4WD only - Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo. Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!) Our road has ‘roll overs’ so you need a vehicle with clearance. If you are towing a camper trailer or caravan, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently. Each campsite is a long way from other sites - usually about 800m. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 800 acres of untouched bush. You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use exisiting fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you. (You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks.)

We can accommodate large camping vehicles. We offer a lovely private camping area located alongside 2 spring fed dams, try your luck at catching a trout, Or even let your furry friends cool off with a well deserved swim. Don't forget to pack your thermals and your snow gloves in winter, just incase you need to make a snow man! You need to be a self-contained camper with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. Campfires are permitted outside of fireban season. With an ample vegie garden, we are happy to supply you with some of our in seasonal produce, fresh eggs and home made bread for breakfast. We offer only one spacious camp site at a time with stunning views overlooking grape vines to the east of our farm. If the weather is a touch damp - which it is inclined to be in winter in Orange - we can offer you the shelter of our very large hay shed. It will easily fit a caravan and vehicle with room to spare. It will keep your gear dry and your camp site cosy. After a busy day of visiting the vineyards of Orange you are able to relax around the campfire, whether you're camped under the hay shed or not, and take in the serenity. If you wish, you can accompany us on a cattle experience with both our herefords and highlands, feeding and grooming them (weekends only). You are welcome to try your luck in our dam if you have your own fishing gear. Pets are welcome but we do have livestock on the property, as do our neighbours, so please keep them under control. Unfortunately we don't have any toilets or amenities at this point so you will need to be fully self contained and take your waste away.

Weekend Trip to Lyndon Hill

Fantastic stay, Sam and her family were very welcoming and helpful right from our arrival with suggestions of activities in the area, all of which were great. We had a tour of their beautiful property including their garden full of fresh produce, we purchased some sourdough and eggs for breaky which was perfect and the cow experience was so good with the Highlands and the beautiful Hereford cows. Nothing was a problem for Sam or her two kids who helped out and ran us through the cow experience and showed our kids around. Would 100% recommend.

The camp is in a well grassed paddock with a view of the lovely dam. Firewood and a fire pit was provided and it was great to have our furry friend off leash. The site has a slight hill but easy enough to level up a caravan. The site is located close to Oberon. Mathew is a terrific host and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Weekend Trip to Nos Astra

We've spent a wonderful long weekend at Nos Astra with my wife and our 4 year old. Our son loved the trampoline, the small bush walks on the property and roasting marshmallows at the bonfire. I tracked down to Cox River crossing, following some paths leading out from the back of the property and through the woods. We spent the nights laying in the trampoline and gazing at the stars. The property offered great views, was nice and quite and we even encountered some kangaroos and huge monitor goanas on our walks.

We absolutely loved our stay! The place is nestled beautifully in the woods with stunning mountain views — so peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. The accommodation was exactly as described on the website, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The host (John) was just fabulous — incredibly kind, helpful, and super quick to respond to any queries. You can truly tell they care about their guests! 5 nights at Lyndon Hill

We had a lovely 5 days at Lyndon Hill. Sam was so helpful with local information and alterations to our booking before we arrived. The family showed us and all our guests to the site and they were all super friendly. We even had freshly squeezed Blood Orange juice delivered to camp one morning by Sam (flipping delicious 😋). The cows were even more friendly if that's at all possible. The paddock isn't exactly flat but there was plenty of room to fit 4 caravans easily (and level). The grass was slightly long but it didn't stop us having a wonderful stay. Only a short drive from town, the perfect launch pad for all the wineries we visited (Heifer Station and Stockmans Ridge were our favourites). Thanks Sam 😊

What an awesome spot! Sam and the kids were so accommodating, met us on arrival with the friendliest smile. We pre purchased hot out of the oven homemade sourdough and freshly laid eggs which were delicious. Will provided firewood and kindling each day, $30 for a bundle which was so worth it Also paid for the highland cow experience where Sam and Will shared their knowledge on all things Cow 🐮. We helped brush them and also had a cuddle from Vicky the spoilt girl The paddock was beautiful and green, plenty of shade, with a great firepit. Close to Orange and only 50mins to Bathurst. So much to see and do in the area. Even though it’s close to the highway you really don’t hear the road at night. I can’t speak highly enough of Sam and her beautiful family. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

We had such a wonderful stay! Sam, Craig & Will were excellent hosts and made us feel so welcome. We were greeted with delicious homemade sourdough on arrival, and Craig kindly delivered firewood each day. The fire was great to sit around each night and toast marshmallows. In the morning, Sam & Will let us and our kids help feed, brush and pat the cows, which was a real highlight. Our family had a fantastic time and we’d definitely recommend this Hipcamp to others.

We really enjoyed camping on Mathew’s land. We had the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel private and peaceful. The views over the dam were beautiful, especially at sunset. While the site is fairly close to the main road, there wasn’t much traffic at night so it stayed quiet. Mathew was a helpful and communicative host, and even left us some firewood for our fire. There are no amenities on-site, but overall it was a great experience.
