An established Permaculture homestead! Marian and Jim moved from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado to Montana in 1988! We had been living off grid at 8,000 feet for 8 years maintaining a garden homestead complete with a hand pump well and wood burning hot tub!! We moved to Paradise Valley and have been here for 30 fabulous years! We spent several years living with limited power and compost toilet in a tiny house that we built on half a mobile home chassis (frame) raising our 3 beautiful children. Again,it was high mountain property, of course with a garden. When it was time to move into the valley (easier for our children's social life) we begin to establish our small home. In the past 18 years we have been "tweaking it" to fit our preferred lifestyle. It is still an evolving work in process. We maintain a permaculture style garden and now that all of the children are mature adults and don't live here anymore, we are able to share our ideal location with world travelers. The concept here is to evolve back to a self sufficient homestead, with some modern features. So there are various options to consider. "Glam Camping" is what you will be doing. A room above the garage which is being remodeled to eventually have a bigger kitchen area, complete with a propane camp shower and incinerator toilet. Fit for two! We also have an option of a hut for one! With an electric two pot burner and small refrigerator. This was going to be a sauna but we haven't finished that project. It's cozy enough especially since you'll be spending most of your time outdoors!! Then there is the tepee, we love sleeping in it on occasion when the weather is nice. Pretty cool under the star filled skies. This year we'll set up a fire ring and you can enjoy a solar shower in one of our hoop houses. Anyway, we have a lot of fun living our lifestyle and being in Paradise Valley so close to Yellowstone Park surrounded by mountains, with the Yellowstone River (the longest un-damed river in the United States) meandering through it. Bring your gear! There's a lot to do here!
