Low Meadow Farms

19 sites ¡ RVs, Tents4 acres ¡ Knoxville, TN
PLEASE NOTE: The access code to the gate changes weekly. Check your access instructions for the correct gate code. Low Meadow Farms (formerly Brown Bike Farms) is a serene four-acre meadow bordered by Burnett Creek. The campground is an easy distance to Downtown Knoxville and an even easier access to all that South Knox's Urban Wilderness has to offer. It uniquely offers a hint of backcountry camping without the 25-mile hike in, a great way to test the waters for primitive camping or an easy stop close to the city for a seasoned traveler. It is best suited for off-road vehicles, bike, tent, and hammock camping. Our Campsites: Sites 1 through 11 are along the tree line that borders Burnett Creek. Site 12 is not on the creek and is up on a hill that overlooks the meadow. Lucky number 13 is located in the meadow across from campsite 5. Sites 1 and 2 are off the main path and have a grass/dirt access that can get muddy after a lot of rain. Sites 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 13 are easily accessed by a gravel road. Sites 8, 9, 11 and 12 are located on a dirt/grass road on other side of a ditch - some vehicles may not be able to drive to this area and will need to park about 50 yards away. (New owners will be installing a culvert in the coming months for easier access to this area.) There are fire pits all sites. Many trees are suitable for hammock camping in the sites along the river. Campsites are labeled by number from left to right upon entering the drive, except for 13 which is in the meadow across from site 5. Each site can accommodate 2 people to keep space between groups and lessen the impact on the land. If you have more in your group, we recommend reserving an adjoining campsite. Potable water and a shared portable bathroom are on site. ***New owners will be making some changes to the campground in the coming months. Please let us know what you liked and what changes you would like to see after your stay!***

Conleys Creek Campground

7 sites ¡ RVs, Tents9 acres ¡ Whittier, NC
We purchased our nine-acre property a little over three years ago. It was a run down, small, manufactured home park with a farmhouse on it. It has been an ongoing labor of love to transform it into a small, unique RV and tent camping park along beautiful Conleys Creek. We only offer 4 tent spots (first come, first served), as well as 4 RV spots. We rent out our 38' RV separately. We have torn down and repurposed some of the manufactured homes on the property. We continue to create numerous gardens with veggies and herbs. We have also planted numerous fruit and flowering trees, bushes and flowers for bold color throughout the year. Our property is completely pesticide free. We currently have 11 free range chickens, known as The Dixie Chicks! Guests enjoy feeding, petting and collecting their eggs, which are delicious! We offer both RV and tent camping on both sides of Conleys Creek. Each site has a grill and fire pit. Fish or cool off in our creek, which is regularly stocked with trout. As a convenience to our guests, we sell eggs, firewood and ice. Enjoy the game room playing billiards or shooting darts. Enjoy the nice weather and play one of our numerous outdoor yard games. We have a very clean, private guest bath house, excellent WI-FI and a dump station. Hike up our mountain range to locate our second creek. Our guests love how convenient our location is to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We are nestled between Bryson City and Cherokee. Close to other charming towns, such as Dillsboro and Sylva, and many outdoor attractions. Enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, tubing, kayaking and whitewater rapids, all nearby our property. This is our home, business and new lifestyle. Come and enjoy it with us!

Camping near Gatlinburg guide

Overview

Home to moonshine joints, mountain coasters, and Ripley’s museums, Gatlinburg is a kitschy explosion of excess bumping against the slightly embarrassed Great Smoky Mountains. Bordering US 441 at the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this gateway city is not low-key. But the nearby foothills and countryside? Different story. Families, couples, and solos flock to secluded cabins, campsites, glamping tents, and RV parks backdropped by misty peaks and tumbling creeks. Woodsy campgrounds in the national park also await. In other words, nearby campsites feel remote, but when it’s time for an exuberant pancake or a shot of apple pie moonshine, there’s joy in knowing that Gatlinburg is just minutes away,

Where to go

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Of the park’s nine developed campgrounds, three are within 35 miles of Gatlinburg: Elkmont, Cosby, and Cades Cove. All have tent sites, RV sites, and restrooms, but you won't find electric hook-ups or showers. Elkmont, the largest, earns raves for forested sites along Little River and James Creek. Thirty minutes northeast of the city, Cosby offers more seclusion. Cades Cove borders historic homesteads and wildlife-filled meadows in a lush valley.

Cherokee National Forest

This vast woodland sprawls across along the slopes of the Great Smokies on the eastern fringes of Tennessee. There are more than 30 developed campgrounds across the forest and most can accommodate RVs. Hiking, rafting, mountain biking, and wildflower spotting are popular activities. There’s also camping at Roan Mountain State Park, famous for its cabin rentals, high-altitude meadows, and rhododendron blooms in June.

Townsend

With a rafting company, an old-school burger joint, an Appalachian heritage museum, and plenty of open space, Townsend is a slow-speed town with pockets of hustle and bustle. It’s also the closest town to Cades Cove and its scenic loop road—just 10 miles away.

When to go

Gatlinburg is popular year-round, but its high season is in spring through late fall. Campgrounds in the national park ae busy during the Wildflower Pilgrimage in April and the synchronous firefly display in late May and early June. Public and private campsites around Gatlinburg are packed from June through August, when kids are out of school. Campgrounds fill up again in October when the mountain foliage blazes with color. For pleasant temperatures and smaller crowds, visit in early June or the month of September.
