T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometers from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. We are located 30 minutes drive south east of Jindabyne and 40 minutes drive south west of Cooma. There is a flush toilet and fresh drinking water is available at our dispersed sites. Caravans can easily be filled up via garden hose and if you are staying on one of the remote sites this can be done easily prior to settling in. We have a mowed loop track giving easy access from each site to stroll to the top of the hill, walk the dog or enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner Phillip, our son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi, Myonie the Moodle and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's our peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. It is home to native animals big and small and many natural features and views. Kosciousko National Park is located to the West with several access points. Sitting at an elevation of 1270m above sea level it gets blanketed in snow in winter and beautiful sun in summer.

A short drive of under 7 minutes takes you to the Murrumbidgee River on a sealed council road. There is a flat grassed picnic area and council gas run b-bques under cover. You may find internet and mobile not fully covered here. I have a mobile that I use which works well depending where I stand. Now has 3 adjacent camp sites available. If not booked by others its a quiet spot amongst a bush setting. also offers an RV site. You can relax around your firepit and enjoy watching the beautiful wildlife that come to visit the property including Kangaroos, Wombats and a variety of native birds. The host runs a Day Spa from her home so you may like to treat yourself to some self care. Please check with host as to availability of Spa Treatments. Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. The Murrumbidgee River is just about 4 klms away, where you can enjoy a picnic along it's banks and take a dip if it's warm enough. We prefer campers who are fully self contained. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is an outside basic toilet that is a compost type with sawdust and is cleaned regularly. No pets please as we have a wildlife corridor here. * I am considering quiet well behaved pets for campers but not in the bush hut. Will verify soon*.

Bimbimbi is located at the free flowing, clear beginning of the Murray River, at Tintaldra. We have 5 separate sites. Each site is for a single group, so you know you will only have yourselves in close proximity. Each site has access to the river, although The Fishing Hole, River Red Gums and The Big Bend have better access than The Willows and The Old Pump Hole. Swimming, fishing for Murray Cod, hiking along the river bank (we have 3km of frontage), bird watching, relaxing are typical things to do here. Or, if you are more adventurous, borrow our canoes and do a down river trip, or go for a longer hike up Pine Mountain in the Pine Mountain National Park. Or, bring your mountain or road bikes and do some cycling on the picturesque roads and trails. The campsites are well spaced out, with a minimum of 200 metres between the nearest two locations. In fact, it either impossible or very difficult to see anyone else at the other camp sites from your own camp site. Each camp site is accessible via its own track, so you won't have other vehicles driving past your camp site. We have a Leave No Trace policy, please take all rubbish with you. (This also means not throwing bottles, cans, bottle tops, aluminium foil and other non-biodegradable items into the camp fire.) Dogs are allowed, but please keep them under control, particularly if near cattle. Campfires are allowed only in braziers provided, when fire bans are not in place. The tracks around the Nariel Valley are a popular destination for motorbike and 4WD enthusiasts. Mount Pinnibar Track and Mount Gibbo are both accessed via Nariel. Several high country huts, all re-built since the January 2020 bushfires, are within an hour drive. Nariel was a thriving community during the gold rush, at that time there were 4 schools and a pub in the valley. Historical relics and gold can still be found. Panning in the creek and tributaries can be a rewarding pastime. The Nariel Creek provides a great spot to cool down in summer and is fast-flowing for a fun float through rapids. In spring the Nariel Valley is where you will find some beautiful wildflower sites. Nariel is home to the Nariel Folk Festival held over a week in late December – early January each year. And that is only in Nariel Valley! Corryong is the nearest township (population ~1350) and is 25 minutes away. The Murray River at Towong is 40 minutes away. Kayaking, push bike riding and many other pursuits are all on your doorstep if you can drag yourself away from Nariel.

