The Schellraiser music fest offers a variety of seasonal camping options at our 80-acre private campground in the cool high desert of Eastern Nevada's Steptoe Valley, near the small town of McGill. Our Lotus Belle-brand bell tents are solar powered and fully furnished, with king, queen and twin beds; organic Avocado-brand mattresses; rugs; loveseats; floor lamps; charging ports and wi-fi service. Car-camping and pitch-your-own-tent sites without power are also available. Our campground features several tiny homes; we've converted the biggest one into our clubhouse that is now open to all guests from Thursday through Sunday nights. The clubhouse has a small kitchen area for cooking simple meals. We're also gearing up to reopen our coffee bar on weekends in late spring 2025; our menu features hot and cold espresso drinks, organic teas and organic chocolate bars. A heated six-unit restroom/shower trailer is on site. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, TO ENSURE THAT WE MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS: We are an OFF-GRID campground, in a very remote part of rural Eastern Nevada. To reach our campground, you must drive eight-tenths of a mile off the main highway, on a rocky DIRT ROAD that is susceptible to flooding from April to mid-July in wet years. Drivers with Teslas, Audis and low-clearance vehicles are STRONGLY ADVISED to look elsewhere for lodging. ABOUT THE AREA: Schellraiser is just minutes away from the High Schells and Bristlecone wilderness areas, and within an hour's drive of Nevada's wildest high-mountain and high-desert scenery. Subalpine peaks, rugged canyons, wild rock formations, natural hot springs and ghost towns are all around us, and the surrounding area is teeming with wildlife, including Nevada's biggest elk herd. ABOUT US: We're the founders of the annual Schellraiser micro-fest, which brought bands like Ladytron, Mercury Rev, The Raveonettes, Blonde Redhead, Asleep At The Wheel, We Are Scientists, The Joy Formidable, Blitzen Trapper, Old 97's, Houndmouth, Shannon Shaw and BRONCHO to the nearby McGill Pool Park each spring. The fest will return to a new venue (not in McGill) in 2026.

Schellraiser Twin Thirteener

Schellraiser's Twin Thirteener is a solar-powered 13-foot glamping tent, furnished with two TWIN BEDS and Avocado-brand mattresses, seating, floor and table lamps, charging ports, a rug and jute mats. It is set up for guests who would like to sleep in separate beds. IT DOES NOT HAVE A QUEEN BED and is NOT a good fit for couples. (Couples who want to share a bed should check out the Hipcamp listings for our regular Thirteener and Cocoon Thirteener, which are each furnished with one queen bed.) A heated six-stall restroom/shower trailer and a clubhouse with a small kitchen area for cooking simple meals are available to all of our guests. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Propane/butane stoves, campfires, plug-in coffeemakers, plug-in tea kettles, microwave ovens, blow dryers and hair curlers are not allowed at our bell tent sites, under any circumstances. Cooking is expressly prohibited inside our tents; our clubhouse has a kitchen, so PLEASE use it.

The Schellraiser Cocoon Thirteener is a fully furnished, solar-powered 13-foot bell tent, insulated with an extra-thick liner for colder-weather spring and fall camping. It's our most-popular tent, but it's also our smallest, with room for two people. The Cocoon Thirteener is furnished with a queen-size acacia platform bed, an Avocado-brand mattress, Marimekko bedding, seating, a mango-wood floor lamp, table lamp, charging ports, Persian and Afghan rugs, and jute mats. Guests have access to our heated restroom-shower trailer and our clubhouse, which has a small kitchen area with a propane cooktop, microwave oven and refrigerator. New this year (2025): We've moved our mobile coffee bar to the campground and are working to reopen it on weekends – hopefully, by late spring. The coffee bar serves hot and cold espresso drinks, organic teas and organic chocolate bars.

Fort Lulu

Fort Lulu is a furnished 160-square-foot A-frame cabin, with a queen-size bed, Moroccan cement tile flooring and original artwork by painter Steve Keene. This VERY tiny home is off-grid, so power is provided by a generator and solar panels. A heated six-stall restroom/shower trailer near the campground's main entrance is available for all of our guests. Fort Lulu does not have a kitchen, but espresso drinks and pre-packaged pastries will be available this fall at our nearby coffee cube.

Each 314'er is furnished with a king-size bed, an Avocado-brand organic mattress, loveseats, barrel chairs, end tables with charging ports for devices, floor and table lamps, rugs and jute mats. Warm bedding and towels are also provided. One twin-size bed and one cot may be added with at least 24 hours advance notice.

The kitchen has a small propane cooktop, a microwave oven and a refrigerator.

It's a huge space, so it's perfect for large group gatherings, but it is not intended for individual campers who are just looking for a place to pitch their tents during our regular visitor season (beyond the Schellraiser music fest or other special events).

Beautiful setting and a very cozy and comfortable stay! The Yurt was furnished with class, complete with a comfortable bed, seating, and electricity. The shower trailer was clean and so easy to use. Also, the camp host Brian was so helpful and hospitable. I would stay here any time!

Schellraiser Cocoon Thirteener

This place is amazing! Tents are beautiful and super comfortable. Setting is perfect and it’s conveniently close to the 93. Both the owner and the host were so kind. I highly recommend this spot!
