As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.
Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests.

There is an an outdoor undercover space including a kitchenette area, BBQ, sink, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave & cutlery/crockery. Please note there is no oven or cooktop, only a BBQ.
There are two hammocks and outdoor lounges to spend some time enjoying the view and time together.
For those looking for a bit of adventure there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Local attractions include:
Whiann Whiann Falls- swimming hole- (5 minutes)
Nightcap National Park, including spectacular Minyon Falls (30 minutes)
Rocky Creek Dam, which has walks and a platypus trail (10 minutes)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this.
This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water.
Both domes have aircon. The air-con cannot be left on. They were installed so if you have been out exploring all day and return to find a very hot or cold dome it gives you the ability to modify the temperature quickly. Once the dome has been cooled down or heated up (in our experience this takes approximately 10-15 mins) you can switch it off and use the fans provided if the evening is warm. If you leave the aircon continually running or forget to turn it off and go out you will lose power and the power will not return until the solar has had a chance to recharge the next day.
There are 2 portable fans inside the domes and a fan for outdoor use for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the domes have rooftop curtains that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the tents cooler.
Guests have access to the entire 120 acre property. There is a gate for access to the paddocks beyond the dome fencing. The gate needs to be closed immediately after entering and exiting to prevent cows entering the dome area and causing damage or exiting onto the main road.
You can stroll along the road until you reach the bushland on the far end of the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the hinterlands region.
Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway.
In the rain it may be slippery. Parking at the top of the property is recommended for cars that are not suitable for gravel inclines.

The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.

There are two hammocks and outdoor lounges to spend some time enjoying the view and time together.
For those looking for a bit of adventure there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Local attractions include:

Nightcap National Park, including spectacular Minyon Falls (30 minutes)
Rocky Creek Dam, which has walks and a platypus trail (10 minutes)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this.
This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water.
Both domes have aircon. The air-con cannot be left on. They were installed so if you have been out exploring all day and return to find a very hot or cold dome it gives you the ability to modify the temperature quickly. Once the dome has been cooled down or heated up (in our experience this takes approximately 10-15 mins) you can switch it off and use the fans provided if the evening is warm. If you leave the aircon continually running or forget to turn it off and go out you will lose power and the power will not return until the solar has had a chance to recharge the next day.
There are 2 portable fans inside the domes and a fan for outdoor use for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the domes have rooftop curtains that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the tents cooler.
Guests have access to the entire 120 acre property. There is a gate for access to the paddocks beyond the dome fencing. The gate needs to be closed immediately after entering and exiting to prevent cows entering the dome area and causing damage or exiting onto the main road.
You can stroll along the road until you reach the bushland on the far end of the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the hinterlands region.
Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway.
In the rain it may be slippery. Parking at the top of the property is recommended for cars that are not suitable for gravel inclines.

170 acres of lush flats and rolling hills located on the NSW North Coast is Highland Cow Farm. It is home to a range of beef cattle breeds including Scottish Highlanders who love to be fed carrots, Dexter, miniature black Galloways, and Belted Galloways, or, all known collectively as the pets.
The property is located close to Nimbin and Lismore and less than an hour to Byron, Ballina, and several National Parks. It's a relaxing, convenient base camp from which to explore this beautiful region.
The farm has lots of walks across flats and up hills for amazing views. You can be as active or as still as you like here.
you can choose from several lovely spots in the paddocks to set up camp.
Dont forget to bring carrots to feed Ruby, the Highland cow or Brownie the bull. Mooka our old charolais loves a cuddle while she is being fed carrots.
Fresh free range eggs are available for purchase from our neighbour. Let me know if you would like some.

We had a really enjoyable stay overall. The domes were peaceful, unique and a great place to switch off and spend quality time with the family. The setting is beautiful and Jane was a very kind and responsive host throughout our stay.
On our first night we did lose power, but Jane was extremely helpful and guided us thoroughly over the phone while her husband talked us through resetting the inverter. We were able to get the power back up and running pretty quickly, which we really appreciated. It showed great care and support from the hosts.
One small piece of feedback was around the fire pit area. When we arrived there was quite a bit of weed overgrowth around the space. We actually took it upon ourselves to clear it out to make the area cleaner and safer, especially after a brown snake passed through the area on our first night while we were sitting around the fire pit. Being in nature you expect wildlife, but keeping that area clear would definitely make it feel safer and more comfortable for guests.
That said, Jane handled the feedback with genuine care and professionalism and even offered a goodwill refund, which was a very thoughtful gesture and not expected at all. Her hospitality and communication were greatly appreciated.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would happily return again in the future. A great spot for families wanting a peaceful nature escape with their kids 🌿🔥

We loved the complete privacy. Cameron met us and showed us around and then left us alone. The amenities were clean and there was even a fridge and a microwave for our benefit. We world definitely stay again.

Such a lovely spot, well kept and clean site! No shops closeby so bring enough food and drinks! Will be returning :). Stayed in luxury swag which was wonderful but it does get very hot during the day in summer months even with air con on so be mindful of this. Very comfy beds!

Weekend Trip to Ballina Beach Nature Resort
Loved the “luxury swag” vibe at Ballina Beach Nature Resort! We stayed after a long road trip and it was exactly what we needed — minimalist, functional, yet cozy and comfortable with all the creature comforts. The amenities were spotless and well maintained. The water park was a big hit with my son, and having the beach just a short walk away made it even better. A perfect mix of nature, comfort, and family-friendly fun. Highly recommend! 🌊✨

Weekend Trip to The Meadow -Byron Hinterlands Domes
We had a great time glamping in this dome, despite the weather being pretty average.
The dome is very spacious, so we did not feel cramped or boxed in like we might have hiding out from the rain in a regular size glamping tent.
On the down side there was not even a rug inside, and the outside mat was drenched, so we had to use our own towels on the floor to dry our feet coming inside.
The rain does get in a bit, which is probably why there is there is just a bare concrete floor. The skylight is a cool feature but unfortunately you can barely see through it and the panoramic window is also made of plastic, so it does hinder the views a bit, maybe more in rainy weather.
Still there is plenty of space, (a lot more than our rooftop tent!) and you have it all to yourself, so we can't really complain.

Surrounded by nature, peaceful and perfect for truly disconnecting and recharging.
Chris welcomed my husband and me so warmly. He is incredibly friendly, kind, and went above and beyond to explain everything about the property with great care and attention. We felt very comfortable and well looked after from the moment we arrived.
We absolutely loved our stay and would love to come back again. It’s the perfect place to rest, relax, and forget about everyday worries. Highly recommended!

What a peaceful welcoming bush camp - highly recommend. Private camp, with amazing facilities set up (toilet / shower with hot water) & undercover open bush area to cook / enjoy the space. Would definitely advise bringing some cash with you to buy the macadamia some nuts (delicious!) on the way in to enjoy eating under the trees 🌳. Plenty of shade / cool spaces (essential for summer camping) & all the facilities for open fire 🔥 in Winter.

Booked for a couple of nights as a camping test run with my family and couldn't have picked a better spot. Hosts were super lovely and accomodating, checked in to make sure we were having a good time.
The property was beautiful and peaceful and of course getting taken to see and feed the cows was amazing. Very keen to come back for a longer stay in the future!

We had an awesome stay at Riverbend Retreat. The campground is set right above the river, with the water literally running just below the site, which makes for an unreal backdrop the whole time you’re there. The river itself is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, relaxing, or just sitting back and taking it all in.
For anyone into fishing, this spot is a winner — there’s some cracking bass fishing right out front, especially early morning and late arvo. It’s one of those places that feels peaceful and secluded but still has everything you need for a great camping getaway.