Since the early 1800s our property has been a sheep and cattle grazing farm. Our first ancestors settled in this area in 1821 and we enjoy a rich historical connection to our country. Little has changed since those early days with native pastures and forests existing in harmony with wildlife and livestock. You will likely see emu and a vast array of other birdlife, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, crayfish and small fish. There are two creeks, both with 4km frontage on the property. Native plants, flowers and trees are in abundance. Farm infrastructure includes timber stock yards, buildings and sheds, some dating back to the 1800s. We stayed in our caravan for 3 days. It was very peaceful. At sunset we saw deer, kangaroos and had a visit from 3 horses. It’s a short drive to Jindabyne and Mt Kosciusko. We went for a walk thru the bush to find the creek. Which is lovely. But initially was hard to find from where we were camped. Discovered if you walk past one of the two cabins you’ll find a very nicely mown pathway with a bush swing along the way and the last little bit is along animal tracks, so wear covered shoes.

Best, friendliest hosts you could ever hope to meet. Outstanding people. I overpayed them $10 and although I told them to keep it when they offered a refund, they gave me a bunch of fresh eggs anyway. They couldn't do enough to help out. Awesome spot about 1050 metres above sea level. Great phone reception (Telstra). Water refill, electric hook up available. Give them a go as they are relatively new to this and deserve your support.

Great camp spot in the high country. Jayne’s instructions were easy to follow. We had a 2WD Mercedes sprinter campervan and had no trouble getting into the site. Paula and her husband (whose name escapes me) were wonderful hosts, Paula pointed out some other nice camping spots for me around the area and some walks on the property and through the forest to do. Access to the creek was a little difficult but that was mainly due to the long grass and me worrying about snakes with my dog. Easy access just down the road though. Great shelter and amenities and the views were amazing with the changing light and clouds. My dog was very welcome and he loved walking around the farm and seeing the cows. The whole area is beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Where to go

Snowy Mountains

Australia’s highest mountain range and home to Kosciuszko National Park, the Snowy Mountains region is an alpine wonderland of glacial lakes and soaring snow-capped mountains. A 45-minute drive from Jindabyne, the national park’s riverfront Pinch River Campground is popular among fishers and swimmers cooling off in the heat of summer. Three Mile Dam Campground offers some of the best views of Mount Kosciuszko, especially in winter when the adjacent lake freezes over, and Yarrangobilly Village Campground makes a good base for walkers given its location near the Yarrangobilly Caves.

Wadbilliga National Park

Just under two hours east of Jindabyne, the rugged Wadbilliga National Park offers a wilderness escape for experienced and well-equipped campers and bushwalkers. The park’s scenery includes steep gorges carved into granite cliffs and the teeming waters of Tuross Falls—plus, you might also spot such charismatic critters as wallabies, kangaroos, wombats, possums, and platypus. You can set up camp in the remote surroundings of Cascades Campground, a small, quiet area with toilets, picnic tables, and barbecues.

The Sapphire Coast

With its uncrowded, white-sand beaches, cliffs, and blue bays, the Sapphire Coast along the far south of NSW’s coastline offers a laid-back alternative to the north. This spot is perfect for soaking up nature while boating, kayaking, and wildlife-spotting. Eden is one of the best places in Australia to spot humpback whales on their annual migration, while Mimosa Rocks National Park, near Tathra, is a wonderland of rainforest, lagoons, and strikingly intricate rock formations. You’ll find opportunities for fishing, surfing, snorkelling, and birdwatching here, as well as the unpowered Gillards Campground set between the bush and beach.

When to go

The snowy winter (June through August) is the peak season in Jindabyne, offering the chance to hit the surrounding slopes but coming with bigger crowds and higher prices. Summer (December through February) visitors can take advantage of balmy weather and easy access to hiking, biking, and watersports on the lake. Some festive highlights outside of peak season include Jindabyne's Man From Snowy River Rodeo, an action-packed day filled with barrel racing and side shows, which has been held in late December since 1943. Keen whale watchers will want to visit between May and September.

To stay at national park campgrounds, you’ll need to purchase park admission.
If you are planning to visit several NSW national parks, you can save on entry fees by purchasing an annual pass.
Smoking is prohibited in all New South Wales national parks, as are pets.
