Best in Nevada: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2023.
Wide open desert with history. In the 1800s the area was prospected for lead and silver. It was also used as farmland decades ago, and now is infamous for it's world class night skies and Area 51 air force installation. Although you can see planes taking off towards the Nellis Bombing Range, or see jetfighter training exercises or even test flights, the US Government still hasn't acknowledged the existence of the facility... that you are not allowed to enter. This is also a UFO hotspot and required visiting for those that believe Earth may have visitors. This land means a lot to a lot of different people. For some, it means peace from city life. For others, it is the perfect setting for reflection on your life. Many find it to be the kind of adventurous or challenging tent camping they've sought. You'd be foolish not to count yourself among those the photographers, amateur astronomers, or souls that enjoy the continental United States' "darkest skies" with the least amount of light pollution in this part of the world. Some simply like camping and getting free air shows. Finally, if you enjoy UFO stories or stories of our men in black, there is an itinerary for you here that nowhere else can provide. This area is on many "independent researchers" must-visit list. If all that weren't enough, there is an indescribable feeling of bedding down for the night in this valley. Maybe 100% of people don't feel it, but so many past visitors who have spent the night near the Extraterrestrial Highway (the real name of Nevada State Route 395 that this land is accessible from) can vouch for it. ------------- As of March 2026: All guests will be given two free ebooks! "Dreamland Destination Guide" which talks about the other points of interest in the area and "Area 51: The Rumors of these Sands" which talks about the variety of Area 51 lore! All prior guests may message us to be given their copy.Primitive, Raw Land - RV/Camper Vehicle Highly Recommended. Lowest light pollution in the USA! Raw beauty in the desert for adventurous souls. Nature is balanced by the 'secret military' jet planes that tear across the sky randomly from Area 51. Different kinds of folks will enjoy this very unique spot.  The most outdoorsy types looking for something new, travelers on spiritual journeys, and those with equipped RVs will appreciate this unique stay. (Let's not forget, fans of UFOs and/or seeing Government secrets also get a unique kick out of this place. Check out the pictures and read more about this listing! There are zero hookups. This is raw land. There are very limited amenities (read the rest of the listing and view pictures), but a travel vehicle with the basics is VERY HIGHLY recommended. FINDING THE PROPERTY: Before your booking date, you will be sent a trove of information. This includes a guided step-by-step picture map of how to reach the property from the highway. To further eliminate any doubt, there is a video available that shows the full, entire, real time drive (from highway to property) that pauses at landmarks to show you how to get to the property. Anyone who has reviewed this information before attempting to reach the property has had zero trouble finding it. If you wait till you're out in the middle of the desert at night to review this information and find that you are on a network with no cellphone signal... you're playing life on hard mode and you may encounter difficulties finding the campsite. 10 minutes of prep before your journey will go along way. Other Notes: Please do not shine laser lights at aircraft, or on to land that is not included in this property. Highly NOT recommended. Death Valley National Park - About 126 miles away, it's known for its extreme landscapes, including salt flats, sand dunes, and colorful canyons. Zion National Park - Approximately 152 miles away, this park in Utah is famous for its towering sandstone cliffs and breathtaking canyons. Joshua Tree National Park - Around 187 miles away, it's known for its unique Joshua trees and rugged rock formations. Grand Canyon National Park - About 275 miles away, offering stunning views of the iconic Grand Canyon. Basin and Range National Monument -
Rig suitability
Vehicles under 1000 feet allowed
Allowed rigs: travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, pop-up campers, class A RVs, class B RVs, class C RVs, campervans, cars, truck campers, and rooftop tents
Any type of vehicle, airplane, or spaceship is welcome. However, there are no hookups. Imagine your vehicle is a craft that is taking you to the surface of the moon. (It's not far off from that at night.) This isn't a luxury resort, it's raw untamed land for those with souls that seek adventure. Plan for your craft to be self-sufficient for the duration of your stay. There is a nearby gas station, hotel, restaurant and bar. (Defeats the purpose of camping out here by yourself/just your group, but good to have nearby if the need comes up and it's also worth visiting!)
Pull-through site
There is a half circle containing tire tracks at the beginning of the property. Please try to keep your vehicles here, or very close to here. If you have any questions, you are able to call. (Cell service verified.)
Accommodates slideouts
Surface type: Grass or field
Surface levelness: Flat
Desert landscape. Very level. The ground is somewhat soft. Tent stakes will go in deep without any problem. Super heavy vehicles are asked to stay near the drive-in circle, so as not to tear up the land. Once your site is set up, the whole property and valley is yours to explore! (Except for the military base that the government says does not exist, naturally.)
Generators allowed
You will most likely be alone during your stay. However, we do split the land down the middle, and allow up to two bookings at the same time. If there is another group, please discontinue your generator around 8pm.
No electrical hookup
If you got solar panels, we got sun.
No water hookup
No sewage hookup
No TV hookup
What to expect
RV/tent site
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
17 guests max
Campfires allowed
Firepit, communal. Dug out firepit surrounded by block. Cinder seating provided, but recommended to bring camping chairs, and a good hat.
Toilet available
Pit toilet. There is a raised, cemented bucket (shown in the pictures) as a back up for people. PLEASE bring your own bags and toilet paper, or use your existing RV/camp toilet system. There is a supply bucket buried in the ground right next to it that may have bags or toilet paper, but because this location is NOT often restocked, it is unlikely to be there when you need it & not guaranteed. Be prepared. We'd rather keep the land pristine.
Pets allowed
Off leash. This is the great wide open! Your pets are absolutely welcome! Please understand you are liable for your pet's actions. This is raw, untamed land.
No potable water
Bring your own water. There is a restaurant & bar, and a separate market that is open early to late within a 10 minute drive if you came unprepared.
No showers
If you absolutely need to shower, there is a nearby hotel a 10 minute drive away.
Pack it out
This can sometimes be a windy spot depending on the time of day. We'd hate to trash the surrounding environment, so please keep this in mind. Please pack out.
Cooking equipment absent
Picnic table absent
No wifi
Laundry absent
