The cottage is setup for glamping with an wood stove, queen bed (BYO linen), sofa, electricity, filtered water (hot and cold), hot indoor shower and composting toilet. A bar fridge and microwave is also provided. The open fire is not to be used. The surrounding land on the property includes a lake with jetty, sauna, olive grove, orchard and chicken coup. There are great hikes on the property or you can follow the creek and continue into the State Forest. There is plenty of wildlife to see, a bird lovers paradise with plenty of Lyrebirds, king parrots, black cockatoos to name a few. You're welcome to stay in the cottage or camp by the lake. Located half way between Canberra and Sydney, and 15 minutes walk from Penrose station with easy access to all the Southern Highlands has to offer.

Even with other campers you will feel like you are on your own. We are a 15 drive to the Bungonia National Park and have a few beautiful swimming spots within a 45 minute drive (or you can take a dip in the dam). Our property was once part of the Cobb and Co run and we have found a few artefacts over the years. Nearby Oallen Ford is great for gold prospecting. Located nearby is the Historic Loaded Dog Hotel and of course Goulburn's Big Merino. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN CAMPING TOILET. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen. Kangaroos, wombats, possums, lizards, turtles and yes snakes. Birds from Australia's smallest, the Weebill, to the largest, Wedgetail Eagles can be frequently seen, along with many other birds. GUIDELINES: Cost is $15 per camper per night, kids 16 and under are free (just don't add them to your booking). We will allow up to 12 people on a site and we don't have a limit on the amount of cars per site. Sites are private but not totally flat. Fire pits are provided, along with firewood. Firewood provided is sufficient for a fire not a bonfire. All rubbish must be taken with you, no bins are provided at the camp sites. All campers (even if you didn't book the site) need to report to the house. Please don't just speed past the house, you will need our help finding your site. Please drive slowly on the property (10km/h) as we have dogs, children, sheep and horses. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN CAMPING TOILET.

Fill your days swimming in the creek, exploring the property on foot, on mountain-bike, set up yabbie traps in the dams, or sit back and relax listening to the abundant birdlife that calls Forestvale home and keep your binoculars and camera handy for the visiting wildlife including wombats and kangaroos. Forestvale Farm is a working farm and you are welcome to view whatever activities are happening during your visit, or head out beyond the farm gate to visit the Taralga Zoo, stock up on fresh organic produce grown by our neighbours, dine on hearty pub dinners in town, or fish for trout on the Abercrombie River just up the road. Campfires are permitted (subject to prevailing bushfire risk conditions) but please speak to your hosts before lighting one. They must be kept contained and at a reasonable size.
