We enjoyed a peaceful camp on the banks of a small creek. The 360 degree views were simply stunning. The ground was level, we had isolation, plenty of sunlight for solar charging and an excellent fire pit to sit around and cook a meal over. Our host was prompt in replying, extremely welcoming and suggested walks around her beautiful property, which were well worth doing. Although one can see the distant traffic on the Monaro Highway, it is not noisy at all. It is close to the tiny hamlet of Michelago for coffee and basic supplies.

We headed from Sydney to the snow and used this as a 1 night stopover, my kids can’t make it all the way in one go after /work school etc. Great level site , didn't even need to un hook the caravan, plenty of room (our van 25ft) and just off the highway so doesn't add any travel time at all . Will stop here again next snow trip. Only down side is a little bit of highway road noise but really minor after dark.

We loved this place! Such friendly hosts, who brought us firewood and gave us a map so that we could wander up the hill (incredible views!) for a hike. When booking, Carly was very honest about the fact that you could see the service station on the main road from the site, off in the distance. This didn't bother us - we just faced our van in the opposite direction looking towards the hills. Very private site and great sun for our solar panels. Thank you!

We loved to camp in Butmaroo! The view is beautiful and tequila!! Had good experiences with 3 friendly horses. Our doggie had lovely time to explore the farm. Had a great weekend away - road in is dirt but I have a Toyota Tarago and I managed just fine. The creak is down an embankment that I am not fit enough to clamber back out of so I admired it from afar. 😂 The hosts house is within view of the campsite but that didn’t bother me as there were trees shielding the campsite. Nice fire pit ready to go and the area was well kept. Great little spot for a couple of nights.

I spent a wonderful week at Butmaroo Station. If you are wanting a relaxing and peaceful experience in a rural setting but close to suburbia then this has everything you need. I appreciated the property has a flushing toilet and hand basin. If you want have a night fire you can do that too. With 3000 acres to explore Butmaroo Station is a wonderful place. I hope to return someday.

Had our family Easter on Stewart’s property. The campsite was great. We had a caravan and 3 tents set up. There was heaps of firewood to keep the fire going all long weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed being away from everyone. It’s a shame the creek wasn’t a bit bigger but we had some hikes along it with the kids and used the water from it to boil water for our showers. Went on a few day trips to fishing spots and had a swim at Stewart’s Crossing nearby. Our extended family had a great time. Thanks Stewart for sharing your bush land with us.

With over 600 acres of Australian bush, our property is ideal for campers that want their own space. We are completely off-grid (no wifi to distract you) and we run off tank water (for this reason showers are only available for two hours in the evening). There are multiple camp sites on the property - some are close to hot showers and toilets, others are within a short walking distance. Some sites are perfect for our self sufficient campers who might want a nice private location and don't need access to amenities. There are two shared camp kitchen areas (with pizza ovens and bbqs). We have two amenities blocks with toilets and hot showers and two further compost toilets located at other sites. Campfires are permitted in designated areas (check with us when booking) and firewood can be added to your booking - we do require at least 24 hours notice if you want wood. There are lots of old-style games for the kids such as cricket, tennis, playground, bikes available, a swim in the dam and general country running around fun! Unfortunately we no longer have our flying fox, but there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy. We have some great bush walking areas where you might be lucky enough to see our resident wombats or our breeding pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles. The property dates back to the early 1900s and there are numerous historic buildings on the property. The earliest is a wooden slab hut that was built around the beginning of the 19th century - the Goulburn Penny Post newspaper, dated 3 December 1904 lines the walls of the hut. It also has a two shearing stand wooden shed built by Marcus Dawe in 1922. We try to make sure all of our guests have a great experience - so if you have any special requests reach out to us and have a chat!

We are pet friendly for well behaved dogs! We have a strict on-leash policy at all times and if your dog is off leash you might be asked to leave. Respect all our animals at all times. We have zero tolerance for disrespect for our farm animals. This includes off leash dogs and allowing your dog to go too close to the farm animals especially the Alpacas. Please leave no trace. Take all waste away with you, during your stay and when you leave. Be considerate of other visitors. Feel free to use the fire pits provided by the farm. You can purchase excellent firewood from the staff or bring your own. The scattered branches on the farm can be picked up and used at will. It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. Pine Gums is so close to everything but also feels a world away from everyone. Once a much larger property, we purchased our 120-acre (50-hectare) in 1984 as a means to live sustainably and raise a family. Living in our shed whilst we prepared the garden, installed watering infrastructure, and built our house, which we finally moved into when our daughter was 6 months old in 1990. Over the ensuing years, we have continued to increase biodiversity on the property and set it up so we can live sustainably, harvesting our own water, electricity, and food. If you're lucky, you could get a hamper of our product when there is sufficient in season. With the increased biodiversity, you will find that in the mornings and evenings, kangaroos and wallabies will visit with the occasional echidna, rabbi,t and hare; and to forget the large array of bird life - that may wake you early in the morning with the songs. This campsite is set on lovely grassy open areas interspersed with gum trees. The sunrise looks spectacular near the dam, when the trees give off a lovely glow. The main paddock has a Geodome, a shared space for relaxing in. With all that space, you can park and set up camp anywhere in the paddock. There is access to drinking water, toilets, and a hot shower. Around the dome is a fire pit, drinking water, and a camp kitchen. The fire pit features an Argentinian BBQ and a plate for cooking. The kitchen has plates, cups, cutlery, and other bits and pieces for you to use. We also allow your pets to stay on-site; this includes horses. If you want exclusive use of the paddocks, refer to Group Bush Retreat.
