Weekend Trip to Camping under the Stars

Our stay at this campsite was truly amazing. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel very welcomed. He provided a container of water and explained camp rules. The campsite was clean and thoughtfully maintained, with plenty of room between sites with trees and brush to maintain privacy for a relaxing experience. The location was stunning—I just love the high desert landscape and is surrounded by mountains that lit up at sunset. The skies at night were beautifully dark and clear, perfect for stargazing. It felt like we had a front-row seat to nature’s best show. During the morning, my son had an absolute blast exploring and catching lizards, while I got to unwind in the hammock and soak in the peaceful sounds of birds and the breeze through the trees. It was the perfect mix of adventure and tranquility. All with close proximity to the lake and adventures in the surrounding area. I highly recommend this campsite!!

Wow! We had the most pleasant time camping. Fred, the host, was so accommodating and friendly. He had freshly mowed an area for our Subaru (we car camp). We were offered water, but we brought our own, and there is an extremely clean portapotty. Even though we were near his campsite, it was still private. The stars were incredible! And the scenery was relaxing. We just needed a campsite within driving distance of Smith Rock (it’s about a 50 minute drive) and we got so much more!! I’m saving this place & telling anyone who cares to listen about it.

Weekend Trip to Log Shelter Retreat

Clay and Julie are hospitable and kind, and the RV was lovely and a perfect resting spot during a road trip. Working stove, outlets, a quaint outdoor common space, and the best-kept porta-potty I’ve ever encountered! Would recommend to anyone passing through the area. Beware the mosquitoes though, and don’t forget bug spray and layers.

1 night at Shelter at Castle Rock Farm

Absolutely one of the most gorgeous, private and serene locations we’ve ever stayed. Attention to detail was amazing. From the beautiful fire pits (with unlimited free firewood), the rain shelters, solar lighting, double hammock and furniture made from their own small saw mill (wood from fallen trees only) the campsites are immaculate. Ours was set at the edge of a pristine meadow surrounded by a healthy forest of doug fir, sugar pine, maple and more. It is a birders paradise, alive with the sounds of wild turkeys, tree swallows and pileated woodpeckers. Walking along a lovely creek, past a pond of native cutthroat trout and getting a tour of one of the healthiest vegetable gardens we’ve seen by Richard, the owner, was one of the many highlights of our stay. We really appreciated at how environmentally conscious the owner is with this property. There are lots of trails in the vicinity. We hiked the McKenzie River trail from Sahalie Falls to Blue Pool and back - stunningly beautiful! Castle Rock trailhead is only a 2 minute drive. Can’t wait for our next stay!

My family loved our weekend getaway here! Richard provides you with just about everything you need. The property is beautiful, our 2yr old loved looking for rocks by the creek. It’s a perfect spot for stargazing as well. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife, especially the turkeys and hummingbirds! Lots of good hiking nearby too. :)

Richard thought of everything! The campsite was well-equiped with all the amenities for an Oregon campout; covered picnic area, plenty of firewood, well designed and built outhouse, hammock, beautiful, scenic landscape, quiet and private surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to hiking trails, rivers, and hot springs. We will be back!

Camping in the tipi was great! I didn't have to bother setting up my tent. The floor was covered in carpet, and there were 2 tables and a propane heater (which I did not actually use). I heard coyote and frogs at night, and an owl swooped through the meadow at dusk. I enjoyed meeting the 2 sweet resident kitties and visited with the goats. The info indicated that there was a picnic table, but this was not available. I discussed this with the host and she promptly supplied me with a camp table. The porta potty was very clean.

Located on a quite circle with the far away country feel yet minutes to lots of shopping. Bring your camp trailer or a tent (There is a flat spot designed for tents). You will have access to a picnic table, a round patio table, propane barbeque (Propane included) with a one cook top burner, water and a 20-amp hookup. The campsite boards a small farm with goats, sheep etc. so, you will hear them from time to time. Located in Central Oregon just minutes from Tumalo State Park and found on the Deschutes River. The river runs through downtown Bend offering a lazy river experience. There are plenty of float rental companies in town which also offer shuttle service. The Deschutes River has an amphitheater boarding it with top name bands every few weeks. This site is less than ten minutes from "The Cascade Village Shopping Center" (www.shopcascadevillage.com) which has lots of restaurants and a large variety of shopping (Trader Joes, Local Acers supermarket, restaurants, Lowes, Target, and lots more. Ten minutes to the north is Tumalo town offering food carts at “The Bite” (www.thebitetumalo.com) with tasty local beers on tap, two cider tasting rooms (Bend Cider and Tumalo Cider). In Tumalo Town, you will find a general store offering refillable beer and cider growlers, propane, gas, and diesel. In Tumalo town, you will also find a coffee shop, pizza parlor, farmstand with local produce, a tavern with pool tables and the historic “Tumalo Feed Co. Our unique location is close to Bend city limits and right next to Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trails. BLM land surrounds the area, and is even accessible from the upper part of our property. However in the mean time you can currently book a stay at thoses sites for tent camping. The tent sites offer a comfortable setting for your tent in the sandy dirt. Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake, not having them run thru everyone else's camp sites. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no yapper's, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM.
