would not recommend

Definitely not how the photos made out. A dirt track to camp beside only. Certainly not suitable for a caravan.

It was on the side of a public road, that had a Coles truck drive by at one point. I would expect this kind of place to be free, not $25

Unfortunately site was very very wet, and this wasn't specified in a discretion. In a current condition it is not suitable for camping. We came late, and I didn't properly check site condition. So when I drove through the site I got stuck in mud. The Host was away and wasn't able to help. So we were stuck and couldn't leave. Thanks to some locals, who passed us, were ready to help but only in the morning, as it was already dark. If it was dry, it will be really good camping spot, quite, a lot of birds in the morning and amazing sky full of stars.

Great spot. Didn’t speak to anyone but the directions to the property were very clear. Stick to the two established campsites with fire rings as it was very long grass everywhere else and difficult to turn around. (We had to reverse our van as there’s no turnaround once you drive past the fork in the road.) Very quiet spot but the two camp sites were very close to the dirt road - only half a dozen cars late in the day but travelling very fast. 5km from highway but much nicer than staying close to heavy traffic.

Offgrid camping, loved it, bring everything you need and take everything you brought. No other houses or street lamps, only the stars and camp fire to light the night. Firepit was perfect, setup with a little tin roof if it might rain. Firewood naturally everywhere from fallen branches or older trees. We arrived later than planned so setup in the 2WD section as I didn't want to setup in the dark, but loads of beautiful areas I would love to checkout another time in 4WD.

Getting Away Camp
We enjoyed camping at Getting Away Camp. Handy for visiting Orange and Parkes. Peaceful spot to sit and enjoy a campfire away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We have a 2WD but were easily able to drive further up the driveway to a second clearing on the left as the first clearing was in use. Would visit again if we were in the area.

Thanks for allowing us to stay out at your place Marc. The kids had a great time exploring the creek and bushwalking around the property. We took our caravan and stayed at the 2wd camp with the great fire pit. It was easy enough to walk or drive around to explore from here. We plan to go back in Spring.

Nice stopover location off the main road- close to a creek and natural open grassy pastures- no livestock - kangaroos and birds everywhere/ nice fire pit with wood easy to locate nearby - good spots for 4wd’s but equally accessible with a 2wd ( we had one ) a few nice walks on the property and a good view over the local national parklands -

Nice little place for a couple of nights we only had a 2wd so camped 150m from road near a good fire pit - better sites further in and up into the side of the hill- lots of mixed scrub/ black pine / eucalyptus forest with open woodlands and a creek ( not really accessible) Nice spot of your looking for an easy access / pit stop couple of nights in central west - close to manildra - thanks Marc . No live stock just lovely birds and kangaroos 🦘 could take dogs

Lovely bush camping spot!
Getting Away Camp
Really lovely spot to camp and Marc was always so prompt with communications which we really appreciated as first time HipCampers. Come prepared with your gators if you like to bush walk (it’s worth it) and 4WD if you want to camp away from the 2WD area. We will be back for sure.

A great alternative to a public free camp. For $10 per night for the entire family you get silence, a fire pit, and great privacy. Would definitely stay again when passing through.
