Quiet rural area with sealed road access north and south to the Pacific Motorway. Slashed grassy area with scattered trees, two dams, lowland rainforest, wetland with abundant birds and wildlife. Private ensuite with flush toilet, basin and solar shower with 240v light and power. Rainwater and bore water available and dump point. Caravan power available via 15A outside socket limited by 10A breaker. Reasonably flat 5-acre area one hundred meters off the main road via slightly rough but reasonably flat driveway. Mosquitoes are about day and night and a few ticks so repellent recommended. Blue billy goat weed is present and can cause allergies to dogs. Only cooking fires are allowed in the bushfire danger period, a portable fireplace and free kindling is available and some firewood but you may need to cut it up. Electric kettle & tea/coffee in container in shed. Prefer no pets unless they are indoor or on a lead under control as this property has a private conservation covenant, pets should have tick and heartworm medication. Fifteen minutes' drive to Alstonville or Patches and Broadwater beaches., 20 minutes' drive to Ballina and Evans Head. Wildlife includes abundant birdlife , Swamp Wallaby, Koala, Echidna, Bandicoot, Possums, goannas, carpet snakes and green and brown tree snakes. A good location to explore the Tuckean Swamp, the property takes in 20 ha of Lowland Subtropical Rainforest on floodplain and Melaleuca Swamp. Heading 4.5 km south along the road is the Bagotville Barrage from which you can explore the Tuckean Swamp by canoe for kilometres and observe the birdlife including ducks, comb-crested jacana and black swan.

We rate this hipcamp in the top 5 of all the hipcamps we have booked. Great location, flat area, plenty of room and space between sites, beautifully maintained, easy access, nice wide entrance for larger caravans, and great communication from host. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Perfect for what I needed! I was driving south and just needed to pull in for the night somewhere, pop up the swag, and get going in the morning. This more than ticked the boxes for me. Garry's communication was great, and he welcomed me on arrival to show me where everything was. I was able to put the swag up in a bay in the shed so was undercover. The shed had lights so I didn't need to fumble about with all my torches, and the bathroom was a definite bonus with a light and power, too. Garry even offered a ground sheet for my swag if I wanted it. Legend!

We loved our stay here. Was very peaceful spot, the dogs were lovely and we felt very private. It was only 20 minutes to Yamba, which was one of our favourite spots in Australia. A few mozzies at night time which meant we had to stay inside, but all in we had a great time.

Well maintained site, easy access and only a quick trip off the highway and close to the main road. Perfect for our two night stop to visit with friends. Ample room for to camps, we had three campers during our stay and there was still plenty space to maintain privacy.

What a fantastic area to camp. Pristine grassed area right near the water. Plenty of space to relax fish if you want or do nothing. Not too far to drive to Maclean or Yamba which is near the beach or for shopping at both towns. Ideal for dogs.

We loved our stay here! We come to Yamba quite often and always try out new Hipcamps. This is one of the nicer places we have stayed and the hosts were a big contribution to that as they are absolutely lovely. The place is super quiet and very well maintained. We had the place all to ourselves but can’t imagine it feeling busy at all even when fully booked out - the space is huge! They supplied us with a fire pit which was a really nice bonus as it saved us packing ours and taking up space in the Ute. Will definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Swampwood

As described on the Hipcamp platform, all the facilities were well-maintained, and the place was peaceful and very quiet. At night, the stars were clearly visible, making it a truly romantic spot. The host kindly provided access to a shed, allowing us to stay dry from the dew. I had brought a small amount of firewood to make a little fire, but the host also provided extra firewood for us. We made some precious memories here.

Garry was welcoming and very helpful. Facilities were available as advertised and the shower/toilet supplied with a personal touch. The site is quiet with plenty of bird life. Garry is very knowledgeable and very willing to share the history and characteristics of the Tuckean wetland and its fauna/flaura. We would go back. (13m vehicle and caravan).

Great spot on the water plenty of room between camp sites . Other hip camp hosts should check out the set up . It’s close to Yamba Maclean and beaches yet sitting around the fire feels like you’re away from everything . Our dog loved it . Would recommend to others .
