We are working small family farm only 5 km north of Orange and home to the Williewarrina Poll Hereford Stud. With an ample vegie garden, we are happy to supply you with some of our in seasonal produce, fresh eggs and home made bread for breakfast.
We offer only one spacious camp site at a time with stunning views overlooking grape vines to the east of our farm. If the weather is a touch damp - which it is inclined to be in winter in Orange - we can offer you the shelter of our very large hay shed. It will easily fit a caravan and vehicle with room to spare. It will keep your gear dry and your camp site cosy. After a busy day of visiting the vineyards of Orange you are able to relax around the campfire, whether you're camped under the hay shed or not, and take in the serenity.
If you wish, you can accompany us on a cattle experience with both our herefords and highlands, feeding and grooming them (weekends only). You are welcome to try your luck in our dam if you have your own fishing gear.
Pets are welcome but we do have livestock on the property, as do our neighbours, so please keep them under control.
Unfortunately we don't have any toilets or amenities at this point so you will need to be fully self contained and take your waste away.

This property is an off grid retreat with an abundance of wildlife. Our quiet rural retreat is just under 30 acres and has kangaroos, wombats ,possums and echidnas , wallabies and a range of bird life.
Our property is a hobby farm with chickens, vegetable garden and we make condiments and fresh farm eggs to sell , we bake fresh bread on demand.

4WD only (clearance of 20cm+ needed). Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area.
Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo.
Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!)
Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients) on so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance.
If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently.
Each campsite is a long way from other sites - usually about 800m.
Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 800 acres of untouched bush.
You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks.
Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp.
Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful.
There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use exisiting fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you.
(You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks.)

We had Fern Camp all to ourselves and loved it. We didn’t see a soul the whole time ! You’ll need to be completely self sufficient with water, toilet etc. The road in gets gnarly which is fun if you have a capable 4WD.
No phone service there - but we have Starlink which worked easily.

Tom's property was incredible. We loved the peace and privacy it offered, and the landscape was beautiful. The cabin is well equipped with kitchen utensils and a gas stove for those that want to cook indoors. A flushing toilet and shower was very welcome for the young one in our group.
There's no reception when you're on the property, but you should be enjoying the tranquil outdoors whilst you're here! The road in is okay for regular cars, but take it slow as there are some ditches you may have the manoeuvre around. A 4WD or higher car would definitely breeze through it.

Beautiful peaceful spot, listening to the birds and watching the roos. Our 2 dogs were welcome and they have a dog run area. Fiona and John are extremely welcoming and provided a comfortable stay in their van.

My family and pup had a lovely stay at Trout Valley farm. The property was gorgeous and covered with tiny white daisies when we visited in Summer. We stayed at the site with a backdrop of a large clifftop. It was incredible to have the whole property to ourselves! We enjoyed swimming and kayaking down the river. The cabin was also super helpful as we were struck by heavy rain on our trip and we were able to bunker down inside and play board games. The cabin had everything we could need - gas stoves, seating for our whole party of 8, Pots and pans, utensils, mugs, kettle, camping lights, and a number of pull out sofa beds (although we did sleep in tents the option was there). The wildlife was amazing! So many roos and birds. Awesome to have a flushing toilet and sink to wash hands and mum and dad got a hot shower in the morning! As the electricity ran on solar we were reliant on camping lights at night. Tom also provided a nice fire pit to sit out and enjoy the fire.

Though the driveway in/out is very rough and only accessible by 4WD and not ideal for campers that are low wheel base once on the property it is lovely. We ended up staying on the big paddock and had it all to ourselves which was great for ball play with our dog. The views here were lovely. Unfortunately the weather was against us and we only stayed the one night instead of the two.

Facilities were amazing and the camping spots are nestled amongst the vineyards! We took our dog who loved his first camping experience! It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Emma is an amazingly helpful host to contact. The property does not appear to be lived at full time, so you really are on your own out there. The road in is what I wound consider a tough 4WD track, you should go prepared, more so if you have a van over 13ft.
The property itself is beautiful if you take the time to look around and admire the view. It has been very dry recently, some may find it slightly too much if unfamiliar with those types of conditions.

Had a wonderful trip with a large group of 14 people and two dogs. It's a really beautiful and scenic place to rest and relax and the dogs had so much fun running around the field of wild daisies. The cabin with a flushable toilet and shower really added a level of comfort to the trip, especially on a particularly windy day which meant we ended making use of the kitchen which is very well equipped.
In terms of the drive up, it's doable in a smaller car, don't require a 4WD. The roads are gravelled with a number of pot holes and uneven surfaces so best to drive slowly.
A big thank you to Tom for his excellent communication and clear instructions, and for helping us with a small issue at the end of the trip. Would definitely love to return here again.

Fantastic stay, Sam and her family were very welcoming and helpful right from our arrival with suggestions of activities in the area, all of which were great.
We had a tour of their beautiful property including their garden full of fresh produce, we purchased some sourdough and eggs for breaky which was perfect and the cow experience was so good with the Highlands and the beautiful Hereford cows.
Nothing was a problem for Sam or her two kids who helped out and ran us through the cow experience and showed our kids around.
Would 100% recommend.

Fiona and John were great and Travellers Rest was such a quiet and peaceful stay. We were met on arrival with such a friendly vib and nothing was too much trouble. Fiona's homemade relish and sauces were delicious and added to the whole experienced. We had a visit from the host's lovely pups... just delightful.

Definitely will be coming back. Hospitality, good food and plenty of knowledge on the cows was provided by Sam and her family who have a lovely campsite there. Weather was great and I even had a quick fish in the dam. Thanks for the experience.
