Weekend Trip to Down by the Hawkesbury

Spent the weekend with my parents, brother and husband over the weekend and we had the best time! The gazebo was the best place to hang with the family and spend some quality time, we made good use of the pizza oven, fire place, fire pit & fridge! Everything was tidy and clean and Megan's communication through the days leading up to it was amazing! The place is private, however the neighbouring rental(?) spots is very quite close by and so on the first night, the neighbours who seem to have built in entertainment systems and speakers were playing music very loudly up until 1am which made it a pretty rough night for us. Also I may have missed this during the booking process, but there is also 4 dogs, which visit the site often :)

1 night at NSW Ski Gardens

Great camping site, far enough from the hustle and bustle of Sydney but close enough to not to stay on your wheel for half of the day! Just by the Hawkesbury river, you can camp by the riverside as well. Fire-pit on every sites! Christine is very nice and welcoming too. Loved my stay and will be back again!

Weekend Trip to Colo Mudbrick Camping

We had such an amazing time at this campsite! The views were absolutely stunning, especially at night when the stars lit up the sky while we sat around the campfire — it was such a peaceful and magical experience. The facilities were great too; having access to good hot water made things so much more comfortable. Cassie, our host, was incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. Her warm hospitality really added to the overall experience and made us feel right at home. The hiking trails nearby were a great bonus. We brought our 5-year-old and 9-year-old along — while some parts of the trail were a bit challenging for the little one, it was still a fun and manageable adventure for the whole family. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to relax, disconnect, and soak in nature’s beauty. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We found the camp grounds to be safe, relaxing and very well appointed. We had never been proper camping in a tent before so it was nice to find everything we needed at the grounds. The site had power, lighting, a stove top and sink. Even a table and chairs! Christine is a gem. A real down to earth lady with a great disposition and very helpful. We definitely will be returning.

Beautiful and private camping spot. Beautiful bushland, a little creek for the kids to explore and lots of birdlife. Added convenience of the cabin with running water and bathrooms makes staying at David's land a real pleasure.

We had a wonderful stay! The hosts were incredibly responsive — when we ran out of toilet paper late at night, they kindly brought us a new roll right away. Their adorable puppies made our visit even more memorable; they were friendly and playful without being intrusive. The campsite itself was very private and peaceful, allowing us to truly relax and unwind. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy nature in comfort!

Weekend Trip to Otford Park nr Royal National Park

It was a little tight to access the site but Natasha's instructions were clear. Loved the bath and wash/toilet/kitchen facilities. We walked from the site to Bulgo beach. A fairly hard trek with loads of elevation but certainly worth it. The Otford Pantry is really good. Coffee, cakes and pies. Nothing beats an open fire for Winter camping so its safe to say we'll be back.

4 nights at Platypus Waterhole Kanimbla

I'm almost reluctant to share how wonderful this place is. It's big enough for a group weekend but we were selfish and booked it for just the 2 of us for 4 nights over the June long weekend. It was freezing but the owner supplied plenty of wood thank you. The amenities are better than your average camp kitchen and the ability to have a hot shower (outdoor) was a real treat for a camper. We loved the fire place under cover that was also a treat in winter. A well thought out shelter and we were glad of it. The views are spectacular and the animals abundant. Just loved the wombats. Thanks for having us. We will return.

4 nights at Platypus Waterhole Kanimbla

What a View this campsite has, Spectacular !, The huge shed / camp kitchen was definitely a highlight, big open fire and plenty of room to laze around. Plenty of Wallaby's and Kangaroo's around including the local cattle. Its like your in your own private bubble down there, beautiful stream and if your lucky like we were the platypus come out to play in the morning. The dirt road in is quite narrow with a couple of hairpin turns, something to be mindful of if you have a large caravan, we towed a 6mtr camper trailer which wasn't an issue, Oh and the sunrises are defintely worth getting up for. Ross and Sharon were very friendly and Ross came down to show us how to turn on the hot water for the shower.

Please be aware there is river noise during our busy times on weekends so may not suit those looking for tranquillity on weekends. During the week it's fine but weekends are busy and a bit noisy. We are 1.2 km from the township along the River Road. There are powered and unpowered sites for caravans and campers set in a rustic location. Beautiful property, nestled into the Colo Valley, next to the pristine Colo River. We have cleared grassy paddocks, some shady areas, and access to the Colo River, one of the most pristine rivers in NSW. Our river access is normally shallow, well suited to young families or those who just want to lay back and enjoy a quiet refreshing dip. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large spaces with varying distance between sites to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If you are planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. (Saturday night 2 night minimum) Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, please check with Hosts prior to booking, as conditions and a charge applies. Please ADD EXTRA at checkout for dogs... $20 per dog per visit There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. There are fire drums available on each site, most with grill plates - subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day. There are three communal flushing toilets and two awesome hot water showers! ALL waste is to leave with you! There are local bush walks through National Parks and great places for mountain bike riding although be mindful of holiday traffic in peak times on our local dirt roads. Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times. 2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Maximum length is approx 5m. Please scroll through the photos to see our amenities and camping sites. 3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability. We are on acreage (approx 7 acres) in Otford, surrounded by forest, backing onto the very southern end of the Royal National Park Sydney/Wollongong. Sleep under the stars, and to the hoot of our local owls, and yips of the gorgeous feather-tail gliders. Lovely, peaceful and private in a bushland backdrop but so close and just a hike to famous sites, beaches, cafes and bushwalking - so the perfect spot to stop, unpack and then go exploring. Down by the Hawkesbury

Originally settled in 1889 "Bobs Grant" this lovely property and the surrounding land was originally used for farming but is now mostly turf farms. Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are looking forward to welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. Groups are welcome here to enjoy the time with their family and friends, play a little music and relax by the river. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice! We have one basic toilet, and one river water shower available too! Please bring your own drinking water. Fires are only permitted when allowed, in the designated areas only.

Platypus Waterhole Kanimbla

Platypus Waterhole is rented out as one site exclusive to the booking. This exclusivity allows our guests complete privacy. We are located on a cattle property less that two hours out of the rush and business of cities. Our camping site is suitable for groups up to 20 people. The camp site is close to two creeks, Blackheath Creek and Little Stoney Creek where the protected Platypus are frequently seen, along with our wombats and kangaroos. Cox’s River is a ten minute drive suitable for swimming and fishing. We have a compost toilet, outdoor shower (restricted water) covered camp kitchen with tap water from tank, BBQ, fire pit indoors/outdoors, table, chairs, sleeping area, tent area, shade trees, picturesque site. . We charge all guests a one-off exclusivity site fee. This applies to all guests whether you book one night or seven nights. You need to add this to your booking. This is an exclusive private camping area on the beautiful Blackheath Creek. The camping area has a fantastic shelter/camp kitchen with internal fireplace, wood fired stove, sink, running water & a preparation area together with a gas BBQ & large dining table with bench seats. There is hot water and an open air shower. A long drop toilet is located nearby. At night the shelter is lit by solar powered lights & the glow of the campfire. The shelter is accessible by 4WD. Dogs are not permitted. Limited firewood is provided. Firewood can be purchased at $50 for a generous bundle. It is not possible to know how much firewood is required for your stay so during winter please take this into consideration.
